The Creeps as a Moral Emotion
Creepiness and the emotion of the creeps have been overlooked in the moral philosophy and moral psychology literatures. We argue that the creeps is a morally significant emotion in its own right, and not simply a type of fear, disgust, or anger (though it shares features with those emotions). Reflecting on cases, we defend a novel account of the creeps as felt in response to creepy people. According to our moral insensitivity account, the creeps is fitting just when its object is agential activity that is insensitive to basic moral considerations. When, only when, and insofar as someone is disposed to such insensitivity, they are a creep. Such insensitivity, especially in extreme forms, raises doubts about creeps’ moral agency. We distinguish multiple types of insensitivity, respond to concerns that feeling the creeps is itself objectionable, and conclude with a discussion of epistemic issues relating to the creeps
Correlating Project Learning Tree to 4-H Life Skills: Connections and Implications
To determine how Extension educators can use environmental education materials to develop life skills in youths, we correlated a national environmental education curriculum developed by Project Learning Tree (PLT) to the 4-H Life Skills Wheel. Youth development professionals can use the resulting correlations to determine which life skills the various PLT activities help develop. The correlation results also provide insights regarding how PLT activities help develop head, heart, and hands skills
Estimates of Cl atom concentrations and hydrocarbon kinetic reactivity in surface air at Appledore Island, Maine (USA), during International Consortium for Atmospheric Research on Transport and Transformation/Chemistry of Halogens at the Isles of Shoals
Average hydroxyl radical (OH) to chlorine atom (Cl·) ratios ranging from 45 to 119 were determined from variability‐lifetime relationships for selected nonmethane hydrocarbons (NMHC) in surface air from six different transport sectors arriving at Appledore Island, Maine, during July 2004. Multiplying these ratios by an assumed average OH concentration of 2.5 × 106 cm−3 yielded estimates of Cl· concentrations of 2.2 to 5.6 × 104 cm−3. Summed reaction rates of methane and more than 30 abundant NMHCs with OH and Cl· suggest that Cl· reactions increased the kinetic reactivity of hydrocarbons by 16% to 30% over that due to OH alone in air associated with the various transport sectors. Isoprene and other abundant biogenic alkenes were the most important hydrocarbon contributors after methane to overall kinetic reactivity
Putting the Dietary Guidelines for Americans into Action through the National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health
The United States is facing a crisis of widespread food insecurity and exceedingly high rates of diet-related diseases like diabetes, obesity, and hypertension. To address this challenge and set a course for improved nutrition and food access nationwide, the Biden-Harris Administration hosted the first White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health in over 50 years on September 28, 2022. In the National Strategy, released in conjunction with the Conference, the Administration identified a set of actions that the federal government will take to help achieve its goal of ending hunger and increasing healthy eating and physical activity by 2030, so that fewer Americans experience diet-related diseases. Underpinning many of these actions is the Dietary Guidelines for Americans ( Dietary Guidelines ), which provides scientific advice on nutrition intake to meet nutrient needs, promote health, and prevent disease and serves as the cornerstone of federal food and nutrition programs. This manuscript details how expanded implementation of the Dietary Guidelines can help advance actions in the National Strategy and achieve the goals of the Administration

Adolescent Alcohol Usage in Vermont State: A Review of Underage Drinking and its Associations with Suicidality
Objective To understand adolescent alcohol usage in Vermont and its associations with suicidality.
Methods A cross-sectional study, utilizing 2017 high school VT YRBS data. Multiple logistic regression and chi-square tests were run using SPSS 25 software. Two groups of survey respondents were selected to represent alcohol usage, Binge Drinkers and Non-Binge Drinkers. Suicidality was analyzed by group, controlling for the predictor variables: age of first drink, grade level, gender, mental health/depression diagnosis, other drug usage, socioeconomic status, and ease of access to alcohol.
Results This study provides state-specific data regarding increased likelihoods of suicide and underage drinking in Vermont. Conclusions Binge drinking activity amongst Vermont’s high school aged youth was associated with a two-fold increase in the odds of making a suicide plan.
Policy Implications The association between suicidality and binge drinking among Vermont high school-aged youth should be used to inform education and policies to decrease teen binge drinkin
Men’s Pelvic Health Content in Entry-Level Doctor of Physical Therapy Curricula: A Physical Therapy Clinician Perspective
Introducation
Pelvic floor musculature is involved in sexual, bowel, and bladder function, organ support, breathing, and load transfer.1 Sixteen percent of males experience pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD).1 Therefore, it is important for physical therapists to adequately screen male patients to identify PFD either for proper treatment or referral to a men’s pelvic health (MPH) provider.
The Academy of Pelvic Health (APH) offers Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) curricular guidelines for Women’s Health content, but to date has no published guidelines for MPH.
Objective
The purpose of this study was to gain clinician perspective to assist in the development of DPT curricular guidelines for MPH content.
Participants
Licensed physical therapists on the mailing list of the APH.
Methods
A mixed-methods survey was distributed via email newsletter. Question formats included: yes/no, multiple choice, select all that apply, 5-point Likert scale, and open- ended response(s). Questions regarding the incorporation of, and barriers to, inclusion of MPH content in DPT curricula were included. Descriptive statistics and frequencies were calculated using various functions in Microsoft Excel®. Qualitative data from free response questions were coded and categorized into themes using a grounded theory methodology.
Results
A total of 203 survey responses were received for quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Student physical therapists and physical therapy assistants were excluded from participation.
Conclusion
The majority of survey participants agreed that inclusion of MPH education in entry-level DPT curricula is important and that it would be best delivered through a pelvic health course within the curriculum.
Clinical Relevance
The data received through this survey may be used to assist in the development of MPH curricular guidelines. DPT programs should implement further MPH content to prepare students for proper screening and treatment or referral of patients with PFD. By doing so, patients will receive the necessary treatment more quickly and may experience improved outcomes
Pediatric emergency medicine point-of-care ultrasound: summary of the evidence.
The utility of point-of-care ultrasound is well supported by the medical literature. Consequently, pediatric emergency medicine providers have embraced this technology in everyday practice. Recently, the American Academy of Pediatrics published a policy statement endorsing the use of point-of-care ultrasound by pediatric emergency medicine providers. To date, there is no standard guideline for the practice of point-of-care ultrasound for this specialty. This document serves as an initial step in the detailed how to and description of individual point-of-care ultrasound examinations. Pediatric emergency medicine providers should refer to this paper as reference for published research, objectives for learners, and standardized reporting guidelines
HIV Stigma: Perspectives from Kenyan Child Caregivers and Adolescents Living with HIV
Stigma shapes all aspects of HIV prevention and treatment, yet there are limited data on how HIV-infected youth and their families are affected by stigma in sub-Saharan Africa. The authors conducted a qualitative study using focus group discussions among 39 HIV-infected adolescents receiving care at HIV clinics in western Kenya and 53 caregivers of HIV-infected children. Participants felt that while knowledge and access to treatment were increasing, many community members still held negative and inaccurate views about HIV, including associating it with immorality and believing in transmission by casual interactions. Stigma was closely related to a loss of social and economic support but also included internalized negative feelings about oneself. Participants identified treatment-related impacts of stigma, including nonadherence, nondisclosure of status to child or others, and increased mental health problems. Qualitative inquiry also provided insights into how to measure and reduce stigma among affected individuals and families
