SOCIALLY-ORIENTED APPROACH TO EDUCATION AS A CONDITION OF SUCCESSFUL SOCIALIZATION OF PUPILS

    Get PDF
Introduction. The modern schools continue to focus on the individual achievements of students, which has led to inconsistency in the formation of personality, its social immaturity. As a result, it has become necessary to make an orientation of education not only to the development of the specific personality of a learner but also to the needs of the society surrounding the person, i.e. shifting the focus from student-centered approach to education of socially-oriented person. The aim of the publication is to present the concept of socially-oriented approach in education, which is a necessary condition for successful socialization of pupils.Methodology and research methods. The research is carried out with a support on pedagogical aspect of socialization; theory of professional self-determination of a personality; theory of synthesis of personal-oriented and socially-oriented approaches. Domain approach is applied to the description of the concept of socially-oriented education that is considered to have extensional, nonlinear, and multidimensional character. Analysis, synthesis, systematization and generalization of foreign and domestic scientific experience, modeling are used as the main methods of the research. Results and scientific novelty. The ideas of socially-oriented training and education which are available in domestic and foreign pedagogics are systematized. As a result of application of this approach, the concepts of socially-oriented approach to education and a socially-oriented personality are specified. The relevance of use of a new approach in education is proved; features of this approach are shown as methodological and methodical tools of educational activity wherein interests of society and a person as a subject of society are counterbalanced. The basic principles of socially-oriented approach are allocated and described; conditions of its realization at all educational levels are specified. As it is emphasized, one of the main and indispensable conditions of effective use of socially-oriented approach to education is creation of open spontaneous social and professional space which provides motivation of educational and work activities, getting a prestigious demanded profession, gaining self-development and professional growth.Practical significance. Methodological support for successful socialization of students in the learning process at all levels of school education is provided

PRE-PROFESSIONAL SOCIALIZATION OF HIGH SCHOOLS AS A LEADING ASPECT OF STUDENTS SOCIALIZATION IN THE CONDITIONS OF TRANSFORMATION OF MODERN SOCIETY

    No full text
The article deals with the issues of socialization and pre-professional socialization of the individual in the aspect of transformations of modern society. Pre-professional socialization is one of the tasks of the school, the formation of which will help the student to find his place in life and realize his opportunities as a person and fit into the modern labor market

    Conceptual metaphor in educational discourse

Studying the functions and types of metaphors in the educational discourse (pedagogical metaphorology) is a scientific direction, actively developed in North America, Europe and other regions. Such research is being conducted in Russia as well, but the results are little known abroad. This overview describes the major achievements of the Russian pedagogical metaphorology, differentiates its leading areas of interest, analyzes methods and heuristics. The conclusion describes the system of pedagogical metaphors being dependent on living conditions and educational system, the author's philosophy and personality, his views on education, on the collaboration of teachers, students and parents

Treeline advances and associated shifts in the ground vegetation alter fine root dynamics and mycelia production in the South and Polar Urals

Climate warming is shifting the elevational boundary between forests and tundra upwards, but the related belowground responses are poorly understood. In the pristine South and Polar Urals with shifts of the treeline ecotone documented by historical photographs, we investigated fine root dynamics and production of extramatrical mycorrhizal mycelia (EMM) along four elevational transects reaching from the closed forest to the treeless tundra. In addition, we analysed elevational differences in climate and vegetation structure, and excavated trees to estimate related changes in the partitioning between below- and aboveground biomass. Fine root biomass of trees (<2 mm) increased by 13–79% with elevation, paralleled by a 35–72% increase in ground vegetation fine roots from the closed forest to the tundra. During the first year of decomposition, mass loss of fine root litter from different vegetation types was greater at lower elevations in the forest–tundra ecotone. The ratio between fine roots of trees and stem biomass largely increased with elevation in both regions, but these increases were not accompanied by a distinct production of EMM. Production of EMM, however, increased with the presence of ectomycorrhizal trees at the transition from the tundra to the forest. Our results imply that the recorded upward expansion of forest into former tundra in the Ural Mountains by 4–8 m per decade is decreasing the partitioning of plant biomass to fine roots. They further suggest that climate-driven forest advances will alter EMM production rates with potential feedbacks on soil carbon and nutrient cycling in these ecosystems
