This thesisis dealing with care centered reading of Martin Heidegger's philosophy, the leading philosopher in the 20th century philosophy. This study asserts that the care is a main problem of Heidegger for understanding of the Being and becoming. The thesis is interested in trying to find some answers to these questions: Why is the concept of angst very important in the philosophy of Heidegger' How does Heidegger start a discussion to copy with it and how does his inquiry open new ways of looking at things' Heidegger is philosophizing in a phenomenological way which is is very different kind of doing philosophy compared to the traditional philosophising way. According to Heidegger, since man exists, like the other Daseins, he is thrown to the World in which they live. Now, in this study, the main concepts of the Heidegger will be looked into and then the concept of the angst or care is to be elaborated, because for Dasein, the angst or care is a central mood. According to the Heidegger all of our sensations and hermeneutic interpretations includes our cares and sorges and the World is not in that shape which the natural sciences's depicted. In this point Heidegger centralizes the concept of the angst in his philosophy since it is the very first of the existentials for the Dasein. For Heidegger, care as an existential comprises the all charecteristics of the modes and interrelates them. Besides, in order to live authentic or inauthentic the concept of angst plays crucial role in Heidegger. All in all, this thesis will be discussing the influences of main Heideggerian concepts on the contemporary continental philosophy. It is obviously clear that Heidegger's philosophy has influenced the main tradition of European philosophy and his terminology has still been used by a number of philosophers

Basic Theory and Methods of Afforestation

    Get PDF
Afforestation is an important practice in silviculture. This chapter outlines the forest site, site preparation, selection of afforestation materials in the process of afforestation. The life cycle of forests is very long, and it is difficult to change them once afforested. Therefore, the forest site must be analyzed in depth before afforestation to maintain the success of afforestation and the healthy growth of forests later. Forest sites are mainly affected by environmental and human activities. To facilitate afforestation, it is necessary to evaluate and classify the forest site factors and achieve a suitable species planted on the right site. Site preparation is also based on site classification. It is usually carried out after determining the type of afforestation land, divided into mechanical land preparation and chemical methods. An essential task of site preparation is to maintain soil moisture and promote seedlings’ survival and growth. Afforestation materials are mainly divided into three categories: seed, seedling, and cutting. The choice of these three types of afforestation materials and methods is related to site conditions, tree species, and age

Integration interaction of regional economic associations actors: «soft» & «hard» mechanisms

    Get PDF
In recent years, attempts to extend protectionism policies to a wide area of international relations between developed and developing countries, including the largest economies in the world, have become increasingly noticeable. Along with the “currency wars”, this forms a new reality, the peculiarity of which is to increase the level of uncertainty of economic development. To reduce uncertainty, new (modernized) mechanisms for the integration interaction of actors are needed, especially within the framework of regional economic associations. Research in this area is particularly relevant in the first quarter of the 21st century

Changes in Pediatric Trauma During the COVID-19 Pandemic; Does the Pandemic Have an Effect on the Severity of Traumas?

    Get PDF
Aim:Traumas are the most common cause of mortality and morbidity in children. Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) was shown to affect pediatric mental health, child neglect, and the occurrence of traumatic injuries. This study aimed to characterize pediatric trauma cases presenting to our institution before and after the pandemic began.Materials and Methods:Patients with trauma who were admitted to our emergency department between March, 2019 and March, 2021 were included. The patients were classified into two groups as before and after the pandemic began (March, 2020). Trauma characteristics, the severity of the injury, and prognosis were assessed. The patients’ injury severity scores (ISS) and pediatric trauma scores (PTS) were noted. Results:A total of 1,718 patients were included in this study. The number of pediatric trauma admissions dropped from 1,039 to 679 after the pandemic started. There was no difference between these groups in terms of age (p=0.874) or gender (p=0.106). There was a significant decrease in the number of traumatic injuries (p<0.001) especially during the first shutdown period (April, May, and June, 2020. Additionally, there was a significant increase in terms of foreign body aspiration (p=0.001) and pedestrian injuries (p=0.016). Although a significant increase was noted in the ISS of the patients (p<0.001), no differences were found between the PTSs (p=0.075) or multi-organ injuries (p=1.000). Also, no significant differences were observed regarding mortality (p=0.650), household accidents (p=0.600), trauma type (p=0.533), the need for transfusion (p=0.166), surgery (p=0.077) or mechanical ventilation (p=0.464) between the two groups. Conclusion:The COVID-19 pandemic altered social patterns, leading to a decrease in pediatric traumas. This decrease was most prominent during the shutdown period. The variables showing severe trauma, such as the need for surgery, did not change despite a significant increase in ISS. This was attributed to a decrease in admissions for minor trauma

Recovering the Pulse Profiles and Polarization Position Angles of Some Pulsars from Interstellar Scattering

Interstellar scattering causes broadening and distortion to the mean pulse profiles and polarization position angle (PPA) curves, especially to the pulse profiles observed at lower frequency. This paper has implemented a method to recover the pulse profiles and the PPA curves of five pulsars which have obvious scattered pulse profiles at lower frequency. It reports a simulation to show the scattering and descattering of pulse profiles and PPA curves. As a practical application, lower-frequency profiles and PPA curves of PSR 1356-60, PSR 1831-03, PSR 1838+04, PSR 1859+03, PSR 1946+35 are obtained. It is found that the original pulse profiles and PPA curves can be recovered.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, accepted for publication in RA

New approaches to the treatment of human herpesvirus 8-associated disease.

    Get PDF
Human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8, also known as Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus or KSHV) is the etiologic agent of Kaposi sarcoma (KS) and primary effusion lymphoma (PEL), as well as many cases of Castleman disease. Despite significant advances in understanding the biology and natural history of these diseases, current treatment options have important limitations, and strategies to prevent their development in high-risk individuals are lacking. This article reviews the scope of HHV-8-associated disease, as well as the efficacy of current treatment options. Finally, novel approaches to treatment and prevention are described, including antiviral agents, targeted molecular therapy and a combination of these modalities

Can a Nudge Perform a Miracle? A quasi-experimental field study on employees’ stated and revealed preferences towards plastic recycling at Haukeland university hospital

Master's thesis in Economic AnalysisPlastic pollution has become a major global problem and recycling is one step to take to solve the issue. A lot of research on nudge theory have focused on consumers, but very few have investigated the effect of nudges on employees’ environmental behaviour. Organizations produce substantial amount of plastic wastes where the success of correct recycling depends mainly on employees. The aim of this thesis is therefore to motivate and encourage employees’ plastic recycling behaviour by introducing simple nudges and investigate their stated and revealed preferences while taking the value-action gap into consideration. Theory of planned behaviour and nudge theory were used as conceptual lenses to guide this research. A quasi-experimental field study with one control group and two experimental groups including a pre-post-test was conducted. Based on a review of the literature on nudge theory and theories on human behaviour, interventions were designed, an online survey was distributed, and waste audits were conducted. Nudge interventions were: 1) provision of information on the meaning and purpose behind recycling through a document sent by email, 2) recognition; a poster with a positive message, 3) Instructions; informative posters on how to dispose plastic waste and 4) a reminder to recycle. Results show that one experimental group improved recycling by 42%, the other experimental group decreased by 2 % and the control group experienced a 26% improvement. A combination of meaning and purpose to recycle and simple recognition nudge seemed to have the strongest effect. The intention to recycle had a significant positive effect on stated behaviour, moreover intention and behaviour were similar across groups. There was a slight contradiction in stated and revealed preferences for one experimental group however consistency in preferences for the other experimental group. In conclusion, emphasizing meaning and purpose and recognizing recycling effort may improve environmentally friendly behaviour. Based on the results, it is recommended that environmental organizations use simple and cheap nudges to target their goal of more correct recycling and in turn gain financial and environmental benefits
