Repurposing the Built Environment: Emerging Challenges and Key Entry Points for Future Research

The built environment faces challenges in all three dimensions of sustainable development—economic, social, and environmental. The increasing loss of functionality is a cross-sectional issue affecting buildings and settlements and their layering of social, spatial, and cultural processes. Based on a critical review, this paper aims to bridge the gap between international charters and ongoing research for built environments losing their original uses. Three emerging challenges to sustainability in repurposing are outlined from the debate, checking their incidence on research: (a) values preservation, (b) resources optimization, (c) systems effectiveness promotion. Experiences of conversion and regeneration in Japan, the Netherlands, Australia, Hong Kong City, and the USA are taken into account with the aim of comparing approaches, methods, and results. The discussion highlights three key entry points for future research on built environments: (1) communities involvement: new alliances between stakeholders, (2) the potential of technologies: combining resources’ protection and affordability, and (3) renewed productivity to preserve values and uses

ANALISIS RASIO KEUANGAN DAERAH DALAM MENILAI KINERJA ANGGARAN PENDAPATAN DAN BELANJA DAERAH KABUPATEN BARITO SELATAN

This research aims to know and analyze the performance of the regional expenditure budget of South Barito Regency in 2014- 2018 which is measured using the regional financial ratios, then the result is re-used To know and analyze the factors that led to the rise in the financial ratios of South Barito Regency. This research is a qualitative study of research conducted by collecting and presenting data received from the Government of South Barito Regency in particular in the form of the amount of data on the budget of regional revenue and expenditure The Government of South Barito Regency gave a clear enough to the authors to analyze and compare with the theory. The results of the study showed the performance of the local government of Barito South District using the financial ratios of the region decreased, so there still needs to be an increase in the excitement because the orientation of the budget reflected in the fifth review ratio is still not focused on the public interest as it should be.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis Kinerja Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Daerah (APBD) Kabupaten Barito Selatan tahun 2014-2018 yang diukur dengan menggunakan rasio keuangan daerah, kemudian hasilnya tersebut digunakan kembali untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan naik turunnya rasio keuangan daerah Kabupaten Barito Selatan.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yakni penelitian yang dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan dan menyajikan data yang diterima dari Pemerintah Kabupaten Barito Selatan khususnya berupa data-data jumlah Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Daerah Pemerintah Kabupaten Barito Selatan sehingga memberikan gambaran yang cukup jelas untuk penulis menganalisis serta membandingkan dengan teori yang ada. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kinerja Pemerintah Daerah Kabupaten Barito Selatan dengan menggunakan rasio keuangan daerah mengalami penurunan, sehingga masih perlu peningkatan yang ekstra karena orientasi anggaran yang tercermin dari tinjauan kelima rasio masih belum terfokus pada kepentingan publik sebagaimana seharusnya

Fattori di influenza per il dimensionamento di sistemi solari termici: analisi comparata delle procedure di determinazione della frazione solare e definizione di una scala di rendimenti

Questa tesi di laurea nasce in un contesto di grande sensibilizzazione verso i temi riguardanti l’ambiente, il risparmio energetico e l’utilizzo di fonti rinnovabili. Stante questo “humus” culturale, si ingenera naturalmente un’attenzione particolare verso tutti quei fattori in grado di influenzare la concezione progettuale di queste fonti energetiche. Obiettivo della presente tesi di laurea è indagare su quanta parte abbia nella determinazione della resa dei sistemi solari la procedura di calcolo adottata e su quanto le raccomandazioni sull’inclinazione delle superfici di captazione solare siano da essa influenzati. Le diverse procedure di calcolo, il cui numero è evidentemente molto elevato, sono state applicate ad un caso pratico di un edificio adibito ad uso uffici di cui si sono analizzati nel dettaglio tutti i dati sensibili, dal punto di vista energetico, dei vari componenti. Ad una prima applicazione limitata alla produzione di ACS (acqua calda sanitaria) segue una seconda per la produzione combinata di ACS e integrazione del riscaldamento. Gli obiettivi di preminente interesse, che ci si è posti a principio dell’indagine, sono due. Il primo è quello di definire qualitativamente e quantitativamente, ove possibile, quale ruolo rivesta la scelta del modello di calcolo nella determinazione della percentuale di copertura del fabbisogno, (frazione solare f), che può essere garantita da un’installazione di pannelli solari, stante la presenza in letteratura di diverse procedure di determinazione della radiazione solare incidente su una superficie. Il secondo obiettivo è quello di stabilire una scala di rendimenti delle diverse tipologie di collettori prese in considerazione e parimenti di individuare, se vi siano e in che misura, difetti procedurali nella determinazione medesima

The right to the city to contrast the decay of urban spaces : the architectural upgrade of Corso Garibaldi railway station, in Naples

Deep changes in urban frameworks, challenge contemporary cities, where often, common spaces formerly central, risk an indissoluble physical degradation, due to processes of social marginalization. Architects are asked to face the developmental dynamics for spaces of anonymity, every day more numerous, working on previous attitudes as aggregation and relation junctions. Moving from the description of the design criteria that inform the rehabilitation for the ancient area of Corso Garibaldi in Naples, the paper introduces a critical thinking about the links between space’ performances and attitudes towards inclusivity. Urban and architectural solutions are privileged means in order to return to citizenship the right to public space, reaffirming the concept of common space as dwelling, residence of the community, with the creation of new social ties and the growth of local shared identities.Peer Reviewe
