Background: Pulmonary diseases are one of the most common causes of mortality worldwide. In some cases lung transplantation is the only curative treatment. Unfortunately, very few lungs are available for transplantation and also the 5-year survival after lung transplantation is only 50%. Furthermore, transplant recipients require immunosuppressant therapy in that’s time. Currently, production of engineered lung tissue using in vitro stem cells is a promising approach. Extraction of natural ECM or decellularization of lung and application of it in tissue engineering is one of the most important strategies in this regard. Using this technique can preserve the natural characteristics of the ECM and would leads to the removal of the immunogen agents (MHC I, II) and allows reconstruction of graft. Objective: In this study we have decellularized rat lung and cultured bone marrow stem cells on it to evaluate differentiative potential of it. Methods: In this study along with extraction of rat lung, its femur and tibia bones were also isolated for extraction of mesenchymal stem cells. Lung tissue was decellularized using SDS detergent. SEM and H&E staining used to assay decellularization. Finally mesenchymal stem cells were seed on the decellularized tissue sections and immunocytochemistry for CC10 and SPD; as markers for differentiation toward lung cells, performed on these cells after 21 days. Results:In the H&E slides of decellularized tissue there were not any cells. In the electron microscope images of decellularized tissue compared with normal tissue, alveolar structure was well maintained. Also, immunocytochemistry assay showed evidence of differentiation of seeded mesenchymal cells toward lung tissue cells. Conclusion:In this method decellularization take place without any significant change in tissue structure. Decellularized tissue can induce differentiation of bone marrow stem cells toward lung epithelial cells so natural ECM saved relatively

Effect of La³⁺ ions on the habit of KDP crystals

A few KDP (KH2PO4) and KDP: La³⁺ (LaCl₃) single crystals were grown being based on the temperature reduction method. Investigations show that the presence of three valent ions like La³⁺ could be a cause of retarded growth rate and induced crystalline lattice defects. Here the pure KDP crystals are compared with KDP: LaCl₃ before and after their exposure to gamma irradiation. Both types of crystals also were studied in aspect of other structural and optical properties

As pearling has been banned in Iran since 2006, stocks of pearl oysters has not been investigated during these years; therefore, condition of natural habitats for Pinctada radiata in its old habitats was surveyed in present research. Shallow waters around Hendorabi Island were searched with diving and two habitats namely “Sooleh” and “Sahel-e-sheni”, were considered for study. The pearl oysters had most distribution in these habitats in depth ranges of 7 to 12 m and 8 to 11 m, respectively. Total stock in Sooleh and Sahel-e-sheni was surveyed near 35700 and 12563 Pinctada radiata, respectively, of which 22% and 67% were catchable, respectively. Catch Per Unit of Area (CPUA) in Sooleh and Sahel-e-sheni habitats was estimated equal to 0.3 N/m2 in both habitats, and Catch Per Unit of Effort (CPUE) in these habitats was calculated equal to 59.5 N/hr and 50.3 N/hr, respectively. Results of this study demonstrated that area, stocks and CPUA for studied habitats were less than previous years. Despite of interdict of pearling in this region since 7 years ago, stock revival has done slowly

    No full text
KDP single and twin (prepared from two-glued seeds) crystals have been grown by the method of temperature reduction. Then, the grown crystals were cut and polished in the (100) direction for optical characterization. The transmission spectra and XRD analysis of the crystals were determined and compared. The Vickers microhardness tests carried out on the two types showed that duplication of the crystal lattice did not reduce the hardness of it

Background: The workplace social capital is one of the important features of clinical work environment that improves the productivity and quality of services and safety through trust and social participation. Evaluation of workplace social capital requires a valid and reliable scale. The short-form workplace social capital questionnaire developed by Kouvonen has long been used to evaluate the workplace social capital. Objective: To evaluate the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the questionnaire among a group of female Iranian health care workers. Methods: The Persian version of the short-form questionnaire of workplace social capital was finalized after translation and back-translation. 500 female health care workers completed the questionnaire. Then, the content validity and the construct validity of the questionnaire were assessed. The reliability of the questionnaire was assessed by Cronbach's a, theta, and McDonald's Omega. The construct reliability and ICC were also evaluated. Results: Based on the maximum likelihood exploratory factor analysis (n=250) and confirmatory factor analysis (n=250), two factors were identified. The factors could explain 65% of the total variance observed. The model had an acceptable fit: GFI=0.953, CFI=0.973, IFI=0.974, NFI=0.953, PNFI=0.522, RAMSEA=0.090, CMIN/DF=2.751, RMR=0.042. Convergent and divergent validity as well as internal consistency and construct reliability of the questionnaire were confirmed. Conclusion: The Persian version of Kouvonen workplace social capital has acceptable validity and reliability. The questionnaire can thus be used in future studies to assess the workplace social capital in Iranian health care workers.Peer reviewe

AbstractIntroductionNecrotizing sarcoid granulomatosis (NSG) is a rare syndrome with unknown etiology. The disease is frequently confused with sarcoidosis and other granulomatous diseases. Diagnosis is made based on typical histologic criteria. No specific laboratory finding can confirm NSG diagnosis. The gender ratio of women to men has been reported as being as high as 4:1 and has a good prognosis. Methods and resultsIn this report, the clinical and genetic features were surveyed of a 36-year-old male with extra-pulmonary NSG with unique manifestations, such as inguinal mass with positive smear and negative culture for the infection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB), which was not responsive to the first-line TB treatment and was characterized as a multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis (TB). Later on, he was admitted for the MDR cure, and he did not react to the gold standard of MDR treatment. Finally, he presented with a huge lymphoid granuloma with massive ascites that was diagnosed as an NSG by IHC. He cured well with prednisolone and all symptoms of the disease were gone. At the hospitalization time, all laboratory experiments were well planned, such as a workup for the detection of defects of loop IL-12/IFN-γ, HLA-DR typing, and immunologic workup by flow-cytometry analysis.ConclusionThis is the first case report from patients with unique features of NSG combined with MTB

Pearling in Northern Persian Gulf has barred since 2006. Population dynamic and investigation of stock condition of pearl oysters has not done in thease area in thease years heretofore. For identification of habitats of Pinctada radiata, mohar oyster, primary sea tours in coastal waters of 11 regions in Lavan Island, 11 regions in hendorabi Island and 6 regions in Nakhiloo and Michaeil Ports, for early survey were done. 2 habitats in Lavan waters and 2 habitats in Hendorabi waters were identified and for investigation of stock condition, were sampled from autumn 2011 to summer 2012, seasonality. Belt transects andrandom quadrates method was used in this sampling. Physicochemical parameters in depth range of thease habitats was evaluated by CTD in first sea tour of stock sampling. Lavan 1 habitat, had maximum area, maximum total stock, maximum CPUA, maximum CPUE and maximum biomass, among other habitats, equal to 60ha, 357000N, 0.6N/m^2, 119N/hr and 4620kg respectively. Biometric data in Hendorabi2 habitat was rather than other habitats, significantly (P<0.01). Infinity length, L_∞, was calculated in Lavan1, Lavan2, Hendorabi1 and Hendorabi2 habitats, equal to 89.16, 87.68, 86.11 and 86.42 mm respectively. Growth constant, K, was estimated in Lavan1, Lavan2, Hendorabi1 and Hendorabi2 habitats, equal to 0.43, 0.44, 0.47 and 0.56 year^-1, respectively. Natural mortality constant, M, was calculated in Lavan1, Lavan2, Hendorabi1 and Hendorabi2 habitats, equal to 0.73, 0.75, 0.78 and 0.88 year^-1, respectively. Results of this project showed, area of investigated habitats, oysters stock of them and CPUA, have diminished in thease years, and interdict of pearl oysters catch was not able to revival of stocks. Majority of physicochemical parameters in depth ranges in surveyed habitas, had significant difference (P<0.01). Water turbidity in Hendorabi2 habitat was rather than other habitat, significantly (P<0.01), as subsidiary of high sedimentation in this habitat and main reason of high natural mortality constant, M, low settlement rate and absence of lower scale of oysters length in Hendorabi2 habitat

Estimation of RC columns’ response under the effect of lateral blast loading by SDOF method and comparison with FEM

    No full text
In most of the structural blast-resistant designs and analysis single degree of freedom (SDOF) method is used. Generally, for this method flexural response of the structural members is considered but in axial loaded members, secondary moments (P-δ effects) are also very important. In the case of columns of building structures, which mostly bear significant axial loads, ignoring P-δ effects under lateral blast loading can be very risky. This paper describes a simple way for taking into account P-δ effects and also the effects of high strain rates (which is very important in severe dynamic loading) in SDOF analysis of reinforced concrete columns under simultaneous axial load and lateral blast loading. The resulting responses are compared with explicit finite element analysis using LS-DYNA hydro-code. Proposed SDOF equation of motion is numerically calculated and secondary moment and high strain rate effects are included within the calculation procedure. Secondary moments due to P-δ effects have been considered as equivalent lateral load and strain effects are introduced to the model by dynamic increasing factors for concrete and steel materials. Based on the main results, estimated response of RC column under blast loading using SDOF method has acceptable accuracy compared to LS-DYNA analysis results
