Clinical Process Management: A model-driven & tool-based proposal

In healthcare institutions it is important to define methodologies and management strategies in order to define, maintain and execute Healthcare Processes (HP) in a simple and effective manner. These needs are necessary because this kind of processes involve many people (software engineer, healthcare teams, and doctors, among others) and must also comply with lots of international clinical standards (such as ISO-EN 13606 or ISO/DIS 13940). This paper presents a formal demonstration of our proposal which is based on the Model-Driven paradigm in order to support modeling, deploying and executing HP. Our tool-based proposal allows reducing costs, improving quality and optimizing HP taking into account the Model-Driven paradigm advantages

Working with the HL7 metamodel in a Model Driven Engineering context

HL7 (Health Level 7) International is an organization that defines health information standards. Most HL7 domain information models have been designed according to a proprietary graphic language whose domain models are based on the HL7 metamodel. Many researchers have considered using HL7 in the MDE (Model-Driven Engineering) context. A limitation has been identified: all MDE tools support UML (Unified Modeling Language), which is a standard model language, but most do not support the HL7 proprietary model language. We want to support software engineers without HL7 experience, thus realworld problems would be modeled by them by defining system requirements in UML that are compliant with HL7 domain models transparently. The objective of the present research is to connect HL7 with software analysis using a generic model-based approach. Aprendizaje cooperativo para forjar vivienda saludable en bogotá: estudio de caso

Objetivo Construir desde la comunidad una propuesta educativa orientada al auto empoderamiento para mejorar las condiciones sanitarias y de habitabilidad de la vivienda.Método Con un enfoque constructivista y con base en el programa “Gestores comunitarios del hábitat”, se trabajó con quince familias residentes en el barrio Mochuelo Bajo de la Localidad de Ciudad Bolívar en Bogotá, Colombia, con el fin de que identificaran los aspectos sanitarios más relevantes para el mejoramiento de sus viviendas y propusieran la metodología y organización de la propuesta educativa.Resultados Se identificaron veintiún indicadores epidemiológicos ligados a una vivienda insalubre, los cuales sirvieron como base para definir las problemáticas específicas y establecer la metodología para diseñar la propuesta educativa.Discusión El curso diseñado pretende fomentar la educación y las capacidades en salud de la comunidad con el fin de mejorar las condiciones de habitabilidad de las viviendas y lograr un entorno saludable del hábitat que les permita desarrollarse con bienestar y dignidad

Primer registro de la ballena de aleta Balaenoptera physalus para el Caribe mexicano

Background. Until 2015, the aquatic mammals biodiversity in the Mexican Caribbean was unknown, but was in that year when 18 species were confirmed to be distribute in this region, none of them a Rorcual species. Goals. The aim of this work is to report the first sighting of a Balaenopteridae whale in the Mexican Caribbean. Methods. CONANP patrolling activities at the National Park Isla Contoy were conduced. Results On 2th August 2018, a stranded-live whale was found. The animal was identified as a ~18m (in length)  fin whale Balaenoptera physalus (Linnaeus, 1758). Conclusions. This note is the first confirmed record of this species in the Mexican Caribbean increasing the list of confirmed aquatic mammal species distributed in this region.Antecedentes. Hasta 2015 la biodiversidad de los mamíferos acuáticos en el Caribe mexicano era desconocida, pero en ese año se confirmó la distribución de 18 especies en esta región, ninguna de ellas una especie Rorcual. Objetivos. El objetivo de este trabajo es reportar el primer avistamiento de una ballena Balaenopteridae en el Caribe mexicano. Métodos. Se llevaron a cabo actividades de patrullaje de la CONANP en el Parque Nacional Isla Contoy. Resultados. El 2 de agosto de 2018, se encontró una ballena varada la cual se identificó como una ballena de aleta Balaenoptera physalus con una longitud de 18 m. Conclusiones. Esta nota es el primer registro confirmado de esta especie en el Caribe mexicano y aumenta la lista de especies confirmadas de mamíferos acuáticos distribuidas en esta región.&nbsp

X chromosome inactivation during grasshopper spermatogenesis

Regulation of transcriptional activity during meiosis depends on the interrelated processes of recombination and synapsis. In eutherian mammal spermatocytes, transcription levels change during prophase-I, being low at the onset of meiosis but highly increased from pachytene up to the end of diplotene. However, X and Y chromosomes, which usually present unsynapsed regions throughout prophase-I in male meiosis, undergo a specific pattern of transcriptional inactivation. The interdependence of synapsis and transcription has mainly been studied in mammals, basically in mouse, but our knowledge in other unrelated phylogenetically species is more limited. To gain new insights on this issue, here we analyzed the relationship between synapsis and transcription in spermatocytes of the grasshopper Eyprepocnemis plorans. Autosomal chromosomes of this species achieve complete synapsis; however, the single X sex chromosome remains always unsynapsed and behaves as a univalent. We studied transcription in meiosis by immunolabeling with RNA polymerase II phosphorylated at serine 2 and found that whereas autosomes are active from leptotene up to diakinesis, the X chromosome is inactive throughout meiosis. This inactivation is accompanied by the accumulation of, at least, two repressive epigenetic modifications: H3 methylated at lysine 9 and H2AX phosphorylated at serine 139. Furthermore, we identified that X chromosome inactivation occurs in premeiotic spermatogonia. Overall, our results indicate: (i) transcription regulation in E. plorans spermatogenesis differs from the canonical pattern found in mammals and (ii) X chromosome inactivation is likely preceded by a process of heterochromatinization before the initiation of meiosi

Aquatic mammals from the Mexican Caribbean; a review

We present a review of the aquatic mammal species occurring in the Mexican Caribbean. Several published sources were reviewed to find information about aquatic mammals reported for the Mexican Caribbean. Additionally, we consulted 29 national and international collections and museums. Based on documents, collections, direct records and local news, we analyzed 18 confirmed species of aquatic mammals for the study area [Tursiops truncatus, Stenella clymene, S. frontalis, S. longirostris, Steno bredanensis, Grampus griseus, Globicephala macrorhynchus, Peponocephala electra; Pseudorca crassidens, Orcinus orca, Physeter macrocephalus, Kogia breviceps, K. sima, Ziphius cavirostris, Mesoplodon europaeus, Trichechus manatus manatus, Lontra longicaudis annectens and Monachus tropicalis (extinct)]. In order to gather solid baseline information that enhances efficient long-term management, regular and systematic population censuses of the aquatic mammal community are recommended. We recommend the use of the Mexican Caribbean area as a separate unit of management and conservation, differently as has been included in the macro region Gulf of Mexico/Mexican Caribbean

La imagen y la narrativa como herramientas para el abordaje psicosocial en escenarios de violencia. Departamentos de Caldas, Quindío y Risaralda

No aplicaColombia es uno de los países donde a lo largo de los años ha sufrido impactos de violencia, donde mucho se escribe de ella, pero de poco sentido hacía ella, donde solo quedan memorias narrativas de lugares que guardan un pequeño recuerdo de un gran acto tan atroz; Dentro de este apartado, en primera instancia tenemos el caso de “Shimaia”, siendo una realidad que se presenta aún, donde muchos ciudadanos experimentan tantos tipos de violencia a la vez, siendo desplazados, colonizados, explotados, desaparecidos, pero ante todo forzado a romper su identidad y cultura y costumbre que tanto los caracteriza, conociendo a profundidad su historia y memoria, a partir de preguntas estratégicas, circulares y reflexivas para explorar sus mecanismo de afrontamiento y subjetividad colectiva. Asimismo, se realiza un análisis del caso de la Masacre del salado donde se logra identificar emergentes psicosociales de la su vida cotidiana y su proceso socio histórico, como impactos desde una perspectiva bio-psico-socio-cultural y elementos simbólicos y resiliente en sus experiencias, permitiendo poder establecer estrategias psicosociales para la comunidad del Salado, teniendo como objetivo potenciar recursos de afrontamiento a una triste realidad que aún guardan en sus mentes. Seguido del informe analítico de los diferentes tipos de violencia, en algunos municipios de Colombia, en el que se resalta y se muestra el impacto de un contexto social, desde lo simbólico y subjetivo, teniendo presente como la imagen y la narrativa son dinamizadores de memorias vivas, haciendo énfasis de los recursos de afrontamiento que tiene cada territorio para la lucha contra una violencia que no es de todos.Colombia is one of the countries where over the years it has suffered impacts of violence, where much is written about it, but little meaning towards it, where only narrative memories remain of places that keep a small memory of such a great act. Atrocious; Within this section, in the first instance we have the case of Shimaia, being a reality that still occurs, where many citizens experience so many types of violence at the same time, being displaced, colonized, exploited, disappeared, but above all forced to break their identity and culture and custom that characterizes them so much, knowing in depth their history and memory, based on strategic, circular and reflective questions to explore their coping mechanisms and collective subjectivity; Likewise, an analysis of the case of the Salado Massacre is carried out where it is possible to identify emerging psychosocial aspects of their daily life and their socio-historical process, such as impacts from a bio-psycho-socio-cultural perspective and resilient elements in their experiences., allowing the establishment of psychosocial strategies for the community of Salado, with the objective of enhancing coping resources with a sad reality that they still keep in their minds. Sharing then the analytical report of different violence in different municipalities of Colombia, where the importance of a context is highlighted from a symbolic and subjective importance, keeping in mind how the image and the narrative are energizers of living memories, emphasizing the resources of coping that each territory has to fight against violence that does not belong to everyone
