This study set a model to predict the e ect of corporate social responsibility and green image on visit intention in small and medium-size towns (SMST). At present, there is a keen social awareness towards environmental problems, and cities are required to reduce their ecological footprint and make more sustainable use of natural resources. Increasingly, tourists are considering “green options” in their decision making. The questionnaire responses, obtained from a sample of 221 tourism in Malaga town (Spain) were analyzed using a Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to test the research hypothesis related to the positive influence of sustainability practices, green image, trust with the intention of revisiting related to the loyalty of the destination. This study shows that there is a positive relationship between sustainability practices and re-visit intention and between the green image and re-visit intention, both directly and indirectly, through trust. Also, the fact that this relationship is more significant if it is part of the green image than if it is part of sustainability actions. To practice, this study provides managerial implications to help executives adopt green actions, thanks to their positive e ects on tourist loyalty and the di erent way of manifesting this loyalty.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

New and cutting-edge technologies causing deep changes in societies, playing the role of game modifiers, and having a significant impact on global markets in small and medium-sized towns in Europe (SMSTEs) are the focus of this research. In this context, an analysis was carried out to identify the main dimensions of a model for promoting innovation in SMSTEs. The literature review on the main dimensions boosting the innovation in SMSTEs and the methodological approach was the application of a survey directed to experts on this issue. The findings from the literature review reflect that technologies, governance, and sustainability dimensions are enablers of SMSTEs’ innovation, and based on the results of the survey, a model was implemented to boost innovation, being this the major add-on of this research.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Wetting of Nematic Liquid Crystals on Crenellated Substrates: A Frank–Oseen Approach

    Get PDF
We revisit the wetting of nematic liquid crystals in contact with crenellated substrates, studied previously using the Landau–de Gennes formalism. However, due to computational limitations, the characteristic length scales of the substrate relief considered in that study limited to less than 100 nematic correlation lengths. The current work uses an extended Frank–Oseen formalism, which includes not only the free-energy contribution due to the elastic deformations but also the surface tension contributions and, if disclinations or other orientational field singularities are present, their core contributions. Within this framework, which was successfully applied to the anchoring transitions of a nematic liquid crystal in contact with structured substrates, we extended the study to much larger length scales including the macroscopic scale. In particular, we analyzed the interfacial states and the transitions between them at the nematic–isotropic coexistence

The antimicrobial properties of Sechium edule (Jacq) Swartz alcoholic extracts obtained according to the Farmacopea Argentina (6th edn) were tested against bacteria of clinical relevance as nosocomial pathogens. To evaluate antibacterial activity, the disc diffusion assay was carried out with several gram-positive bacteria (Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, coagulase-negative staphylococci, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus agalactiae, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29213, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212). This assay was suitable for the screening of a large number of extracts at one time. All ethanolic extracts showed activity against gram-positive bacteria. Minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) values were determined with a microdilution assay. The highest activity was obtained with the 80% aqueous-ethanolic leaf extract (MIC values of 4.16/8.32 mg/ml against staphylococci and enterococci) and with the 96% ethanolic seed extract (MIC values of 8.32/16.64 mg/ml and /8.32 mg/ml against staphylococci and enterococci, respectively). The results indicate that both fluid extract and tincture have very good antimicrobial efficacy against all strains of multiresistant staphylococci and enterococci. In this study the minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) values were identical to the MIC values or twofold higher than the corresponding MIC. This may indicate a bactericidal effect. Stored extracts have similar anti-staphylococcal and anti-enterococcal activity to recently obtained extracts. The results obtained might be considered sufficient to warrant further studies aimed at isolation and identification of the active principle.Fil: Ordoñez, Alicia Lucia. The aim of the present research aimed to study the mechanisms underlying the relationship between aggressive behaviour and individual levels of ability emotional intelligence (EI). We particularly focused on the mediator role of negative affect explaining this relationship. Three hundred and ninety-five participants took part in the study. Participants were assessed on ability EI (by the Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test), aggression (Buss-Perry Aggression questionnaire), and negative affect (the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule). Path analyses were used to explore which branches of the ability EI are directly related to the four aggression dimensions (physical aggression, verbal aggression, anger and hostility) and indirectly related via negative affect. The results revealed a negative relationship between ability EI and aggression, but this relationship was a function of multiple factors such as the performance level in each of the ability EI branches, the type of aggression studied, the mediator effect of NA, and gender. The emotional managing branch showed a direct effect on aggression, specifically this branch was directly related to physical, verbal, and hostility aggression. Moreover, the emotional perception branch was indirectly related to the four aggression dimensions (physical, verbal, anger, and hostility) through negative affect acting as mediator. The direction of these relationships was always negative, that is, greater ability EI was associated with lower levels of aggression, highlighting the strength of the association with physical aggression. Finally, results also showed interesting gender differences. Women possess greater EI abilities, higher levels of negative affect, less aggressive behaviour, and a lower relationship between negative affect and aggression compared with men. This research offers a better understanding of the psychological processes explaining aggression.

This article examined the convergence and divergence of public policies for farmers family economic base in Brazil and Spain. From the preparation of a comparative table it was able to recognize that Spain, as a country with more social capital, structural investments and cooperative culture embraces in greater depth the existing policy. The work is exploratory and used to bibliographical, documentary evidence as well as the perception of previously conducted field research. It concluded that although better understanding of Spain in respect of existing policies, Brazil adopt similar policies may be expected advances analogs. However, implementations are required in existing public policies, both in Spain and in Brazil, to ensure the family agricultural production and sustainability. It is shown in this article, that public policies for family farming, to ensure local development, are world clamors

Efficient and accurate algorithms for the computation and inversion of the incomplete gamma function ratios

Algorithms for the numerical evaluation of the incomplete gamma function ratios P(a,x)=γ(a,x)/Γ(a)P(a,x)=\gamma(a,x)/\Gamma(a) and Q(a,x)=Γ(a,x)/Γ(a)Q(a,x)=\Gamma(a,x)/\Gamma(a) are described for positive values of aa and xx. Also, inversion methods are given for solving the equations P(a,x)=pP(a,x)=p, Q(a,x)=qQ(a,x)=q, with 0<p,q<10<p,q<1. Both the direct computation and the inversion of the incomplete gamma function ratios are used in many problems in statistics and applied probability. The analytical approach from earlier literature is summarized, and new initial estimates are derived for starting the inversion algorithms. The performance of the associated software to our algorithms (the Fortran 90 module IncgamFI) is analyzed and compared with earlier published algorithms
