The high energy limit of the trajectory representation of quantum mechanics

    Get PDF
The trajectory representation in the high energy limit (Bohr correspondence principle) manifests a residual indeterminacy. This indeterminacy is compared to the indeterminacy found in the classical limit (Planck's constant to 0) [Int. J. Mod. Phys. A 15, 1363 (2000)] for particles in the classically allowed region, the classically forbiden region, and near the WKB turning point. The differences between Bohr's and Planck's principles for the trajectory representation are compared with the differences between these correspondence principles for the wave representation. The trajectory representation in the high energy limit is shown to go to neither classical nor statistical mechanics. The residual indeterminacy is contrasted to Heisenberg uncertainty. The relationship between indeterminacy and 't Hooft's information loss and equivalence classes is investigated.Comment: 12 pages of LaTeX. No figures. Determinations of free and bound ascorbic acid in fishery products

    Get PDF
Asorbic acid is found in two different forms in fish tissue. One form, soluble in 95% ethanol, constitutes approximately 85% of the total vitamin C content, and the other form, which is insoluble in 95% ethanol, constitutes approximately 15% of the total. Certain fish products have sufficient ascorbic acid to be of importance as dietary sources. Retention of the vitamin on processing varies with different fish products

Hidden Symmetry of Higher Dimensional Kerr-NUT-AdS Spacetimes

    Get PDF
It is well known that 4-dimensional Kerr-NUT-AdS spacetime possesses the hidden symmetry associated with the Killing-Yano tensor. This tensor is "universal" in the sense that there exist coordinates where it does not depend on any of the free parameters of the metric. Recently the general higher dimensional Kerr-NUT-AdS solutions of the Einstein equations were obtained. We demonstrate that all these metrics with arbitrary rotation and NUT parameters admit a universal Killing-Yano tensor. We give an explicit presentation of the Killing-Yano and Killing tensors and briefly discuss their properties.Comment: 4 pages, some discussion and references are adde

    Groundnut in intercropping systems

    Get PDF
In the developing world, groundnuts are commonly grown in intercropping systems, especially by small farmers who use traditionalcombinations often involving up to 5-6 crops. Detailed statistics of farming practice are difficult to obtain, but it has been estimated that 95% of the groundnuts in Nigeria and 56% in Uganda are grown as mixtures with other crops (Okigbo and Greenland 1976). In the Northern Guinea Savanna Zone of Nigeria, Kassam (1976) reported that only about 16% of the total area under groundnut was in sole croppingwhile about 70% was in 2-4 crop mixtures
