    Educação a distância no cenário da enfermagem neonatal: revisão sistemática

    OBJETIVO Identificar recursos que favoreçam o ensino mediado por tecnologia na área da enfermagem neonatal. MÉTODO Revisão sistemática cujas buscas foram realizadas nas bases de dados MEDLINE, LILACS e SciELO. Os títulos e os resumos foram avaliados por duas revisoras de modo independente. RESULTADOS Das 2.051 referências, 203 foram analisadas na íntegra, resultando na inclusão de nove estudos sobre semiotécnica e semiologia, ressuscitação cardiopulmonar, aspectos gerais de assistência neonatal, raciocínio diagnóstico e avaliação da dor. Dois artigos abordaram somente o desenvolvimento da estratégia educacional e sete descreveram processos de avaliação destas estratégias por especialistas e/ou usuários. CONCLUSÃO O ensino a distância constitui importante recurso para educação, aprimoramento e atualização e particularmente para a enfermagem neonatal agregando vantagens como maior aproximação da realidade e menor exposição dos neonatos para o ensino. A escassez de iniciativas educacionais mediadas por tecnologia sugere a necessidade do desenvolvimento, avaliação e divulgação de recursos de educação voltados ao cuidado de enfermagem ao neonato e sua família.OBJETIVO Identificar recursos que favorezcan la enseñanza mediada por tecnología en el área de la enfermería neonatal. RESULTADOS De las 2.051 referencias, 203 se analizaron íntegramente, resultando en la inclusión de nueve estudios acerca de la semiotecnia y semiología, resucitación cardiopulmonar, aspectos generales de asistencia neonatal, razonamiento diagnóstico y evaluación del dolor. Dos artículos solo abordaron el desarrollo de la estrategia educativa y siete describieron los procesos de evaluación de dichas estrategias por expertos y/o usuarios. CONCLUSIÓN La enseñanza a distancia constituye importante recurso para la educación, el perfeccionamiento y la actualización, y especialmente en lo que se refiere a la enfermería neonatal agrega ventajas como mayor aproximación a la realidad y menor exposición de los neonatos a efectos de enseñanza.     Factors associated with non-adherence to outpatient follow-up of neonatal intensive care discharge

    Objective: To analyze the factors associated with non-adherence to the outpatient follow-up of infants discharged from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Method: A crosssectional study that included 596 children who were discharged between October 1, 2014 and September 30, 2015 and who were referred to outpatient follow-up. The data were collected by evaluating the discharge report and attendance to the consultations. Results: Of the 596 children referred for follow-up, 118 (19.80%) did not attend any outpatient care in the 12 months after discharge. Children with gestational age at birth ≥37 weeks (odds ratio 1.97, p=0.013), who were not resuscitated at birth (odds ratio 1.79, p=0.032) and those without continuous use of medications at home (odds ratio 1.69, p=0.046) were more likely to not adhere to outpatient follow-up. Conclusion: The expressive number of non-adherence to follow-up indicates the need for actions to ensure care continuity to newborns at risk after hospital discharge. Although the differences pointed out cannot be defined as predictors of non-follow-up, evidence of these variables allows us to recognize risks and seek to reduce factors that influence abandoning follow-up care

    Pervasive gaps in Amazonian ecological research

    Biodiversity loss is one of the main challenges of our time,1,2 and attempts to address it require a clear un derstanding of how ecological communities respond to environmental change across time and space.3,4 While the increasing availability of global databases on ecological communities has advanced our knowledge of biodiversity sensitivity to environmental changes,5–7 vast areas of the tropics remain understudied.8–11 In the American tropics, Amazonia stands out as the world’s most diverse rainforest and the primary source of Neotropical biodiversity,12 but it remains among the least known forests in America and is often underrepre sented in biodiversity databases.13–15 To worsen this situation, human-induced modifications16,17 may elim inate pieces of the Amazon’s biodiversity puzzle before we can use them to understand how ecological com munities are responding. To increase generalization and applicability of biodiversity knowledge,18,19 it is thus crucial to reduce biases in ecological research, particularly in regions projected to face the most pronounced environmental changes. We integrate ecological community metadata of 7,694 sampling sites for multiple or ganism groups in a machine learning model framework to map the research probability across the Brazilian Amazonia, while identifying the region’s vulnerability to environmental change. 15%–18% of the most ne glected areas in ecological research are expected to experience severe climate or land use changes by 2050.     A presente coletânea, que chega ao público através de um suporte digital, tem como objetivo disponibilizar os papers, bem como os relatos de experiências educomunicativas apresentados durante o V ENCONTRO BRASILEIRO DE EDUCOMUNICAÇÃO, que teve como tema central: “Educação Midiática e Políticas Públicas”. O evento foi realizado em São Paulo, entre 19 e 21 de setembro de 2013, a partir de uma parceria entre o NCE/USP - Núcleo de Comunicação e Educação da USP, a Licenciatura em Educomunicação da ECA/USP, a ABPEducom – Associação Brasileira de Pesquisadores e Profissionais da Educomunicação e a FAPCOM – Faculdade Paulus de Tecnologia e Comunicação, que ofereceu seu campus, na Vila Mariana, para os atos do evento. Os presentes anais disponibilizam o texto de abertura, de autoria do coordenador geral do evento, denominado “Educação midiática e políticas públicas: vertentes históricas da emergência da Educomunicação na América Latina”.     Estimating flood recurrence uncertainty for non-stationary regimes

    Abstract Assuming non-stationarity in flood frequency models is still controversial due to uncertainty in estimates. In this study, a hierarchical Bayesian framework for flood frequency analysis is presented without assuming the stationarity hypothesis. We account data and model uncertainty in all modelling steps and use the Pardo River, Brazil, as study case. Results showed the presence of increasing trends in floods in Pardo River. The stationary model underestimated floods compared to the non-stationary model. Physical-based covariates models performed better than time-based showing the importance of adding physical covariates to explain the trend behavior. The presented model is adaptable to other case. Finally, this study provided guidance for the flood recurrence estimation under non-stationary conditions
