Time-reversal odd distribution functions in chiral models with vector mesons
The so-called time-reversal odd distribution functions are known to be
non-vanishing in QCD due to the presence of the link operator in the definition
of these quantities. I show that T-odd distributions can be non-vanishing also
in chiral models, if vector mesons are introduced as dynamical gauge bosons of
a hidden local symmetry. Moreover, since the flavor dependence of these
distributions is different in chiral models respect to non chiral ones, the
phenomenological analysis of experimental data will be able to distinguish
between these two classes of models.Comment: 4 page
Knowledge and Belief according to Lanza del Vasto
In past millennia religious traditions suggested a kind of
wisdom from which science divorced since its beginning,
belief being then considered as a backwards attitude with
respect to the triumphant scientific reason. Apparently, no
sacred text suggested an adequate analysis on both the
admirable intellectual construction built by scientific reason
and modern way of life, essentially advantaging progress
with respect to all traditions.
Since one century a new attitude on scientific knowledge
was proposed by a particular renewal of religious belief,
the non-violent philosophy of life suggested by Tolstoy
(Tolstoy 1880), Gandhi (Gandhi 1908) and Lanza del
Vasto (Lanza del Vasto 1959). All they criticized Western
science inasmuch as it is severed from both ethics and
common life of mankind. The criticism was qualified by
Lanza del Vasto (= LdV, 1901-1981, graduated in Philosophy
at Pisa University in 1928) through an analysis of two
Christian texts, i.e. Genesis 3 and Apocalypse 13, in the
same years Catholic Council Vatican 2 instead accepted
modern science as an ineluctable modernity (incarnationist
thesis vs. apocalyptic thesis)
Restructuring and Business Reengineering in Integrative Processes
Globalisation has intensified competition to such an extent that the corporations, merely with one’s own resources, cannot achieve acceptable success any longer. Objectives, which had been set-up prior to establishing the alliance in order to justify the investment, frequently will not be possible to achieve if during the integrative period revolutionary methods of change are not applied, to which one can classify restructuring and reengineering. Therefore, it is essential to be successful, not only in rules and principles of strategic alliances but in the methods of radical changes.strategic alliance, integration, restructuring, reengineering, crisis
Self-Esteem and Earnings
Recent research in economics suggests a positive association between self-esteem and earnings. A major problem in this literature is that from simple cross-sectional wage regressions it is not possible to conclude that self-esteem has a causal impact on earnings. While classical measurement error leads to an attenuation bias, reverse causality and omitted variable are likely to drive the OLS coefficient on self-esteem upward. Using the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth (NLSY) that administered the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale during the 1980 and 1987 interviews, I provide further evidence for the existence of a self-esteem premium by exploiting variation in these measures in the two years. I show that the estimated impact of self-esteem in 1987 on earnings is about two times greater than previous OLS estimates would imply. The main explanation for this result is the large extent of measurement error in the reported self-esteem measure.self-esteem, wages, NLSY
