In Fragment 19 of the Harvard Manuscripts, Saussure claims that difference, since it admits degrees, is an uncomfortable term. If anatomy as destiny (Freud, 1912, 1924) is more nuanced than one would like, since it also admits degrees, and anatomical difference does not mitigate the ultimate impossibility of conjugation between speaking beings (Lacan, 1991), how to think of the transit/translation between bodies and where to situate the differences that belong to them? In order to propose an answer, this paper starts from this hypothesis that it is advisable to develop this reflection about sexual difference a couple of feet above the waistline, foregrounding another organ (the tongue), what allows us to critically rethink the entanglement between gender and anatomy in psychoanalysis, in favor of the notion of style

VCube-PS: A Causal Broadcast Topic-based Publish/Subscribe System

In this work we present VCube-PS, a topic-based Publish/Subscribe system built on the top of a virtual hypercube-like topology. Membership information and published messages are broadcast to subscribers (members) of a topic group over dynamically built spanning trees rooted at the publisher. For a given topic, the delivery of published messages respects the causal order. VCube-PS was implemented on the PeerSim simulator, and experiments are reported including a comparison with the traditional Publish/Subscribe approach that employs a single rooted static spanning-tree for message distribution. Results confirm the efficiency of VCube-PS in terms of scalability, latency, number and size of messages.Comment: Improved text and performance evaluation. Milner (2008/Fapesp), que visa dar seguimento a uma tradução crítica — para estudo da obra do referido autor —, sobre a qual serão levantadas questões a respeito dos apontamentos aí feitos com relação à Lingüística enquanto ciência, e da existência de um “litoral” que é encontrado se nos dirigirmos a um determinado campo do saber: uma certa psicanálise dita lacaniana

Passar pela Sibéria: um relato que vem ao caso

Textos se acumulam nas estantes: textos, textos sobre textos. Afnal, muita tinta já foi vertida em torno de algumas obras, em especial: obras que parecem sempre provocar leitura, mas que também suscitam que sobre elas se escreva notas, se as reescreva, se as reinvente noutras obras, reinventando a si próprio a partir delas. Parece ser esse o caso de Crime e Castigo, do célebre Fiódor Dostoiévski. Com alguns elementos triviais -- um sujeito, um crime, investigações, a confissão e uma pena -- o autor é capaz de não escrever um romance policial: ele escreve mais, algo a mais.
