Gaga??? chicken was known as a local chicken at South Sulawesi Indonesia which has unique, specific,\ud and different crowing sound, especially at the ending of crowing sound which is like the voice character of human\ud laughing, comparing with the other types of singing chicken in the world. 287 birds of Gaga??? chicken at 3 districts\ud at the centre habitat of Gaga??? chicken were separated into 2 groups (163 birds of Dangdut type and 124 birds of\ud Slow type) which is based on the speed of crowing rhythm and total number of crowing syllables). The Dangdut\ud type was separated again into 2 groups which were based on total crowing syllable (33 birds of long-group and 130\ud birds of short-group). The parameters were measured, recorded, and analyzed for crowing duration and number of\ud crowing syllables (total, 1st wave, and 2nd wave) using the voice recording tool and software Sound Forge Xp.10.\ud Average crowing duration (second) of long-Dangdut group, short-Dangdut group, Slow type were 30.8 seconds, 4.2\ud seconds, and 3.7 seconds, respectively while those for total number of syllables were 143, 21, and 8, respectively.\ud Crowing duration of Gaga??? chicken was longer than Pelung chicken as singing chicken of Indonesia and Koeyoshi\ud chicken as singing chicken of Japan while those for number of syllable were more than Kokok Balenggek chicken\ud as singing chicken of West Sumatera. The crowing character of Gaga??? chicken could be as identifier as one of\ud singing chicken in Indonesia and as a criterion selection of melodious crowing chicken

2015FACHRI ASHARI (I111 11 306). Presentasi homogenitas data kambing Marica yang\ud tersisa sangat tinggi (KV<20%) sehingga sulit dilakukan seleksi.\ud Kata Kunci : Sifat Kuantitatif, Kambing Marica, Kambing Kacang, Dimensi Tubu

Gaga???chicken is germplasm, genetic resources, and indigenous chicken of South-Sulawesi Indonesia with unique, exlusive, superiority of bioacoustic character with long-melodious rhythm, and different crowing style-tone-tempo comparing with other singing chickens in the world. The Gaga???chicken specificity was the stuttering voices at the ending of crowing sound. Some crowing character informations of Gaga??? chicken were needed to optimize both conservation and utilization strategies. This research was done to describe the crowing duration and number of crowing syllables of Gaga chicken. This research used 532 birds Gaga???chicken from Sidrap, Barru, and Maros Districts South-Sulawesi Indonesia. They were separated based on crowing speed into Slow-type (234 birds) and Dangdut-type (298 birds). Dangdut-type were separated again, based on total number of crowing syllables, into Long-Dangdut-type (51 birds) and Short-Dangdut-type (247 birds). All crowing sounds were recorded and computering digitalized using the Sound-ForgeXp.10 to visualized the bioacoustic character as a wave form then data interpreting for analyzing the mean and standard deviation. The average crowing duration of Long-Dangdut-type, Short-Dangdut-type, and Slow-type were 30.52 seconds, 4.11 seconds, and 3.65 seconds and total number of syllables were 140.9, 20.9, and 8.3 syllables, respectively. The crowing duration of Gaga???chicken were longer than Pelung chicken as famous singing chicken from West-Java Indonesia and have more number of syllables than Kokok Balenggek chicken from West-Sumatera as singing chicken with long rhyme. The unique crowing character of Gaga???chicken could be as identifier of one variety of singing chicken in Indonesia and criterion selection of melodious crowing chicken.\ud Keywords : Gaga???chicken, Singing chicken, Crowing syllable, Crowing duratio
