Numerical method for solving a class of nonlinear elliptic inverse problems
AbstractThis paper discusses a method to solve a family of nonlinear inverse problems with Cauchy conditions on a part of the boundary and no condition at all on another part. An iterative boundary element procedure is proposed. The scheme uses a dynamically estimated relaxation parameter on the under-specified boundary. Various types of convergence, boundary condition formulations and effects of added small perturbations into the input data are investigated. The numerical results show that the method produces a stable reasonably approximate solution
This study was conducted to elucidate the effects of rearing conditions on the composition of different phospholipid (PLs) classes and triacylglycerols (TAG) of the thick-lipped grey mullet (Chelon labrosus), a muscle originating from seawater and geothermal water. The major fatty acids in the examined lipid classes of the two fish groups were palmitic acid (C16:0), stearic acid (C18:0), oleic acid (C18:1n-9), linoleic acid (C18:2n-6), arachidonic acid (C20:4n-6), eicosapentaenoic acid (C20:5n-3), and docosahexaenoic acid (C22:6n-3). The analyses demonstrated that the fatty acid profiles of the PL classes in the seawater fish group were characterized by the predominance of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA). By contrast, in geothermal fish, the distribution of PUFA series proportions differed between the phospholipid fractions. It was found PUFA n-3 was particularly abundant in PS and PI, while the n-6 series dominated the PC and PE PUFA group. Nonetheless, it was found that neutral lipid fatty acids were characterized by saturated fatty acids (SFA) followed by monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) in the seawater fish and by PUFA in the geothermal fish. The results presented here give useful information on the role of lipid classes in the physiological adaptation of C. labrosus which can serve for the optiminzation of these aquaculture systems.
Ensiling characteristics of prickly pear (opuntia-ficus indica) rejects with and without molasses for animal feed
Purpose The aim of this work was to study the effect of adding sugar beet molasses on the biochemical properties, microbial flora, fermentation quality, and aerobic stability of prickly pear cactus (Opuntia ficus-indica) waste silage.Method Molasses (0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10%, w/w) was mixed with the cactus fruit scraps, straw and wheat bran. Results The dry matter content, pH, total and reducing sugars of the pre-ensiling material increased after adding different percentages of the beet molasses (P < 0.05). During fermentation, we observed substantial protein and sugar degradation. All silage treatments reached stable pH values (pH 4.3-4.6). Among all the concentrations, the 10% beet molasses treatment underwent the highest lactic acid fermentation. Accordingly, the pH drop was higher in the 10% concentration (1.13 units) compared to lower beet molasses concertation (1.03 units). Also, the 10% concentration has the highest number of lactic acid bacteria. The number of yeast and total aerobic mesophiles decreased continuously during silage. Moreover, during post-fermentation testing, the yeast multiplied little for the 10% concentration of beet molasses. Conclusion The results show that the addition of molasses has a significant effect on silage characteristics of prickly pear cactus
3D-QSAR, molecular docking, molecular dynamic simulation, and ADMET study of bioactive compounds against candida albicans
Candida albicans has developed significant levels of resistance to traditional antifungals, posing a danger to world health. In this research, the potential inhibitory of a class of twenty-five triazole molecules revealed an activity against candida albicans was addressed by using the three dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship approach. The reliable models developed by CoMFA and CoMSIA/SEA exhibited high values of Q2 (0.620 and 0.733) respectively, and notable values of R2 (0.840 and 0.890) respectively. CoMFA and CoMSIA/SEA contour maps bring a set of information that may be invested to identify the key sites that have an important influence on the candida albicans activity. These findings lead us to design four new triazole compounds with good predicted activity. The new triazole molecules were undergone to in-depth study by assessing their oral bioavailability and toxicity using in silico ADMET prediction. The new molecules T1, T2 and T3 exhibited good properties in terms of numerous pharmacokinetics parameters as absorption, BBB penetration and toxicity. In addition, molecular docking was conducted to identify the types and mode of interactions between triazole ligands and the receptors. The reached findings appeared the high stability of the new triazole scaffolds at the active site of the receptor (PDB code: 2Y7L). The molecule T1 which is exhibited good stability in the active pocket of the receptor was further subjected to a molecular dynamics (MD) simulation using 20 ns in order to scrutinize the protein's comparative conformational dynamics following ligand binding. MD simulation for 20 ns reveals promising results for the molecule T1
The effect of treatment parameters on the coagulation-flocculation of leachate from the Great Agadir controlled discharge
One of the main obstacles to the management of public landfills is leachate from urban garbage. They do pose a harm to the environment and to human health given the amount of pollutants they contain. Depending on the type and age of the waste, the climate, and the terrain of the location, each landfill's composition is different. One of the locations with a leachate management issue is the controlled landfill in Greater Agadir. Leachates have been reduced using a recirculation and sprinkler system, although efficiency is still very poor. The leachate water was diagnosed as having significant organic contamination. This study aims to describe the leachates from several Greater Agadir areas and assess the efficacy of the coagulation-flocculation method of treatment. FeCl3 considerably changed the hue of the leachate, which had a neutral pH, 90% turbidity, and 78.2% COD elimination. This leachate appears to be best suited for modest doses of 3g/L.The research conducted here has also demonstrated that the polyacrylamide flocculant, with a mass of 3 g in the presence of a mass of 3 g ferric chloride, has a turbidity level of 92% and 97% for COD. For 3 g/L of ferric chloride, however, the bioflocculant from "Opuntia cactus" juice also provides good flocculation, with a turbidity removal rate of 98.14% and a COD removal rate of 87%
The copepod Lernaeosera lusci is a common ectoparasite of the hake Merluccius merluccius, which constitutes its definitive host. The present study is the first to investigate the impact of L. lusci and its infection intensity on the fatty acid (FA) composition and oil quality of its host. The results revealed a substantial decrease in the total FA content, which dropped by 50, 70 and 83% when fish was infected by one (L1), two (L2) and three (L3) parasites, respectively. The lipid profile showed a tendency for a significant decrease in the saturated fatty acid (SFA), monounsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) and polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) levels in all parasitized groups and in a parasite load dependant manner (p < 0.05). The same tendency was observed for the most commonly analysed FA and in particular for essential FA, such as e arachidonic (ARA), eicosapentaenoic (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA) acids, which showed smaller amounts associated with L. lusci co-infection. From a nutritional standpoint, our findings revealed that L. lusci is able to cause severe deterioration in the nutritional quality of its host oil. In addition to the increase in the thrombogenicity index (IT) and the high atherogenicity index (IA) values, the low hypocholesterolemic / hypercholesterolemic fatty acid ratio (H/H) and the modest amount of DHA+EPA (20 and 10 mg/100g) recorded at heavy infection levels make the parasitized fish inadequate sources of these PUFA and unsuitable for consumers with special dietary needs.
Towards Extending CityGML for Property Valuation: Property Valuation ADE
This paper introduces Property Valuation Application Domain Extension (ADE) within CityGML 3.0, aiming to integrate relevant indoor and outdoor 3D variables (cost estimation, view quality, etc.) for accurate property valuation. Current models lack the necessary features for this specific application. Leveraging IFC data for indoor elements, this ADE extends CityGML, addressing the existing gap. This paper identifies and categorizes data requirements, leading to the conceptualization and development of the model. By enriching CityGML 3.0 with IFC data, the approach introduces new features like the "Property Unit" to ensure adaptability across diverse valuation scenarios. Despite encountering data integrability challenges, we here commit to refining the model and overcoming these obstacles. A preliminary implementation using CityJSON demonstrates successful integration and paves the way for future implementation. These include developing an API platform and establishing an official repository to facilitate practical usability and scalability. This research significantly contributes to advancing property valuation processes by providing accurate valuations for stakeholders and promoting the use of 3D urban data in domain-specific extensions
