The effects of implicit team identification (iTeam ID) on revisit and WOM intentions: A moderated mediation of emotions and flow

Through this study, attempts were made to (a) define the concept of implicit team identification (iTeam ID), (b) examine the effects the interactions between iTeam ID and emotions exert on flow, and (c) examine the behavioral consequences of flow in the context of spectator sports. The opponent process and implicit memory theories served as the study's main theoretical frameworks. An experiment was conducted in which we developed the team identification implicit association test (Team ID IAT) as a measure of iTeam ID and manipulated spectators' emotions based on their retrospective spectating experiences. We conclude from the findings that anger, fear, and sadness paradoxically enhanced flow experiences and subsequent consumption behaviors for spectators with stronger iTeam ID, whereas happiness was universally appealing regardless of the level of iTeam ID. A recommendation is to strategically create experiences that elicit both positive and negative emotions in spectators to encourage flow
Transcriptional repression of the human collagenase-1 (MMP-1) gene in MDA231 breast cancer cells by all-trans-retinoic acid requires distal regions of the promoter
In the present study, we investigated the mechanisms controlling constitutive transcription of collagenase-1 and its repression by all-trans-retinoic acid (RA) in the highly invasive metastatic and oestrogen-receptor-negative breast cancer cell line MDA231. A combination of in vivo and in vitro experiments that include DNAase I hypersensitivity assays, transient transfection of collagenase-1 promoter constructs, and electrophoretic mobility shift assays implicate several PEA3 sites, binding sites for Ets-related transcription factors, in the constitutive expression of the human collagenase-1 promoter. Transient transfection of promoter constructs linked to the luciferase reporter, along with gel retardation assays, revealed that repression of collagenase-1 transcription by RA is not dependent on the proximal AP-1 site, but, rather, requires sequences located in distal regions of the promoter. Transcriptional analyses and electrophoretic mobility shift assays suggest that the PEA3 site located at –3108 bp facilitates, at least in part, the transcriptional repression of the human collagenase-1 gene in MDA231 cells. We conclude that collagenase-1 repression in MDA231 cells occurs by a novel regulatory pathway that does not depend on the proximal AP-1 site at –73 bp, but does depend on distal regions in the collagenase-1 promoter. © 1999 Cancer Research Campaig
Child and maternal influence on parenting behavior in clinically anxious children
This study examined child and maternal influences on maternal overinvolvement and negativity. A sample of mothers of children with anxiety disorders (n = 45) and mothers of nonclinical children (n = 46) were observed interacting during a speech preparation task with a child from the same diagnostic group as their child (i.e., anxious or nonanxious) and with a child from a different diagnostic group. During interactions involving children who were not their own, mothers were observed to be more involved with anxious children in comparison to nonclinical children. Mothers of clinically anxious children were observed to be less negative during the interactions with nonclinical children than with clinically anxious children. These results are discussed in relation to the cyclical relationship between parenting behavior and child anxiety.7 page(s
