    Supervisor leadership style, employee regulatory focus, and leadership performance: A perspectivism approach

    [EN] Drawing on regulatory focus theory, this research proposes that transformational leadership performance depends on followers' circumstances. The analysis of 125 people from two Spanish service firms reveals that, apart from transformational leadership, the presence of academic education, intrinsic job satisfaction and high customer contact, and the absence of family responsibilities, are core conditions for the presence of high leadership performance. The first contribution of this study is the direct inference of follower's regulatory focus from the observation of individuals' circumstances.     2-D Simulation of the Catalytic Dechlorination of P-Chlorophenol in a Magnetically Stabilized Fluidized Bed

    This study adopted the fundamentals of the catalytic dechlorination of p-chlorophenol in a MSFB column, technology developed by Graham (1). A CFD-DPM approach is used to simulate the catalytic process.     New Physics effects in the flavor-changing neutral couplings of the Top quark

    We survey the flavor-changing neutral couplings (FCNC) of the top quark predicted by some extensions of the Standard Model: THDM, SUSY, L-R symmetric, TC2, 331, and models with extra quarks. Since the expected sensitivity of the LHC and ILC for the tcV (V=\gamma,g,Z) and tcH couplings is of order of a few percent, we emphasize the importance of any new physics effect that gives a prediction for these FCNC couplings within this limit.     Testing Gaussianity on Archeops Data

    A Gaussianity analysis using a goodness-of-fit test and the Minkowski functionals on the sphere has been performed to study the measured Archeops Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) temperature anisotropy data for a 143 GHz Archeops bolometer. We consider large angular scales, greater than 1.8 degrees, and a large fraction of the North Galactic hemisphere, around 16%, with a galactic latitude b > 15 degrees. The considered goodness-of-fit test, first proposed by Rayner & Best (1989), has been applied to the data after a signal-to-noise decomposition. The three Minkowski functionals on the sphere have been used to construct a chi-square statistic using different thresholds. The first method has been calibrated using simulations of Archeops data containing the CMB signal and instrumental noise in order to check its asymptotic convergence. Two kind of maps produced with two different map-making techniques (coaddition and Mirage) have been analysed. Archeops maps for both Mirage and coaddition map-making, have been found to be compatible with Gaussianity. From these results we can exclude a dust and atmospheric contamination larger than 7.8% (90% CL). Also the non-linear coupling parameter f_{nl} can be constrained to be -800 < f_{nl} < 1100 at the 95% CL and on angular scales of 1.8 degrees. For comparison, the same method has been applied to data from the NASA WMAP satellite in the same region of sky. The 1-year and 3-year releases have been used. Results are compatible with those obtained with Archeops, implying in particular an upper limit for f_{nl} on degree angular scales.Comment: A&A accepted.     Preparation of nanostructured nickel aluminate spinel powder from spent NiO/Al2O3 catalyst by mechano-chemical synthesis

    In this paper, the possibility of mechano-chemical synthesis, as a single step process for preparation of nanostructured nickel aluminate spinel powder from NiO/Al2O3 spent catalyst was investigated. Powder samples were characterized in terms of composition, morphology, structure, particle size and surface area using complementary techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), differential thermal analysis (DTA) and volumetric adsorption of nitrogen. It was found that formation of spinel was possible after 60 h of milling with no heat treatment. Additionally, influence of mechanical activation on the heat treatment temperature was discussed. It was observed that heat treatment of 15 h milled sample at 1100 °C is enough to produce nickel aluminate spinel. A product of direct mechanical milling showed higher value of surface area (42.3 m2/g) and smaller crystallite size (12 nm) as compared to the heat treated product.Gobierno de España ENE 2007-67926-C02-0

    We study the complete one-loop contributions to the chromagnetic dipole moment Δκ\Delta\kappa of the top quark in the Standard Model, two Higgs doublet models, topcolor assited technicolor models (TC2), 331 models and extended models with a single extra dimension.     Randomized phase II study of fulvestrant plus palbociclib or placebo in endocrine-sensitive, hormone receptor-positive/HER2–advanced breast cancer: GEICAM/2014–12 (FLIPPER)

    Background The potential benefit of adding palbociclib to fulvestrant as first-line treatment in hormone receptor (HR)-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative endocrine-sensitive advanced breast cancer (ABC) patients remains uncharacterized. Patients and methods In this randomized (1:1), double-blind, phase II study, postmenopausal women with HR-positive, HER2-negative ABC with de novo metastatic disease or those who relapsed after >12 months of adjuvant endocrine therapy received palbociclib/fulvestrant or placebo/fulvestrant. Stratification was based on recurrent versus de novo metastatic disease and visceral involvement. The primary objective was one-year progression-free survival (PFS-1y) rate. The sample size was 190 patients. The two-sided alpha of 0.2, 80% of power to detect a difference between the arms, assuming PFS rates of 0.695 and 0.545 for palbociclib/fulvestrant and placebo/fulvestrant, respectively. Results In total, 189 patients were randomized to palbociclib/fulvestrant ([n = 94] or placebo/fulvestrant [n = 95]). 45.5% and 60.3% of patients had de novo metastatic disease and visceral involvement, respectively. PFS-1y rates were 83.5% and 71.9% in the palbociclib/fulvestrant and placebo/fulvestrant arms, (HR 0.55, 80% CI 0.36–0.83, P = 0.064). The median PFS were 31.8 and 22.0 months for the palbociclib/fulvestrant and placebo/fulvestrant arms (aHR 0.48, 80% CI 0.37–0.64, P = 0.001). The most frequent grade 3–4 adverse events were neutropenia (68.1% vs. 0%), leucopenia (26.6% vs. 0%), anemia (3.2% vs. 0%), and lymphopenia (14.9% vs. 2.1%) for the palbociclib/fulvestrant and placebo/fulvestrant, respectively. The most frequent non-hematologic grade 3–4 adverse event was fatigue (4.3% vs. 0%). Conclusions Palbociclib/fulvestrant demonstrated better PFS-1y rates and median PFS than placebo/fulvestrant in HR-positive/HER2-negative endocrine-sensitive ABC patients

    Technical and economical study of two tropical leguminous forages to feed dairy cows in the NW region of Dominican Republic

    Two tropical leguminous forages are used as a partial substitute of the concentrate feed to milk production and its viability in the Northwest region of Dominican Republic is studied. Twelve dairy cows are used (crosses between Holstein and Brown Swiss and Jersey) in a fully random experimental design, with three treatments and four repetitions. In treatment I feed supplementation was 8 kg of concentrate per cow and day; while, in treatment II animals were fed with 4 kg of concentrate and 5 kg DM of leguminous forages. Treatment III supplementation was 4 kg of concentrate and a grass-leguminous forage mixture ad libitum. The experiment was carried out during 10 weeks and an individual milk production control was realised every day during this time. Results don"t show significant differences (p³0,05) for individual production neither accumulated one respecting the three proposed treatments. The study of gross margin according to treatment don’t show significant differences (p³0,05). However, simulation analysis of scenes for treatment I shows a high sensibility to modify the price of variable factor (concentrate). On the other hand, the treatment II showed superior margin and high stability to the price variation for inputs and outputs, and so was the treatment of choice in all the scenes simulated independently of milk and concentrate prices.Se estudió la utilización de leguminosas forrajeras tropicales como sustitutivo parcial del concentrado en la producción lechera y su viabilidad en la región noroeste de la República Dominicana. Se utilizan 12 vacas lecheras (cruces de Holstein con Pardo Suizo y Jersey) en un diseño experimental aleatorio con tres tratamientos y cuatro repeticiones. En el tratamiento I se suplementa con 8 kg de concentrado por vaca y día; en tanto que, en el tratamiento II se suplementan con 4 kg de concentrado y 5 kg de materia seca (MS) de una leguminosa forrajera tropical. En el tratamiento III se aporta una suplementación de 4 kg de concentrado y una asociación de una gramínea y otra leguminosa tropical ad libitum. La experiencia se desarrolló durante 10 semanas y cada día se realizó el control lechero individual. Los resultados muestran la ausencia de diferencias significativas (p³0,05) en la producción individual y acumulada respecto a los tres tratamientos propuestos. Al enfrentar el margen bruto respecto al tratamiento no se observan diferencias significativas (p³0,05). No obstante el análisis de simulación de escenarios muestra que el tratamiento I es muy sensible a la modificación del precio del factor variable (concentrado). Por otro lado, el tratamiento II presenta margen superior y alta estabilidad ante la variación de los precios de los insumos/productos y se muestra como tratamiento de elección en todos los escenarios simulados independientemente de los precios de la leche y el concentrado
