Characteristics of CuCrTiAl alloy after plastic deformation

    Get PDF
The development of the automotive industry leads to the search for newer construction materials, but also those used in the production process. Although many types of joints are used in vehicles, resistance welds remain the dominant one. The commonly used alloy for welding caps (CuCrZr) is already well known and therefore newer alloys and technologies for their production are sought to increase service life, and thus reduce production costs. Precipitation hardening CuCrTiAl alloy was analysed in this article. After casting, CuCrTiAl alloy was subjected to cold and hot deformation and then tested for its usability. The obtained results confirmed the potential of this alloy to make electrodes for resistance welding

Influence of the speed of downward semi-continuous casting on the crystal size and mechanical properties of recycled copper

In this study, the influence of the speed of downward semi-continuous casting on the crystal size and mechanical properties of recycled copper after casting and cold deformation was investigated. It was shown that the increase in the casting speed from 0,09 m / min to 0,22 m / min resulted in refinement of the macrostructure and reduction of the crystal cross-sectional area from 3,221 mm2 to 1,2 mm2, which resulted in an increase in microhardness after casting by 8 %, while in the state after cold working, an increase in microhardness by 3 % and ultimate tensile strength by 2,5 %

Usprawnianie komunikacji słownej w wybranych wariantach choroby Alzheimera: typowym i językowym

The paper reviews the methods for improving verbal communication in selected variants of Alzheimer’s disease, both in the typical and language variant. It emphasises the need to optimise the management within the framework of patientcentred care, allowing to address individual needs. As far as indirect interventions are concerned, the article presents techniques aimed at improving communication with the affected person, and more broadly – aimed at preserving the quality of life in the course of the illness. Among direct interventions, those aimed at selected system abilities and supporting language function in the context of cognitive and social function are presented. It is shown how speech and language therapy can integrate other therapeutic paradigms, developed in psychology, such as patientcentred therapy and cognitive neuropsychological rehabilitation. The paper reviews the methods for improving verbal communication in selected variants of Alzheimer’s disease, both in the typical and language variant. Ferromagnetism and Electronic Structure of (Ga,Mn)As:Bi and (Ga,Mn)As Epitaxial Layers

The photoreflectance (PR) spectroscopy was applied to study the band-structure in GaAs:Bi, (Ga,Mn)As and (Ga,Mn)As:Bi layers with the 4% of Mn and 1 % of Bi content and, as a reference, undoped GaAs layer. All films were grown by low temperature (LT) MBE on semi-insulating (001) GaAs substrates. Photoreflec-tance studies were supported by Raman spectroscopy and high resolution X-ray diffractometry (XRD) measurements. Magnetic properties of the films were characterized with a superconducting quantum in-terference device (SQUID) magnetometer. Our findings were interpreted in terms of the model, which as-sumes that the mobile holes residing in the valence band of GaAs and the Fermi level position determined by the concentration of valence-band holes. Ten-year study of late electrotherapy complications. Single-centre analysis of indications and safety of transvenous leads extraction

    Get PDF
Background: An increase in the number of cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) implantations is associated with a higher frequency of electrotherapy complications.Aim: The aim of the study was to determine the risk factors for late electrotherapy complications and to evaluate the effectiveness of transvenous lead extraction (TLE) and survival after TLE.Methods: We analysed the clinical data of 225 patients with electrotherapy complications referred for TLE in a single centre in the years 2006 to 2015. Indications for TLE, risk factors for infectious complications, effectiveness of TLE, and survival after the procedure were assessed. Results: In the study group, non-infectious indications for TLE predominated (78.2%). Analysis of risk for infectious complications demonstrated the important role of chronic renal failure (hazard ratio [HR] 1.842, p = 0.034) and a greater number of CIED-related procedures (HR 4.768, p < 0.001). High effectiveness of TLE and significantly higher long-term mortality of patients with infectious complications compared with the remainder (50% vs. 20%, p < 0.05) were documented. Conclusions: The study demonstrated a high rate of patients with non-infectious complications referred for TLE and very high effectiveness of the procedure. The worse long-term survival of patients with infectious complications, as well as increased risk for such complications due to the greater number of prior procedures, should prompt the consideration of early referral for TLE in the case of lead dysfunctions

Branching patterns of the foetal popliteal artery

Background: The objective of the study is to evaluate the popliteal artery topography and the origin variability of its branches in human foetuses at the gestational age of from 4 to 9 months. The basis for the analysis are direct observations of classic anatomic dissections of the popliteal fossa. Possible dimorphic and bilateral differen- ces, as well as the gestational age variability at the foetal period, were considered. A typology of popliteal artery branches will be made on the basis of the studies.  Materials and methods: The research material of this study comprises 231 foetuses (including 116 males and 115 females). The foetuses were divided into five 28-day age classes. The vessels of the lower extremity were injected with LBSK 5545 latex through the femoral artery. The bilateral dissection of the po- pliteal artery along with its branches was performed. No visible malformations were found in the research material, and the foetuses came from spontaneous abortions and premature births.  Results and Conclusions: Ten per cent of the cases featured the variations of popliteal artery terminal branches. Three most commonly seen variations are the trifurcation, anterior tibial-peroneal trunk, and high terminal division of the po- pliteal artery. The most common course of the superior muscular branches is that there are two large branches which are distributed from the popliteal artery at the height of the knee joint cavity and they do not distribute cutaneous branches. Sural branches are also present as two large vessels without cutaneous branches. The genicular anastomosis branches that run on their own are a typical topographic system of these branches.
