    Intelligent coordination steering control of automated guided vehicle

    In this paper, based on the neural network, fuzzy control and bang-bang control, an intelligent coordination control strategy for automated guided vehicle (AGV) steering system is presented. The dynamic steering model of distance error and orientation angle error for AGV is expressed. With least square method of system identification, the model of AGV is identified. Because a toy type of AGV is employed, its structure is simple, but AGV model parameters are variable according to the operating conditions and environment. In order to improve the dynamic performances of AGV, the intelligent coordinated control strategy is used to design the AGV controller in the AGV steering control system. Simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy. © 2011 IEEE

    Spin-valve effect in a carbon atomic wire

    We report a theoretical investigation of the spin-valve effect in an atomic scale system, a carbon chain, generated by the presence of a magnetic field in the device leads. We found that there exists a cutoff energy beyond which the conductance of the device vanishes. This cutoff energy can be critically controlled by the relative orientation of the magnetic fields applied to the leads, so that an atomic scale spin valve can be achieved that switches off electric current when magnetic fields of left and right leads are anti-parallel.     High efficiency regeneration and genetic stability analysis of somatic clones of Gynura bicolor DC.

    Gynura bicolor DC. is a perennial vegetable and medicinal plant. It is an important source of anthocyanins. The effects of different growth regulators on callus induction and plant regeneration were evaluated. The best SFC index (8.6) of plant regeneration was obtained in combination of 2,4-D at 2.0 mg/l and BA at 0.5 mg/l, and the frequency of regenerating explants was 78.3%. The highest number of shoots per explant was 11. The genetic stability of the regenerants was analyzed by random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD), inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) molecular markers and flow cytometry. The results indicated that no somaclonal variation was detected among the regenerants. To our knowledge, this is the first report of somatic clone study in G. bicolor. The high efficient and reproducible protocol will be advanced for the further studies on secondary metabolic products, transformations and breeding of this potential medicinal plant.Key words: Flow cytometry analysis, genetic stability, Gynura bicolor, inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR), random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD), regeneration

    Momentum-resolved resonant inelastic soft X-ray scattering (qRIXS) endstation at the ALS

    A momentum resolved resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (qRIXS) experimental station with continuously rotatable spectrometers and parallel detection is designed to operate at different beamlines at synchrotron and free electron laser (FEL) facilities. This endstation, currently located at the Advanced Light Source (ALS), has five emission ports on the experimental chamber for mounting the high-throughput modular soft X-ray spectrometers (MXS) [24]. Coupled to the rotation from the supporting hexapod, the scattered X-rays from 27.5° (forward scattering) to 152.5° (backward scattering) relative to the incident photon beam can be recorded, enabling the momentum-resolved RIXS spectroscopy. The components of this endstation are described in details, and the preliminary RIXS measurements on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) reveal the low energy vibronic excitations from the strong electron-phonon coupling at C K edge around σ* band. The grating upgrade option to enhance the performance at low photon energies is presented and the potential of this spectroscopy is discussed in summary

    Determinación cuantitativa de indigotina e indirubina en el índigo natural mediante cromatografía líquida de alto rendimiento (HPLC)

    A high-performance liquid chromatographic separation and quantitative method using a RP-18 columneluted isocratically with methanol and water (73:27, v/v) was developed to analyze the isomeric activecompounds, indigotin and indirubin, present in the chloroform extract of indigo naturalis. Standardizedsolutions of indigotin and indirubin were used to evaluate linearity, precision (repeatability), accuracyand specificity of the method were evaluated. The results exhibited a linearity (r2 > 0.999) of between1.8 - 16.2 μg/ml and 1.6 - 14.4 μg/ml for indigotin and indirubin, respectively. A high degree ofspecificity and robustness, as well as repeatability (relative standard deviation less than 5% for bothstandards and the extracts) and accuracy (% recoveries greater than 95%) were also achievedSe desarrolló un método de cromatografía líquida de alto rendimiento cuantitativa y de separaciónutilizando una columna RP-18 eluida isocráticamente con metanol y agua (73:27, v/v) para analizar loscompuestos activos isoméricos indigotina e indirubina presentes en el extracto de cloroformo del índigonatural. Specifically, we here propose a Multi-Task Convolution Neural Network (MTCNN) employing joint dynamic loss weight adjustment towards classification of named soft biometrics, as well as towards mitigation of soft biometrics related bias. The proposed algorithm achieves promising results on the UTKFace and the Bias Estimation in Face Analytics (BEFA) datasets and was ranked first in the the BEFA Challenge of the European Conference of Computer Vision (ECCV) 2018

    Geometric aspects of space-time reflection symmetry in quantum mechanics

    For nearly two decades, much research has been carried out on properties of physical systems described by Hamiltonians that are not Hermitian in the conventional sense, but are symmetric under space-time reflection; that is, they exhibit PT symmetry. Such Hamiltonians can be used to model the behavior of closed quantum systems, but they can also be replicated in open systems for which gain and loss are carefully balanced, and this has been implemented in laboratory experiments for a wide range of systems. Motivated by these ongoing research activities, we investigate here a particular theoretical aspect of the subject by unraveling the geometric structures of Hilbert spaces endowed with the parity and time-reversal operations, and analyze the characteristics ofPT -symmetric Hamiltonians. A canonical relation between aPT -symmetric operator and a Hermitian operator is established in a geometric setting. The quadratic form corresponding to the parity operator, in particular, gives rise to a natural partition of the Hilbert space into two halves corresponding to states having positive and negative PT norm. Positive definiteness of the norm can be restored by introducing a conjugation operator C ; this leads to a positive-definite inner product in terms of CPT conjugation

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Infarcts of the corpus callosum are rare and have not been well documented previously. As for a variety of signs and symptoms presented, alien hand syndrome (AHS) can be easily overlooked.</p> <p>Case presentation</p> <p>In this report, we present a patient with a mixed types of AHS coexistence secondary to the corpus callosum infarction, including a motor type of AHS by intermanual conflict (callosal type AHS) and a sensory type of AHS by alien hand and left hemianesthesia (posterior AHS).</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>Our case may contribute to the early recognition of AHS and to explore the abnormal neural mechanism of AHS. To our knowledge, rare reports have ever documented such mixed AHS coexisting secondary to the callosal lesion, based on advanced neuroimaging methods as in our case.</p
