Feature-rich networks: going beyond complex network topologies.
Abstract The growing availability of multirelational data gives rise to an opportunity for novel characterization of complex real-world relations, supporting the proliferation of diverse network models such as Attributed Graphs, Heterogeneous Networks, Multilayer Networks, Temporal Networks, Location-aware Networks, Knowledge Networks, Probabilistic Networks, and many other task-driven and data-driven models. In this paper, we propose an overview of these models and their main applications, described under the common denomination of Feature-rich Networks, i. e. models where the expressive power of the network topology is enhanced by exposing one or more peculiar features. The aim is also to sketch a scenario that can inspire the design of novel feature-rich network models, which in turn can support innovative methods able to exploit the full potential of mining complex network structures in domain-specific applications

Enterocyte Proliferation and Signaling Are Constitutively Altered in Celiac Disease
Celiac disease (CD) occurs frequently, and is caused by ingestion of prolamins from cereals in subjects with a genetic predisposition. The small intestinal damage depends on an intestinal stress/innate immune response to certain gliadin peptides (e.g., A-gliadin P31-43) in association with an adaptive immune response to other gliadin peptides (e.g., A-gliadin P57-68). Gliadin and peptide P31-43 affect epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling and CD enterocyte proliferation. The reason why the stress/innate immune and proliferative responses to certain gliadin peptides are present in CD and not in control intestine is so far unknown. The aim of this work is to investigate if, in CD, a constitutive alteration of enterocyte proliferation and signaling exists that may represent a predisposing condition to the damaging effects of gliadin. Immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry were used to study signaling in CD fibroblasts and intestinal biopsies. Western blot (WB) analysis, immunoprecipitation, and quantitative PCR were also used. We found in CD enterocytes enhancement of both proliferation and Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR)/ligand system. In CD enterocytes and fibroblasts we found increase of the phosphorylated downstream signaling molecule Extracellular Signal Regulated Kinase (ERK); block of the ERK activation normalizes enterocytes proliferation in CD mucosa. In conclusion the same pathway, which gliadin and gliadin peptide P31-43 can interfere with, is constitutively altered in CD cells. This observation potentially explains the specificity of the damaging effects of certain gliadin peptides on CD intestine.</p

Previous issue date: 2011-03-31This search is integrated into the line of research education, society and culture of the
graduate program in Education Doctorate from PUC-Goiás, highlighting the history of
public instruction in Goyaz in the 19th century, from its frame and the presence of dominant
discursividades producing a memory and history. With theoretical foundation in reasoned
discourse analysis proposed by Michel Pêcheux, Eni P. Orlandi and other scholars in the area,
this research aims to examine the reports of the Presidents of the province of Goyaz, the
presence of discursividades which are decisive in the history of public instruction in the
province of Goyaz in 1835 to 1856. Guiding element with the concept of discourse founder,
presented by Orlandi (1993), in the book: Discurso Fundador a formação do país e a
construção da identidade nacional, our work reflects on the discursividades made in the
process of construction of public instruction in Goyaz Public statement was at that time
meant Goyaz by our leaders. Is still the documentary from this set that one can understand
the importance of the creation and founding of Lyceu for the province of Goyaz, meaning at
that time as an instrument of speech enablement expansion of secondary education and as a
promoter element of development expected by the Imperial Government.
There is an effect of the digital belt in the quality of Internet access in public schools in CearÃ? an analysis on the perception of directors
Digital Belt design of Cearà (CDC) is an initiative of the local government, in partnership with the Ministry of science, technology and innovation (MCTI), to provide high-speed internet, with quality, aiming to universalize the access to information. This work aims to analyze whether there is Digital belt effect on the quality of internet access in public schools State of CearÃ. This measure of quality is defined by perceptions of Directors, drawn from socio-economic questionnaires contained in Brazil (INEP) relating to periods of 2009 (before the project), and 2011 (after implementation of the CDC). As not all schools were benefited by the CDC, it has been possible to employ the method of differences in differences, to assess the results and impacts caused by the project. It was found by descriptive statistics that the directors of the schools benefited realized an improvement absolute and relative quality of internet access for use of the student use. The differential in favour of these was 7.4 percentage points in the medium. In estimated logit model, however, the positive differential in favour of schools benefited was not statistically significant, causing the impact results are not robust
