    Towards optimization of quantum circuits

    Any unitary operation in quantum information processing can be implemented via a sequence of simpler steps - quantum gates. However, actual implementation of a quantum gate is always imperfect and takes a finite time. Therefore, seeking for a short sequence of gates - efficient quantum circuit for a given operation, is an important task. We contribute to this issue by proposing optimization of the well-known universal procedure proposed by Barenco et.al [1]. We also created a computer program which realizes both Barenco's decomposition and the proposed optimization. Furthermore, our optimization can be applied to any quantum circuit containing generalized Toffoli gates, including basic quantum gate circuits.Comment: 10 pages, 11 figures, minor changes+typo

    Recognizing Small-Circuit Structure in Two-Qubit Operators and Timing Hamiltonians to Compute Controlled-Not Gates

    This work proposes numerical tests which determine whether a two-qubit operator has an atypically simple quantum circuit. Specifically, we describe formulae, written in terms of matrix coefficients, characterizing operators implementable with exactly zero, one, or two controlled-not (CNOT) gates and all other gates being one-qubit. We give an algorithm for synthesizing two-qubit circuits with optimal number of CNOT gates, and illustrate it on operators appearing in quantum algorithms by Deutsch-Josza, Shor and Grover.     Formulation of Furosemide Oral Disintegrating Tablets Using Natural and Synthetic Superdisintegrants by SeDeM Expert Design System

    SeDeM design expert technique used to evaluate the risks of poor flow of pharmaceutical powders under preformulation studies which reveals direct compression suitability and prepare robust composition of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and excipient in tablets formulation. The purpose of this study was to develop oral disintegrating tablets of Furosemide using different concentration of natural and synthetic superdisintegrants by means of SeDeM design technique. Oral disintegrating tablets (ODT) of Furosemide were prepared by direct compression technique using isolated banana powder and croscarmellose sodium (Ac-di-sol) together with microcrystalline cellulose as superdisintegrants. SeDeM design was performed to check suitability and deficient of excipients and drug for optimized composition derived based on IPP value. These tablets were evaluated for hardness, friability, drug content, weight variation, wetting time and in-vitro dissolution. All the formulations showed low weight variation with dispersion time less than 173.5±0.70 seconds and rapid in-vitro dissolution. The drug content of all the formulations was within the acceptable limits. Lubricated blend composition of F4 found average radius value 5.24, 0.66 and 5.509 for IGC, IP and IPP respectively, compressed tablet shown good physical properties. The optimized formulation F4 showed good release profile with 99.25 percentage drug release compared to other trial batches. It was concluded that natural superdisintegrant (banana powder) showed better disintegrating property than synthetic super disintegrant (Ac-di-sol) in the formulations of ODTs.     Large N Duality, Lagrangian Cycles, and Algebraic Knots

    We consider knot invariants in the context of large N transitions of topological strings. In particular we consider aspects of Lagrangian cycles associated to knots in the conifold geometry. We show how these can be explicitly constructed in the case of algebraic knots. We use this explicit construction to explain a recent conjecture relating study of stable pairs on algebraic curves with HOMFLY polynomials. Furthermore, for torus knots, using the explicit construction of the Lagrangian cycle, we also give a direct A-model computation and recover the HOMFLY polynomial for this case.Engineering and Physical Sciences Research CouncilSimons Foundatio

    Sharir Rachana and Kriya is essential for the knowledge of Chikitsa, Shalya and Shalakya. Depending upon the availability and complete knowledge of Ashtang Ayurveda the trio of creations of Acharya Susruta, Charaka and Vagbhata is regarded as Brihatrayee. Later on the other trio of Madhava Nidan, Bhavaprakash, Sharangadhara Samhita reffered as Laghutrayee. The knowledge of Sharir and medicine available in Brihatrayee; So, Ayurvedic terminologies explaining the Sharir aspects in Samhitas are many times mentioned by comparing it with the objects commonly seen in day-to-day life. This concept of comparison may be classified on Rachnatmaka groups. This concept helps in knowing, understanding, learning and memorizing the important features in Rachana Sharir, as a whole. Acharyas has thus greatly contributed to the Vaidyas in studying the Sharir in the language of the layman. Sharir stands for bodily, anything related to body. It is defined by Brihatrayee Acharyas as per their ideologies. Sharirvichaya is a detailed knowledge of Sharir Anga Pratyanga which is useful for Sharir Svasthya as well as Chikitsa. This `homotopy cardinality' is an invariant of the category and allows for a weighted count of augmentations, which we prove to be determined by the ruling polynomial of the link.     Experimental Investigation of Reactive Extraction of Levulinic Acid from Aqueous Solutions

    The separation of levulinic acid from aqueous solutions is costly and non-ecofriendly in many cases. The major concerns are the low concentration of levulinic acid in fermentation broths and industrial downstreams. In this study, reactive extraction of levulinic acid from aqueous phase is proposed and its efficacy was investigated. Various extractants viz. tri-n-butyl phosphate, trioctylamine, and trioctylmethylammonium chloride along with i-octanol as a diluent were used. The extent of separation was investigated and various performance parameters like extraction efficiency, distribution coefficient, equilibrium complexation constant, and loading ratio were estimated. The number of transfer units, diffusivity, and mass transfer considerations were also discussed in the reactive separation system. Finally, the conceptual method was provided for the separation of levulinic acid using efficient reactive separation.     The main objective of this project is to investigate the possibility of utilizing waste marble dust (MD) in cement and permeable concrete production. The research work was divided into four sections. The first section deals with the properties of cement modified with marble dust (marble dust blended cement), whereas the second section discusses the properties of concrete contained marble dust as a cement replacement. The replacement ratios which have been studied were 0.0%, 5.0%,, 10.0% , and 15% by weight. Water to powder ratio (w/p) or water to cement ratio (w/c) were 0.35 and 0.40 in case of cement replacement. Physical, mechanical and chemical properties of cement and concrete modified with marble dust were investigated. The third section this introduction to permeable concrete roads reviews its applications and engineering properties, including environmental benefits, structural properties, and durability. The fourth section deals with checking of compressive strength of traditional permeable concrete and cement replaced by marble dust in permeable concrete.     Application of Permutation Group Theory in Reversible Logic Synthesis

    The paper discusses various applications of permutation group theory in the synthesis of reversible logic circuits consisting of Toffoli gates with negative control lines. An asymptotically optimal synthesis algorithm for circuits consisting of gates from the NCT library is described. An algorithm for gate complexity reduction, based on equivalent replacements of gates compositions, is introduced. A new approach for combining a group-theory-based synthesis algorithm with a Reed-Muller-spectra-based synthesis algorithm is described. Experimental results are presented to show that the proposed synthesis techniques allow a reduction in input lines count, gate complexity or quantum cost of reversible circuits for various benchmark functions.Comment: In English, 15 pages, 2 figures, 7 tables.
