How to compare energy efficiency inspection tests on TVs?

    Get PDF
It is a case study conducted in company X of the electronic branch located in the Industrial Pole of Manaus (PIM), the capital of Amazonas–Brazil. The problem was the need to develop a benchmarking involving energy efficiency inspection tests on televisions. The objective is to compare the performance of the standard method and the new method of performing the energy efficiency inspection test. To this end, quality tools were applied with data collected from the use of the time study of each test step. After data collection and analysis, it was concluded that the new test: a) has 67% of its steps performed automatically and 43% manually, its average lead time is 4h14min34, a gain of 33.5% in total time required to perform the test; b) can be developed with the application of Brainstorming, Ishikawa Diagram, GUT Matrix, PDCA, Vertical Flowchart in conjunction with Chrono-analysis. It is worth highlighting the importance of the local top management support so that each of these tools is used with autonomy and creativity by the collaborators involved in the project

THE PRE-EXHAUSTION METHOD SEEMS INEFFECTIVE TO INCREASE ELECTROMYOGRAPHIC ACTIVITY

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the pre-exhaustion method on the electromyographic activity (temporal and spectral domain) at different intervals of a set of resistance training. Twenty adults with little or no experience in strength training performed two sets of the seated row exercise at 70%1RM until muscular failure, in a randomized order. Surface electrodes were placed over the latissimus dorsi, teres major, biceps brachii, and posterior deltoid muscles of the dominant side. Results showed that the pre-exhaustion did not increase EMG activity of all muscle analyzed at any intervals of a set. Furthermore, the EMG median frequency decreased in teres major and posterior deltoid muscles during initial and intermediate repetitions. Results suggest that the pre-exhaustion induces more fatigue when compared to traditional training

Blood alcohol level and toxicologic test in drivers killed in road traffic accidents in the coal region of Santa Catarina State, Brazil

To investigate the epidemiological profile and the toxicological analysis among drivers fatally injured in road traffic accidents (RTAs). Methods: Retrospective observational study with 185 fatalities occurred in the coal region of Santa Catarina State during the period 2011-2017. Results: Mean age was 37,34 ± 15,08 years and male gender was the most frequent (92,4%). The most prevalent city was Criciúma (25,4%). The majority presented negative blood alcohol level (49,7%) and negative toxicologic test (61,6%). Among positive toxicologic tests (18,9%), the most frequent drugs were benzodiazepines and cocaine (both with 5,4%). Conclusion: It is important to emphasize the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or other substances. We also suggest the implementation of toxicologic tests in police blitz and the improvement in these exams to diminish undetermined results

Attachment of 2,2-bipyridine onto a silica gel for application as a sequestering agent for copper, cadmium and lead ions from an aqueous medium

Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)A method was developed to attach 2,2-bipyridine (BP) onto a silica gel surface by a two-step reaction. The first step consisted of a reaction between the matrix and a silylating agent, 3-chloropropyltrimeth-oxysilane. In the second step of the reaction, a ligand molecule was attached onto Si-CPTS, yielding the product Si-BP. The modified material contained 0.431 +/- 0.01 mmol of 2,2-bipyridine per gram of modified silica, as confirmed by FT-IR spectra of the proposed structure. The surface modification was characterized by the BET technique, which revealed a decrease in the surface area from 614 to 450 m(2) g(-1). The series of adsorption isotherms for the metal ions were adjusted to fit a modified Langmuir equation. The maximum number of moles of copper, cadmium and lead ions adsorbed was 0.64, 0.53, and 0.54 mmol g-1, respectively. The surface saturation was calculated as phi fraction and the values obtained, Cu(II) = 1.160, Cd(II) = 1.044 and Pb(II) = 0.997, suggest a type 1:1 metal-ligand complex.1342833Fundação para o Desenvolvimento da UNESP (FUNDUNESP)Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP)FUNDUNESP [Proc. 00182/06-DFP]FAPESP [Proc. 06/54946-9

Effects of Rio de Janeiro Ar Livre program on the autonomy of octogenarian elderly women

With the increase in life expectancy, it is important to acknowledge the impact of health promotion programs on the elderly. The aimed of this study was to evaluate the influence of the Rio de Janeiro Ar Livre physical program on the functional autonomy of octogenarian elderly women´s. To this end, elderly women´s from 19 Rio de Janeiro Ar Livre program gyms were selected for the experimental group (EG) (n=23; 82.57±3.78 years), and for the Control Group (CG) (n=17; 82.88±2.23 years) from the attending cohabitation houses of the City of Rio de Janeiro. To access the functional autonomy was used Rikli and Jones (1999) protocol in two times separated by (28 weeks). It was observed in the EG a significant (p=0.010) increase in Upper limbs' strength test (13.00±3.41 to 15.09±3.60 times, pre and post innervation, respectively) and a significant (p=0.002) increase in 2 minutes Step test in the CG (36.59±15.00 to 47.24±10.96 times, pre and post, respectively). However, any significant differences between groups were observed in all variables analysed. Based in the present data we can conclude that the training program was only effective in the promotions of the functional strength of the upper limbs and to maintain the functional autonomy of octogenarian elderly women
