Analises the notion “loneliness” as socio-cultural phenomena
This article describes different approaches to the understanding of loneliness in social sciences and humanities. The main aim is to explore the difference of understanding, for describing the main common features of loneliness. The three observes approaches are: philosophical, psychological, sociological. Conclude: loneliness is a widespread modern phenomen, which have no cultural, religious and geographical boundarys. For modern people loneliness is an urgent need. It allows to reach maturity.

The lichen genera Thelidium and Verrucaria in the Leningrad Region (Russia)
Lichens from the genera Thelidium and Verrucaria in the Leningrad Region (including Saint-Petersburg) are revised. Altogether five species of Thelidium and 31 of Verrucaria are confirmed for this region. Four species (Thelidium minimum, T. olivaceum, Verrucaria maculiformis and V. trabalis) are new to the Leningrad Region, and 17 species (Thelidium aphanes, T. fontigenum, Verrucaria christiansenii, V. elevata, V. epilithea, V. helsingiensis, V. illinoisensis, V. inaspecta, V. invenusta, V. ligni- cola, V. pilosoides, V. polystictoides, V. pseudovirescens, V. rejecta, V. tectorum, V. tornensis and V. transfugiens) are new to Russia. Dubious records for the Leningrad Region include Verrucaria acrotella, V. floerkeana, V. fusca, V. nigrescens, V. obnigrescens, V. umbrinula and V. viridula.
Understanding oscillons: standing waves in a ball
Oscillons are localised long-lived pulsating states in the three-dimensional
theory. We gain insight into the spatio-temporal structure and
bifurcation of the oscillons by studying time-periodic solutions in a ball of a
finite radius. A sequence of weakly localised {\it Bessel waves} -- nonlinear
standing waves with the Bessel-like -dependence -- is shown to extend from
eigenfunctions of the linearised operator. The lowest-frequency Bessel wave
serves as a starting point of a branch of periodic solutions with exponentially
localised cores and small-amplitude tails decaying slowly towards the surface
of the ball. A numerical continuation of this branch gives rise to the
energy-frequency diagram featuring a series of resonant spikes. We show that
the standing waves associated with the resonances are born in the
period-multiplication bifurcations of the Bessel waves with higher frequencies.
The energy-frequency diagram for a sufficiently large ball displays sizeable
intervals of stability against spherically-symmetric perturbations.Comment: 13 pages, 12 figure
Structured observation as a method of religious landscape studies
The article presents the results of a study devoted to the Orthodox landscape in Yekaterinburg. A professional reader might be interested in the authors’ innovative methodology to study religious interaction in its contextual and cultural uniqueness. The key element of the methodology is a combination of the ‘thick description’ strategy proposed by Norman K. Denzin and a structured observation in the author’s operationalization. Initially, the proposed consideration of the results of the Yekaterinburg interactive landscape’s ‘thick description’ was intended to be a pilot study of a big research project. However during the implementation phase the authors revealed that the method of ‘thick description’ had never been used as a preliminary stage of survey or exert interview. The provocative character of the paper is that the authors explain in detail the methodology of design and operationalization of the structured items of the observation with regard to a specific object. Structured observation introduced by the authors as a scientific method helps to conduct a similar study in any other city or country. The obtained sociological ‘router’ of Yekaterinburg’s Orhodox landscape is an invitation to a scientific journey towards the design of representative samples for narrow-focused projects. © 2018 Russian Public Opinion Research Center VCIOM. Terahertz Bloch oscillator with a modulated bias
Electrons performing Bloch oscillations in an energy band of a dc-biased
superlattice in the presence of weak dissipation can potentially generate THz
fields at room temperature. The realization of such Bloch oscillator is a
long-standing problem due to the instability of a homogeneous electric field in
conditions of negative differential conductivity. We establish the theoretical
feasibility of stable THz gain in a long superlattice device in which the bias
is quasistatically modulated by microwave fields. The modulation waveforms must
have at least two harmonics in their spectra.Comment: 5 page
Additions to the lichen biota of Berezovye Islands, Leningrad Region, Russia
66 species of lichens, 9 lichenicolous fungi and 4 non-lichenized saprobic fungi are reported as new to the Berezovye Islands (Leningrad Region, Russia). The updated lichen biota of the archipelago comprises 356 species. Caloplaca maritima, Lecanora compallens, Verrucaria boblensis and Xanthoriicola physciae are reported for the first time for Russia, Lecanora aitema – for European Russia, Lecanora semipallida and Lichenodiplis lecanorae – for North-Western European Russia. Absconditella sphagnorum, Chaenothecopsis vainioana, Lempholemma polyanthes and Opegrapha niveoatra are new to the Leningrad Region, Arthonia byssacea and Lecanora subrugosa – to the Western Leningrad Region.
Two and three-dimensional oscillons in nonlinear Faraday resonance
We study 2D and 3D localised oscillating patterns in a simple model system
exhibiting nonlinear Faraday resonance. The corresponding amplitude equation is
shown to have exact soliton solutions which are found to be always unstable in
3D. On the contrary, the 2D solitons are shown to be stable in a certain
parameter range; hence the damping and parametric driving are capable of
suppressing the nonlinear blowup and dispersive decay of solitons in two
dimensions. The negative feedback loop occurs via the enslaving of the
soliton's phase, coupled to the driver, to its amplitude and width.Comment: 4 pages; 1 figur
