Coupled-Channels Approach for Dissipative Quantum Dynamics in Near-Barrier Collisions
A novel quantum dynamical model based on the dissipative quantum dynamics of
open quantum systems is presented. It allows the treatment of both
deep-inelastic processes and quantum tunneling (fusion) within a fully quantum
mechanical coupled-channels approach. Model calculations show the transition
from pure state (coherent) to mixed state (decoherent and dissipative) dynamics
during a near-barrier nuclear collision. Energy dissipation, due to
irreversible decay of giant-dipole excitations of the interacting nuclei,

RsmV, a small noncoding regulatory RNA in Pseudomonas aeruginosa that sequesters RsmA and RsmF from target mRNAs
The Gram-negative opportunistic pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa has distinct genetic programs that favor either acute or chronic virulence gene expression. Acute virulence is associated with twitching and swimming motility, expression of a type III secretion system (T3SS), and the absence of alginate, Psl, or Pel polysaccharide production. Traits associated with chronic infection include growth as a biofilm, reduced motility, and expression of a type VI secretion system (T6SS). The Rsm posttranscriptional regulatory system plays important roles in the inverse control of phenotypes associated with acute and chronic virulence. RsmA and RsmF are RNA-binding proteins that interact with target mRNAs to control gene expression at the posttranscriptional level. Previous work found that RsmA activity is controlled by at least three small, noncoding regulatory RNAs (RsmW, RsmY, and RsmZ). In this study, we took an in silico approach to identify additional small RNAs (sRNAs) that might function in the sequestration of RsmA and/or RsmF (RsmA/RsmF) and identified RsmV, a 192-nucleotide (nt) transcript with four predicted RsmA/RsmF consensus binding sites. RsmV is capable of sequestering RsmA and RsmF in vivo to activate translation of tssA1, a component of the T6SS, and to inhibit T3SS gene expression. Each of the predicted RsmA/RsmF consensus binding sites contributes to RsmV activity. Electrophoretic mobility shifts assays show that RsmF binds RsmV with > 10-fold higher affinity than RsmY and RsmZ. Gene expression studies revealed that the temporal expression pattern of RsmV differs from those of RsmW, RsmY, and RsmZ. These findings suggest that each sRNA may play a distinct role in controlling RsmA and RsmF activity
Interruption of the Arterial Inferior Alveolar Flow and its Effects on Mandibular Collateral Circulation and Dental Tissues
The interruption of circulation through the inferior alveolar artery was followed by the establishment of a fast retrograde blood flow through the vessel. The mental artery and the mandibular branch of the sublingual artery were the main vessels to contribute to that flow. The VLT-FLAMES survey of massive stars: observations in the Galactic clusters NGC3293, NGC4755 and NGC6611
We introduce a new survey of massive stars in the Galaxy and the Magellanic
Clouds using the Fibre Large Array Multi-Element Spectrograph (FLAMES)
instrument at the Very Large Telescope (VLT). Here we present observations of
269 Galactic stars with the FLAMES-Giraffe Spectrograph (R ~ 25,000), in fields
centered on the open clusters NGC 3293, NGC 4755 and NGC 6611. These data are
supplemented by a further 50 targets observed with the Fibre-Fed Extended Range
Optical Spectrograph (FEROS, R = 48,000). Following a description of our
scientific motivations and target selection criteria, the data reduction
methods are described; of critical importance the FLAMES reduction pipeline is
found to yield spectra that are in excellent agreement with less automated
methods. Spectral classifications and radial velocity measurements are
presented for each star, with particular attention paid to morphological
peculiarities and evidence of binarity. These observations represent a
significant increase in the known spectral content of NGC 3293 and NGC 4755,
and will serve as standards against which our subsequent FLAMES observations in

ÂżPuede el principio de lateralidades mĂşltiples mejorar el porcentaje de acierto en el tiro a canasta?
El propĂłsito del presente estudio es determinar si una mecánica de tiro alternativa basada en la lateralidad Ăłculo-manual del sujeto podrĂa incrementar significativamente el porcentaje de acierto en el tiro a canasta en jugadores homogĂ©neos – aquellos cuya lateralidad ocular y manual están en el mismo hemicuerpo lateral –. Para esto, 34 jugadores de baloncesto (24chicos y 10 chicas) en categorĂa infantil, inscritos todos ellos en categorĂa Preferente masculino y femenino Federado, realizaron un total de 4600 lanzamientos a canasta desde cinco posiciones diferentes de corta y media distancia - 2300 con cada una de las dos mecánicas propuestas (mecánica tradicional y tiro con rotaciĂłn de 45Âş) -. Tras el análisis de datos se hallaron porcentajes de acierto significativamente mayores desde el tiro libre (t(23) =2,917; p = 0,008), los lanzamientos desde el lado izquierdo de la zona (t(23) = 3,621; p = 0,001) y el global de los lanzamientos a canasta (t(23) = 3,980; p = 0,001) con la mecánica de tiro teĂłricamente idĂłnea. Los resultados obtenidos sustentan que una mecánica de tiro alternativa basada en la lateralidad óculo manual del jugador podrĂa ayudar a los jugadores de baloncesto homogĂ©neos a obtener porcentajes de acierto significativamente superiores
A tomographic study of the classical nova RR Pic
We present the results of spectrophotometric observations of the old nova RR
Pic performed in two spectral ranges, one centered in the Ha line and other
covering Hb and Hg spectral lines. From the Hb radial velocity study we found a
primary radial semi-amplitude of K1 = 37(1) km/s and a systemic velocity of g =
1.8(2) km/s. With this new values a mass diagram is constructed, constraining
the possible mass intervals for the system. The possible orbital inclination
range was restricted using the fact that RR Pic presents shallow eclipses. A
secondary mass range below the limit of a main sequence star filling its Roche
lobe indicate an evolved companion. We also calculated the Ha, Hb, Hg, HeI 6678
and HeII 4686 Doppler tomograms. The most conspicuous differences are found
between the HeI and HeII tomograms, the former has a ring shape, while the
second is filled at low velocities, suggesting that the low velocity emission
is not coming from the accretion disk. Radial emissivity profiles for these

Survey of nucleon electromagnetic form factors
A dressed-quark core contribution to nucleon electromagnetic form factors is
calculated. It is defined by the solution of a Poincare' covariant Faddeev
equation in which dressed-quarks provide the elementary degree of freedom and
correlations between them are expressed via diquarks. The nucleon-photon vertex
involves a single parameter; i.e., a diquark charge radius. It is argued to be
commensurate with the pion's charge radius. A comprehensive analysis and
explanation of the form factors is built upon this foundation. A particular
feature of the study is a separation of form factor contributions into those
from different diagram types and correlation sectors, and subsequently a
flavour separation for each of these. Amongst the extensive body of results
that one could highlight are: r_1^{n,u}>r_1^{n,d}, owing to the presence of
axial-vector quark-quark correlations; and for both the neutron and proton the
ratio of Sachs electric and magnetic form factors possesses a zero.Comment: 43 pages, 17 figures, 12 tables, 5 appendice
Applicability of the Leiden Convention and the Lipton classification in patients with a single coronary artery in the setting of congenital heart disease
Background In single coronary artery (SCA) anatomy, all coronary tributaries arise from a single ostium, providing perfusion to the entire myocardium. Coronary classification systems can facilitate the description of SCA anatomy. Aim: Evaluation of the applicability of Lipton classification and the Leiden Convention coronary coding system in SCA. Methods: All patients (n = 6209) who underwent computed tomography (CT) scanning between 2014 and 2018 were retrospectively examined for the presence of SCA and classified, according to Lipton classification and the Leiden Convention coronary coding system. Results: The prevalence of SCA was 0.51% (32/6209). Twenty-eight patients (87.5%) had coexisting congenital heart disease (CHD), most frequently pulmonary atresia (9/32, 28.1%). Ten patients (10/32, 31.25%) could not be classified with either the Leiden Convention or Lipton classification (pulmonary atresia n = 9, common arterial trunk (CAT) n = 1). In one case with CAT, Lipton classification, but not the Leiden Convention, could be applied. In two cases with the transposition of the great arteries and in two cases of double outlet right ventricle, the Leiden Convention, but not the Lipton classification, could be applied. Conclusions: Both classifications are useful to detail information about SCA. As Lipton classification was not developed for structural heart disease cases, in complex CHD with abnormal position of the great arteries, the Leiden Convention is better applicable. The use of both systems is limited in pulmonary atresia. In this scenario, it is better to provide a precise description of the coronary origin and associated characteristics that might affect treatment and prognosis.Cardiolog
Tight-binding parameters for charge transfer along DNA
We systematically examine all the tight-binding parameters pertinent to
charge transfer along DNA. The molecular structure of the four DNA bases
(adenine, thymine, cytosine, and guanine) is investigated by using the linear
combination of atomic orbitals method with a recently introduced
parametrization. The HOMO and LUMO wavefunctions and energies of DNA bases are
discussed and then used for calculating the corresponding wavefunctions of the
two B-DNA base-pairs (adenine-thymine and guanine-cytosine). The obtained HOMO
and LUMO energies of the bases are in good agreement with available
experimental values. Our results are then used for estimating the complete set
of charge transfer parameters between neighboring bases and also between
successive base-pairs, considering all possible combinations between them, for
both electrons and holes. The calculated microscopic quantities can be used in
mesoscopic theoretical models of electron or hole transfer along the DNA double
helix, as they provide the necessary parameters for a tight-binding
phenomenological description based on the molecular overlap. We find that
usually the hopping parameters for holes are higher in magnitude compared to
the ones for electrons, which probably indicates that hole transport along DNA
is more favorable than electron transport. Our findings are also compared with
