Evaluation "Angels and Demons" (WP-116)
One way to generate the money needed for sustainable innovation is by consumer choosing freely for sustainable products. This way, consumer choice pays for the innovative production method. This requires consumer willingness to buy these products. Willingness to buy is however not so easily measured as the intentions to buy may only partially predict actual purchase behaviour. There is a gap between what consumer say they want, and what they do in practice. For the specific case of sustainable production, consumers often say they are very positive about sustainable products (angelic opinion), yet in their daily behaviour they frequently tend to choose convenient and cheap products (demonic behaviour)

A Longitudinal Test of the Demand–Control Model Using Specific Job Demands and Specific Job Control
# The Author(s) 2010. This article is published with open access at Springerlink.com Background Supportive studies of the demand–control (DC) model were more likely to measure specific demands combined with a corresponding aspect of control. Purpose A longitudinal test of Karasek’s (Adm Sci Q. 24:285–308, 1) job strain hypothesis including specific measures of job demands and job control, and both selfreport and objectively recorded well-being. Method Job strain hypothesis was tested among 267 health care employees from a two-wave Dutch panel survey with a 2-year time lag. Results Significant demand/control interactions were found for mental and emotional demands, but not for physical demands. The association between job demands and job satisfaction was positive in case of high job control, whereas this association was negative in case of low job control. In addition, the relation between job demands and J. de Jonge (*
Privacy Architectures: Reasoning About Data Minimisation and Integrity
Privacy by design will become a legal obligation in the European Community if
the Data Protection Regulation eventually gets adopted. However, taking into
account privacy requirements in the design of a system is a challenging task.
We propose an approach based on the specification of privacy architectures and
focus on a key aspect of privacy, data minimisation, and its tension with
integrity requirements. We illustrate our formal framework through a smart
metering case study.Comment: appears in STM - 10th International Workshop on Security and Trust

Observation of band structure and density of states effects in Co-based magnetic tunnel junctions
Utilizing Co/AlO/Co magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) with Co
electrodes of different crystalline phases, a clear relationship between
electrode structure and junction transport properties is presented. For
junctions with one fcc(111) textured and one polycrystalline (poly-phase and
poly-directional) Co electrode, a strong asymmetry is observed in the
magnetotransport properties, while when both electrodes are polycrystalline the
magnetotransport is essentially symmetric. These observations are successfully
explained within a model based on ballistic tunneling between the calculated
band structures (DOS) of fcc-Co and hcp-Co.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev. Let
Spin Reorientations Induced by Morphology Changes in Fe/Ag(001)
By means of magneto-optical Kerr effect we observe spin reorientations from
in-plane to out-of-plane and vice versa upon annealing thin Fe films on Ag(001)
at increasing temperatures. Scanning tunneling microscopy images of the
different Fe films are used to quantify the surface roughness. The observed
spin reorientations can be explained with the experimentally acquired roughness
parameters by taking into account the effect of roughness on both the magnetic
dipolar and the magnetocrystalline anisotropy.Comment: 4 pages with 3 EPS figure
Effecten van de Hoogeveenseweg op loopkevers
Wegen doorsnijden vaak allerlei gebieden, waaronder natuurgebieden.
Hierarchy of Dirac, Pauli and Klein-Gordon conserved operators in Taub-NUT background
The algebra of conserved observables of the SO(4,1) gauge-invariant theory of
the Dirac fermions in the external field of the Kaluza-Klein monopole is
investigated. It is shown that the Dirac conserved operators have physical
parts associated with Pauli operators that are also conserved in the sense of
the Klein-Gordon theory. In this way one gets simpler methods of analyzing the
properties of the conserved Dirac operators and their main algebraic structures
including the representations of dynamical algebras governing the Dirac quantum
modes.Comment: 16 pages, latex, no figure
The motivational interviewing skill code:Reliability and a critical appraisal
The Motivational Interviewing Skill Code (MISC) is a coding system developed to measure adherence to motivational interviewing (MI). MI is an effective clinical style used in different treatment situations. Counsellors practising MI have to follow general principles and avoid certain traps. In the present study, the content of the MISC is compared with the general principles of MI and the traps to avoid in MI. Investigation of the content validity raises some questions. All general principles are represented but the traps to avoid in MI are not fully covered. The consequences of this under-representation are shown in transcripts of a selection of well-conducted MI training sessions. The reliability of the MISC was investigated by having five independent coders code 39 MI training sessions of different counsellors. The reliability of the MISC is reasonable. The five coders agreed to a large extent on the absolute ratings but the intraclass correlations were low. Although the MISC can be a useful research tool for process research of MI, it remains a labour-intensive instrument and for teaching and practice audit development of a more simple coding system is recommended
