Fil: Díaz, Claudio Fernando. Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades. Escuela de Letras; Argentina.A field of cultural production that was gradually established in Argentina since the mid twentieth century as part of the more general evolution of the communications media and mass culture came to controversially be called “folklore” in the social imaginary. Quite a number of scholars have shown the difference between this type of musical expression, which pertains to mass culture, and authentically folkloric phenomena--no matter how they are defined. Despite these issues, the “folklore” connected to the recording industry and big Argentine festivals like Cosquín and Jesús María has continued to evolve, is still called “folklore” and is an important type of popular music in Argentina. As I have mentioned elsewhere, I propose that Argentine folklore be studied as a specific field of cultural production--in other words, as a system of social relations having its own rules of production and consecration. Because this field of discursive production is part of the cultural industry’s overall production of popular music, its game rules are very different from the ones found in the sociocultural areas where the musical genres comprising the larger field of popular music originally came from. However, like all fields of discursive cultural production, folklore operates according to the principle of competition for legitimacy, which evolved per specific rules and is based upon specific ideals regarding conseration. These rules are not arbitrary; instead, they were gradually constructed by means of the battles that impacted the field’s formative process from the 1920s on. This is how the “classic” paradigm of production -as I call it--specific to the field of folklore was constructed.Fil: Díaz, Claudio Fernando. Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. Treball Final de Màster Universitari en Professor/a d'Educació Secundària Obligatòria i Batxillerat, Formació Professional i Ensenyaments d'Idiomes. Codi SAP419. Curs: 2020/2021In the last three decades, literature has regained its position as an educational tool capable of promoting students' linguistic proficiency. Moreover, literary texts convey an education in values and attitudes, alongside an awareness of different cultures and worldviews. Under these parameters, the introduction of authentic reading material in the English as a Foreign Language curriculum seems not only appropriate but desirable. This design-of-material proposal intends to exploit Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's short story Olikoye to achieve the abovementioned results. To this end, the activities and teaching materials comprised in the following Didactic Unit are designed following the three-model approach by Carter & Long (1991), which intends to develop the student's linguistic, cultural and personal growth competences

Dynamic parameter estimation problem for ethanol production from seaweed

Ethanol has been studied extensively as one of the current and probably future energy vectors. Fermentation of hydrolysed oligosaccharides from macroalgae biomass to ethanol has been certified, and several processing options have been proposed. In the present work, we model the production of ethanol based on Laminaria, a seaweed genus that belongs to the so-called "brown algae" group, as the carbon source. In brown algae, the most relevant sugars that can be used as substrate for fermentation are mannitol -the alcohol form of the sugar mannose- and laminaran, a linear polysaccharide of(1,3)-β-Dglucopyranose. We consider the yeast Pichia angophorae as the fermenting microorganism. The model includes dynamic mass balances for biomass, ethanol, mannitol and laminaran. Growth is controlled via limiting functions that modify the biomass equation for temperature and oxygen transfer rate (OTR). It is also modified by including a term that considers inhibition by ethanol. Based on the proposed model, a dynamic parameter estimation problem is formulated, the objective function being weighted least-squares fit to data, subject to the mass balance equations. The data set for parameter estimation was obtained in batch liquid cultures, with experiments performed over 40 hours. Numerical results provide useful insights on ethanol production using macroalgae biomass as carbon sourceFil: Delpino, Claudio. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. This article reports Chilean and Finnish foreign-language (FL) teachers’ perceptions of teaching and study realities in their own FL classrooms. Communicative language teaching (CLT) is used as the teaching–studying–learning methodological framework of an international KIELO project (= the acronym for Finnish “kieltenopetus” meaning “language teaching”), whose online survey was used to collect data for this article. We aim at answering the following research question: What are the FL teachers’ main approaches to teaching and studying in Chilean and Finnish FL classrooms and what is the FL classroom teaching and study reality like in these two countries? The data were collected from 83 Chilean and 147 Finnish FL teachers through an online survey covering 15 key themes of CLT and including 115 Likert-scale statements and 8 open-ended questions. In the descriptive data analysis, both Chilean and Finnish FL teachers claim that they encourage their students to use the target language considerably and that they use communicative oral tasks. For both groups of participants, however, teacher-centeredness and use of textbook score relatively high. The two-cluster analysis revealed a context-dependent cluster and a context-independent cluster. Context-dependent teachers tended to favor communicative oral tasks, real-life tasks and their own language tasks, whereas context-independent teachers favored more non-communicative tasks. Context-dependent teachers proved more student-centered than context-independent teachers. For Chilean and Finnish research participants, the use of mother tongue in foreign language classrooms appears to be an issue despite the growing need of foreign language communication. Key words: Foreign language teaching and studying, communicative language teaching, teachers’ perception of teaching and studying.Peer reviewe

Organizational justice (OJ) is an important predictor of different work attitudes and behaviors. Colquitt’s Organizational Justice Scale (COJS) was designed to assess employees’ perceptions of fairness. This scale has four dimensions: distributive, procedural, informational, and interpersonal justice. The objective of this study is to validate it in a Spanish sample. Method: The scale was administered to 460 Spanish employees from the service sector. 40.4% were men and 59.6% women. Results: The Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) supported the four dimensions structure for Spanish version of COJS. This model showed a better fi t to data that the others models tested. Cronbach’s alpha obtained for subscales ranged between .88 and .95. Correlations of the Spanish version of COJS with measures of incivility and job satisfaction were statistically significant and had a moderate to high magnitude, indicating a reasonable degree of construct validity. Conclusions: The Spanish version of COJS has adequate psychometric properties and may be of value in assessing OJ in Spanish settingLa justicia organizacional (JO) es un predictor importante de diferentes actitudes y conductas organizacionales.
