    A multi-device version of the HYFMGPU algorithm for hyperspectral scenes registration

The final authenticated version is available online at: https://doi.org/10.1007/s11227-018-2689-7Hyperspectral image registration is a relevant task for real-time applications like environmental disasters management or search and rescue scenarios. Traditional algorithms were not really devoted to real-time performance, even when ported to GPUs or other parallel devices. Thus, the HYFMGPU algorithm arose as a solution to such a lack. Nevertheless, as sensors are expected to evolve and thus generate images with finer resolutions and wider wavelength ranges, a multi-GPU implementation of this algorithm seems to be necessary in a near future. This work presents a multi-device MPI + CUDA implementation of the HYFMGPU algorithm that distributes all its stages among several GPUs. This version has been validated testing it for 5 different real hyperspectral images, with sizes from about 80 MB to nearly 2 GB, achieving speedups for the whole execution of the algorithm from 1.18 × to 1.59 × in 2 GPUs and from 1.26 × to 2.58 × in 4 GPUs.     Sports television programmes and their relationship with the social audience on Twitter in Spain

    This study presents an analysis of the relationship between viewers of sports TV programmes and Twitter users in Spain. Methods: The research is based on a quantitative method that involves the analysis of a sample of 150 TV programmes that made it to the top five most-discussed TV programmes of the day in Twitter (during a month). Together, these programmes attracted a total of 1,838,056 Twitter users. The quantitative comparative analysis and the Pearson’s correlation coefficient were used to test three research hypotheses. Results and conclusions: Sports TV programmes are discussed by 34.8% of the sample of Twitter users: the sports TV programmes that are the most popular on Twitter are not the most watched on traditional TV; the percentage of interaction on Twitter around sports TV programmes is still very low in quantitative terms in comparison to these programmes’ TV viewers

    Contributions on Transmitarrays for Far-Field Applications

    XI Encuentro Ibérico de Electromagnetismo Computacional-IIEC, 8-11 de noviembre de 2016, Asturias (España)Different contributions made to the development of Transmitarrays (TA) for Far-Filed applications are presented in this contribution. Firstly, a unit cell, based on four patches coupled by a slot or a symmetric cross, is introduced, and then, an arraybased model used to analyze a system formed by a TA and a planar lens in a time-efficient manner without using a full-wave method. Thus, both features are used to design and analyze the different prototypes reviewed in this contribution. That is, an ultra-thin planar lenses based on a 2-bit unit cell and a dualpolarized TA that has been designed in order to be used in polarized agile antenna. Thus, by rotating the feed of the system, a linear polarized antenna, it is possible to obtain any kind of polarization, form linear to circular. Finally, this TA has been used in a multibeam application fed with a network of quasi-yagi antenna

    Active aluminum window-frame integrated prototype with a thermoelectric heat recovery system for ventilation and air conditioning

    [EN] Research interest in the integration of thermoelectric systems in the building envelope have increased during the last years. Studies show that regardless of a low COP compared to vapor compression systems; thermoelectric systems present other remarkable features for heating, cooling and ventilation on buildings. Among those studies, a few prototype experiences incorporate thermoelectric systems on windows.Alternatively, standard air conditioning systems often require additional equipment installed on façade or wall surfaces that compromise the use of space in the case of building refurbishment. Thus, the integration of thermoelectric systems on window framing is presented here as a decentralized alternative for air conditioning support, whose performance aims at balancing out the heat losses in windows. The purpose of this communication is to present the development of an active aluminum window-framing prototype with a thermoelectric heat recovery system for heating and cooling. In a typical single-floor house scenario, the active window-frame works in two different modes: pre heating/cooling mode applying forced convection through a mechanical fan and pre heating/cooling mode with natural convection.     Novel optoelectronic platform for label-free biosensing of influenza detection based on interferometric transducers

    The main goal of this project is to present an Optical Label-free Point-ofCare Device based on a novel read-out methodology that enhances significantly the biosensing response in terms of sensitivity and LoD, using a simple, fast and reliable interrogation process. The performance of this PoC device is verified by carrying out the calibration curve for the indirect immunoassay of Influenza Virus and comparing it with high-resolution spectrometry using the same Fabry-Perot interferometers as biosensors

    Effectiveness of an intervention for improving drug prescription in primary care patients with multimorbidity and polypharmacy:Study protocol of a cluster randomized clinical trial (Multi-PAP project)

    This study was funded by the Fondo de Investigaciones Sanitarias ISCIII (Grant Numbers PI15/00276, PI15/00572, PI15/00996), REDISSEC (Project Numbers RD12/0001/0012, RD16/0001/0005), and the European Regional Development Fund ("A way to build Europe").Background: Multimorbidity is associated with negative effects both on people's health and on healthcare systems. A key problem linked to multimorbidity is polypharmacy, which in turn is associated with increased risk of partly preventable adverse effects, including mortality. The Ariadne principles describe a model of care based on a thorough assessment of diseases, treatments (and potential interactions), clinical status, context and preferences of patients with multimorbidity, with the aim of prioritizing and sharing realistic treatment goals that guide an individualized management. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a complex intervention that implements the Ariadne principles in a population of young-old patients with multimorbidity and polypharmacy. The intervention seeks to improve the appropriateness of prescribing in primary care (PC), as measured by the medication appropriateness index (MAI) score at 6 and 12months, as compared with usual care. Methods/Design: Design:pragmatic cluster randomized clinical trial. Unit of randomization: family physician (FP). Unit of analysis: patient. Scope: PC health centres in three autonomous communities: Aragon, Madrid, and Andalusia (Spain). Population: patients aged 65-74years with multimorbidity (≥3 chronic diseases) and polypharmacy (≥5 drugs prescribed in ≥3months). Sample size: n=400 (200 per study arm). Intervention: complex intervention based on the implementation of the Ariadne principles with two components: (1) FP training and (2) FP-patient interview. Outcomes: MAI score, health services use, quality of life (Euroqol 5D-5L), pharmacotherapy and adherence to treatment (Morisky-Green, Haynes-Sackett), and clinical and socio-demographic variables. Statistical analysis: primary outcome is the difference in MAI score between T0 and T1 and corresponding 95% confidence interval. Adjustment for confounding factors will be performed by multilevel analysis. All analyses will be carried out in accordance with the intention-to-treat principle. Discussion: It is essential to provide evidence concerning interventions on PC patients with polypharmacy and multimorbidity, conducted in the context of routine clinical practice, and involving young-old patients with significant potential for preventing negative health outcomes.
