EL CUERPO Y LAS CIENCIAS SOCIALES

El escrito revisa con alguna exhaustividad la literatura sobre el cuerpo como campo de estudio relativamente reciente en las ciencias sociales y humanas. Enmarca este ámbito cognitivo a partir de una visión epistémica inter y transdisciplinaria. Propone una serie de rutas para indagar teórica y metodológicamente acerca del cuerpo como dimensión primordial y constitutiva de las culturas y las prácticas sociales.   ABSTRACT This paper examines exhaustively the literature on the human body as a relatively recent field of studies in social and human sciences. It frames this cognitive field, applying a trans- as well as inter-disciplinary approach. It proposes a number of theoretical and methodological pathways to investigate body as an essential and constituent dimension of cultural and social practices

La interculturalidad y la salud: reflexiones desde la experiencia

Unlike what is generally assumed in theories and practices regarding intercultural health, which is limited to discussing the coexistence of allopathic and indigenous medicine, our own experience has revealed sociocultural dimensions that at the macro and the micro levels intervene in this relationship. These dimensions involve a wide variety of social actors who give intercultural health a life of its own, while accounting for the challenge of solving health problems among ethnic minorities. Based on these reflections, we emphasize the relevance of conducting long-term studies to deepen, document, and understand the meaning of health practices among indigenous peoples, in terms of their relationship with the wider nature of their culture, social life, and history. This, we believe, is the path to establishing a true intercultural dialogue in health.A diferencia de las teorías y prácticas sobre salud intercultural, que se limitan a plantear y a problematizar la convivencia entre la medicina alópata y la medicina indígena, a partir de nuestra experiencia exponemos en el documento dimensiones socioculturales que a nivel macro y micro median en dicha relación. Estas involucran a una gran diversidad de actores, quienes confieren vida propia a la interculturalidad en salud, dando cuenta del reto que implica solucionar las problemáticas sanitarias de las minorías étnicas. Se plantea la conveniencia de realizar estudios de largo aliento para profundizar, documentar y entender el sentido de las prácticas de atención a la salud de los pueblos indígenas en términos de su relación con el ámbito más amplio de su cultura, vida social y devenir histórico. Esta, consideramos, es la condición para establecer un verdadero diálogo intercultural en salud

Cambios y continuidades de los significados del VIH entre la diversidad sexual chontal en Oaxaca

Even though some aspects of the collective imaginary regarding HIV and aids have changed over time, others have become established, contributing to the stigmatization of those who are socially more vulnerable to contracting the syndrome, such as people representing sexual diversity. In many cases, stigmatization is more devastating than the syndrome itself. Using a qualitative analysis, it was observed that new collective imaginaries are evolving around the chronicity of HIVinfection. However, these meanings were not shared by all the research participants, since the intersectionality of their social, material, and symbolic conditions makes it possible for them to undergo a diversity of experiences, acquire knowledge, and experience desires.Aunque ciertos imaginarios en torno al VIH y al sida cambiaron con el transcurso del tiempo, otros han quedado instituidos, lo que ha favorecido la estigmatización de quienes socialmente son más susceptibles de contraer la infección, como es el caso de quienes representan a la diversidad sexual. En muchos casos esta estigmatización es más devastadora que el propio síndrome. A partir de un análisis cualitativo se observa que se están conformando nuevos imaginarios en torno a la cronicidad del VIH, sin embargo, estos significados no son compartidos por todos(as) los(as) participantes en esta investigación, pues la interseccionalidad de sus condiciones sociales, materiales y simbólicas les posibilita vivir diversas experiencias, adquirir conocimientos y sentir ciertos deseos

Habitus alimentario: prácticas entre trabajadores agrícolas migrantes en una comunidad de Sonora, México

The objective is to analyze the food habitus and the changes in eating practices of pendulum and settled migrant agricultural workers in the city of Miguel Aleman in the state of Sonora. Based on an ethnographic approach, 21 in-depth interviews were conducted with both types of migrants from January 2016 to January 2018. We found that in these migrants, the consumption of industrialized products such as flours and sugars has increased, leading to malnutrition mainly in pendulum migrants and chronic diseases such as diabetes in settled migrants. We conclude that the food habitus is adjusted to the physical and economic availability of food and the logic of agricultural work, with eating structured as a practice of necessity. This reality materially and symbolically reproduces the subordinate position of agricultural workers in the face of the globalized economic and food production models, in which eating practices are debilitated by the difficulties of access to food.El objetivo es analizar el habitus alimentario y los cambios en las prácticas de alimentación, comparando trabajadores agrícolas migrantes pendulares y asentados en la ciudad de Miguel Alemán, del estado de Sonora. A partir de un enfoque etnográfico, se realizaron 21 entrevistas en profundidad entre ambos tipos de migrantes desde enero de 2016 hasta enero de 2018. Encontramos que, en ambos tipos de migrantes, aumenta el consumo de productos industrializados, como harinas y azúcares, cuyos efectos en la salud provocan malnutrición, principalmente en migrantes pendulares, y enfermedades crónicas como diabetes, en migrantes asentados. Concluimos que el habitus alimentario se ajusta a la disponibilidad física y económica de los alimentos y la lógica del trabajo agrícola, así la alimentación se estructura como una práctica por necesidad. Esto reproduce material y simbólicamente la posición subordinada de los trabajadores agrícolas frente al modelo alimentario y económico globalizado, cuyas prácticas de alimentación se recrudecen por las dificultades de acceso a los alimentos
