An invariant second-order closure model of the compressible turbulent boundary layer on a flat plate
The development of an invariant model designed expressly for the computation of shear flows is discussed. The model for incompressible layers seeks a second-order closure of the equations for the mean and fluctuating fields. The development of a method for computing the behavior of shear layers in compressible forces is described. The complexity of the analysis is restrained by limiting the consideration to a flat plate boundary layer where the mean pressure can be taken to be constant

The Southern Vilnius Photometric System. IV. The E Regions Standard Stars
This paper is the fourth in a series on the extension of the Vilnius
photometric system to the southern hemisphere. Observations were made of 60
stars in the Harvard Standard E regions to increase a set of standard stars.Comment: 6 pages, TeX, requires 2 macros (baltic2.tex, baltic4.tex) included

A note on the algebraic growth rate of Poincar\'e series for Kleinian groups
In this note we employ infinite ergodic theory to derive estimates for the
algebraic growth rate of the Poincar\'e series for a Kleinian group at its
critical exponent of convergence.Comment: 8 page
Evaluation of MOSTAS computer code for predicting dynamic loads in two bladed wind turbines
Calculated dynamic blade loads were compared with measured loads over a range of yaw stiffnesses of the DOE/NASA Mod-O wind turbine to evaluate the performance of two versions of the MOSTAS computer code. The first version uses a time-averaged coefficient approximation in conjunction with a multi-blade coordinate transformation for two bladed rotors to solve the equations of motion by standard eigenanalysis. The second version accounts for periodic coefficients while solving the equations by a time history integration. A hypothetical three-degree of freedom dynamic model was investigated. The exact equations of motion of this model were solved using the Floquet-Lipunov method. The equations with time-averaged coefficients were solved by standard eigenanalysis
Deceleration of the solar wind in the Earth foreshock region: ISEE 2 and IMP 8 observations
The deceleration of the solar wind in the region of the interplanetary space filled by ions backstreaming from the Earth bow shock was studied using a two spacecraft technique. This deceleration, which is correlated with the "diffuse" but not with the "reflected" ion population, depends on the solar wind bulk velocity: at low velocities (below 300 km/sec) the velocity decrease is about 5 km/sec, while at higher velocities (above 400 km/sec) the decrease may be as large as 30 km/sec. Along with this deceleration, the solar wind undergoes a deflection of about 1 deg away from the direction of the Earth bow shock. The energy balance shows that the kinetic energy loss far exceeds the thermal energy which is possibly gained by the solar wind, therefore, at least part of this energy must go into waves and/or into the backstreaming ions
Multiple Moving Object Recognitions in video based on Log Gabor-PCA Approach
Object recognition in the video sequence or images is one of the sub-field of
computer vision. Moving object recognition from a video sequence is an
appealing topic with applications in various areas such as airport safety,
intrusion surveillance, video monitoring, intelligent highway, etc. Moving
object recognition is the most challenging task in intelligent video
surveillance system. In this regard, many techniques have been proposed based
on different methods. Despite of its importance, moving object recognition in
complex environments is still far from being completely solved for low
resolution videos, foggy videos, and also dim video sequences. All in all,
these make it necessary to develop exceedingly robust techniques. This paper
introduces multiple moving object recognition in the video sequence based on
LoG Gabor-PCA approach and Angle based distance Similarity measures techniques
used to recognize the object as a human, vehicle etc. Number of experiments are
conducted for indoor and outdoor video sequences of standard datasets and also
our own collection of video sequences comprising of partial night vision video
sequences. Experimental results show that our proposed approach achieves an
excellent recognition rate. Results obtained are satisfactory and competent.Comment: 8,26,conferenc
