Intensivtransport Neugeborener mit respiratorischem Versagen
<jats:title>Zusammenfassung</jats:title><jats:sec>
<jats:title>Hintergrund und Ziel der Studie</jats:title>
<jats:p>Der Transport von FrĂŒh und Neugeborenen mit respiratorischem Versagen ist mit einem hohen Transportrisiko assoziiert und stellt höchste Anforderungen an medizinisches Personal und technische AusrĂŒstung. Eine kontinuierliche ĂberprĂŒfung der QualitĂ€t ist daher unumgĂ€nglich. Ziel dieser monozentrischen retrospektiven Analyse ist es, die MortalitĂ€t transportierter Neugeborener mit respiratorischem Versagen mithilfe eines Outcomescores, Transport Risk index of Physiologic Stability, Version II, (TRIPS-II-Score) und im Vergleich zu bereits publizierter Literatur zu analysieren.</jats:p>
</jats:sec><jats:sec>
<jats:title>Methodik</jats:title>
<jats:p>Es wurden 79 Intensivtransporte von FrĂŒh- und Neugeborenen mit hochgradigem respiratorischem Versagen retrospektiv analysiert. Zur EinschĂ€tzung des Transportrisikos und der TransportqualitĂ€t wurde der TRIPS-II-Score erhoben und mit der Literatur verglichen.</jats:p>
</jats:sec><jats:sec>
<jats:title>Ergebnisse</jats:title>
<jats:p>Insgesamt wurden 77 Patienten luft- (<jats:italic>n</jats:italic>âŻ=â56, 73âŻ%) oder bodengebunden (<jats:italic>n</jats:italic>âŻ=â21, 27âŻ%) transportiert. Zwei Patienten verstarben vor dem Transport. Kein Patient verstarb wĂ€hrend des Transports. Alle Patienten mussten invasiv beatmet werden, davon 22 (29âŻ%) mit Hochfrequenzoszillation (HFOV) und 55 (71 %) erhielten inhalatives Stickoxid (iNO). Der mittlere Oxygenierungsindex (OI) betrug 33 [4-100, min.-max.] Insgesamt mussten 24 Patienten (31âŻ%) nach Aufnahme einer ECMO-Therapie unterzogen werden. Insgesamt verstarben 20 (26âŻ%) Neugeborene, 7 davon in der ECMO-Therapie-Gruppe.</jats:p>

<jats:title>Schlussfolgerung</jats:title>
<jats:p>Transporte von Neugeborenen mit schwerem Lungenversagen können durch den Einsatz eines spezialisierten Teams mit Sonderequipment meist komplikationslos durchgefĂŒhrt werden. Die scheinbar sehr hohe MortalitĂ€t ist mit Daten der internationalen Literatur vergleichbar.</jats:p>

Gas exchange mechanisms in preterm infants on HFOV - a computational approach
High-frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV) is a commonly used therapy applied to neonates requiring ventilatory support during their first weeks of life. Despite its wide application, the underlying gas exchange mechanisms promoting the success of HVOF in neonatal care are not fully understood until today. In this work, a highly resolved computational lung model, derived from Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Infant Lung Function Testing (ILFT), is used to reveal the reason for highly efficient gas exchange during HFOV, in the preterm infant. In total we detected six mechanisms that facilitate gas exchange during HFOV: (i) turbulent vortices in large airways;(ii) asymmetric in-and expiratory flow profiles;(iii) radial mixing in main bronchi;(iv) laminar flow in higher generations of the respiratory tract;(v) pendelluft;(vi) direct ventilation of central alveoli. The illustration of six specific gas transport phenomena during HFOV in preterm infants advances general knowledge on protective ventilation in neonatal care and can support decisions on various modes of ventilatory therapy at high frequencies
Skyrmion Hall Effect Revealed by Direct Time-Resolved X-Ray Microscopy
Magnetic skyrmions are highly promising candidates for future spintronic
applications such as skyrmion racetrack memories and logic devices. They
exhibit exotic and complex dynamics governed by topology and are less
influenced by defects, such as edge roughness, than conventionally used domain
walls. In particular, their finite topological charge leads to a predicted
"skyrmion Hall effect", in which current-driven skyrmions acquire a transverse
velocity component analogous to charged particles in the conventional Hall
effect. Here, we present nanoscale pump-probe imaging that for the first time
reveals the real-time dynamics of skyrmions driven by current-induced spin
orbit torque (SOT). We find that skyrmions move at a well-defined angle
{\Theta}_{SH} that can exceed 30{\deg} with respect to the current flow, but in
contrast to theoretical expectations, {\Theta}_{SH} increases linearly with
velocity up to at least 100 m/s. We explain our observation based on internal
mode excitations in combination with a field-like SOT, showing that one must go

The Epoch of Disk Settling: z~1 to Now
We present evidence from a sample of 544 galaxies from the DEEP2 Survey for
evolution of the internal kinematics of blue galaxies with stellar masses
ranging 8.0 < log M* (M_Sun) < 10.7 over 0.2<z<1.2. DEEP2 provides galaxy
spectra and Hubble imaging from which we measure emission-line kinematics and
galaxy inclinations, respectively. Our large sample allows us to overcome
scatter intrinsic to galaxy properties in order to examine trends in
kinematics. We find that at a fixed stellar mass galaxies systematically
decrease in disordered motions and increase in rotation velocity and potential
well depth with time. Massive galaxies are the most well-ordered at all times
examined, with higher rotation velocities and less disordered motions than less
massive galaxies. We quantify disordered motions with an integrated gas
velocity dispersion corrected for beam smearing (sigma_g). It is unlike the
typical pressure-supported velocity dispersion measured for early type galaxies
and galaxy bulges. Because both seeing and the width of our spectral slits
comprise a significant fraction of the galaxy sizes, sigma_g integrates over
velocity gradients on large scales which can correspond to non-ordered gas
kinematics. We compile measurements of galaxy kinematics from the literature
over 1.2<z<3.8 and do not find any trends with redshift, likely for the most
part because these datasets are biased toward the most highly star-forming
systems. In summary, over the last ~8 billion years since z=1.2, blue galaxies
evolve from disordered to ordered systems as they settle to become the
rotation-dominated disk galaxies observed in the Universe today, with the most

CANDELS: The Cosmic Assembly Near-infrared Deep Extragalactic Legacy Survey - The Hubble Space Telescope Observations, Imaging Data Products and Mosaics
This paper describes the Hubble Space Telescope imaging data products and
data reduction procedures for the Cosmic Assembly Near-IR Deep Extragalactic
Legacy Survey (CANDELS). This survey is designed to document the evolution of
galaxies and black holes at , and to study Type Ia SNe beyond
. Five premier multi-wavelength sky regions are selected, each with
extensive multiwavelength observations. The primary CANDELS data consist of
imaging obtained in the Wide Field Camera 3 / infrared channel (WFC3/IR) and
UVIS channel, along with the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS). The
CANDELS/Deep survey covers \sim125 square arcminutes within GOODS-N and
GOODS-S, while the remainder consists of the CANDELS/Wide survey, achieving a
total of \sim800 square arcminutes across GOODS and three additional fields
(EGS, COSMOS, and UDS). We summarize the observational aspects of the survey as
motivated by the scientific goals and present a detailed description of the
data reduction procedures and products from the survey. Our data reduction
methods utilize the most up to date calibration files and image combination
procedures. We have paid special attention to correcting a range of
instrumental effects, including CTE degradation for ACS, removal of electronic
bias-striping present in ACS data after SM4, and persistence effects and other
artifacts in WFC3/IR. For each field, we release mosaics for individual epochs
and eventual mosaics containing data from all epochs combined, to facilitate
photometric variability studies and the deepest possible photometry. A more
detailed overview of the science goals and observational design of the survey

The Cosmic Assembly Near-infrared Deep Extragalactic Legacy Survey (CANDELS)
is designed to document the first third of galactic evolution, over the
approximate redshift (z) range 8--1.5. It will image >250,000 distant galaxies
using three separate cameras on the Hubble Space Telescope, from the
mid-ultraviolet to the near-infrared, and will find and measure Type Ia
supernovae at z>1.5 to test their accuracy as standardizable candles for
cosmology. Five premier multi-wavelength sky regions are selected, each with
extensive ancillary data. The use of five widely separated fields mitigates
cosmic variance and yields statistically robust and complete samples of
galaxies down to a stellar mass of 10^9 M_\odot to z \approx 2, reaching the
knee of the ultraviolet luminosity function (UVLF) of galaxies to z \approx 8.
The survey covers approximately 800 arcmin^2 and is divided into two parts. The
CANDELS/Deep survey (5\sigma\ point-source limit H=27.7 mag) covers \sim 125
arcmin^2 within GOODS-N and GOODS-S. The CANDELS/Wide survey includes GOODS and
three additional fields (EGS, COSMOS, and UDS) and covers the full area to a
5\sigma\ point-source limit of H \gtrsim 27.0 mag. Together with the Hubble
Ultra Deep Fields, the strategy creates a three-tiered "wedding cake" approach
that has proven efficient for extragalactic surveys. Data from the survey are
nonproprietary and are useful for a wide variety of science investigations. In
this paper, we describe the basic motivations for the survey, the CANDELS team
science goals and the resulting observational requirements, the field selection

Identification of regulatory variants associated with genetic susceptibility to meningococcal disease.
Non-coding genetic variants play an important role in driving susceptibility to complex diseases but their characterization remains challenging. Here, we employed a novel approach to interrogate the genetic risk of such polymorphisms in a more systematic way by targeting specific regulatory regions relevant for the phenotype studied. We applied this method to meningococcal disease susceptibility, using the DNA binding pattern of RELA - a NF-kB subunit, master regulator of the response to infection - under bacterial stimuli in nasopharyngeal epithelial cells. We designed a custom panel to cover these RELA binding sites and used it for targeted sequencing in cases and controls. Variant calling and association analysis were performed followed by validation of candidate polymorphisms by genotyping in three independent cohorts. We identified two new polymorphisms, rs4823231 and rs11913168, showing signs of association with meningococcal disease susceptibility. In addition, using our genomic data as well as publicly available resources, we found evidences for these SNPs to have potential regulatory effects on ATXN10 and LIF genes respectively. The variants and related candidate genes are relevant for infectious diseases and may have important contribution for meningococcal disease pathology. Development Of SCIAMACHY Operational ESA Level 2 Products Towards Version 5 And Beyond
Since the foundation of the SCIAMACHY Quality Working Group (SQWG) in a joint ESA-DLR-NIVR inter-agency effort in late 2006, the ESA operational Level 2 processor was significantly improved w.r.t. data quality and product range. During the last two years the product list was substantially enhanced by new (total columns of SO2, BrO, OClO, H2O, CO, Limb BrO profiles, Limb cloud flags) and improved products (total columns of O3, NO2, Absorbing Aerosol Index, Limb O3 profiles, Limb NO2 profiles).
For example, important improvements were achieved in the O3 and NO2 profile calculation by implementing an upgraded retrieval scheme and using now Level 1b version 7.0 data with an improved pointing correction. Nadir products of total column O3 and Absorbing Aerosol Index were improved by applying a radiometric degradation correction (m-factors) in the Level 1 to 2 processing step
Why love has wings and sex has not: how reminders of love and sex influence creative and analytic thinking
This article examines cognitive links between romantic love and creativity and between sexual desire and analytic thought based on construal level theory. It suggests that when in love, people typically focus on a long-term perspective, which should enhance holistic thinking and thereby creative thought, whereas when experiencing sexual encounters, they focus on the present and on concrete details enhancing analytic thinking. Because people automatically activate these processing styles when in love or when they experience sex, subtle or even unconscious reminders of love versus sex should suffice to change processing modes. Two studies explicitly or subtly reminded participants of situations of love or sex and found support for this hypothesis
