"The purpose of this study is to numerically investigate the performance of a solar physical surface absorption cooling system, in which activated carbon/methanol is used as a working pair, which is placed inside a parabolic-shaped solar collector. The governing mathematical model of this issue is based on the equations of conservation of mass, conservation of energy, and thermodynamics of the physical surface absorption process. The equations are discretized using the fully implicit finite difference method, and the Fortran computer program was simulated. A comparison with the results of previous laboratory and numerical studies validated this model. At each point in the bed, the temperature, pressure, and mass of the refrigerant absorbed during the physical surface absorption/discharge process were calculated. In addition, the effects of the bed diameter, amount of solar radiation, source temperature, temperature, and pressure of the evaporator and condenser were investigated on the solar performance coefficient and the specific cooling power of the system. According to the built laboratory model and the working conditions of the system, the solar performance coefficient and the specific cooling capacity of the system are equal to 0.12 and 45.6 W/kg, respectively.

Techno-Economic Energy Optimization of the Off-Grid Electrical System with Power to Gas Storage Technology

Renewable energy sources (RESs) have undeniable advantages over the recent years not only to supply electrical demand but also electrical demand. However, maximum use of the RES’s power has always been challenging as high penetration of the RESs as well as their intermittent nature might compromise the distribution networks power flow constraints. This paper proposes optimal energy operation of the off-grid distribution network  (DN) with participation of the power-to-gas (PtG) storage system. In this regard, PtG system is considered as an energy supplier in the DN. The natural gas generated by using PtG is applied to backup diesel generators for meeting demand at peak times. The objective functions in the system are modeled based on technical and economic modeling including minimize the operation cost and maximize the system reliability. The optimal energy operation in the two case studies is assumed considering non-participation and participation of the PtG system. To solving of the energy optimization, particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed. Finally, proposed case studies under numerical simulation are implemented for validation of the participation of the PtG system

Strategic management model to promote competitiveness in tourism companies in Cañete

Today’s tourism environment is increasingly competitive, so strategic management is a fundamental process that every company must implement to evaluate the business, define goals, develop strategies and identify resources for their realization. Due to the pandemic, the tourism sector is facing new challenges to stay in the market. Therefore, we propose a strategic management model to improve the competitiveness of tourism companies. We used the survey technique to collect information regarding the variables strategic management and competitiveness with its dimensions change management, staff training, service quality, differentiation and technology management, which was addressed to 20 managers in the sector resulting in a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.823. The results show that 60% of managers indicate that the change management capacity of their companies is regular. The results show that 60% of managers indicate that the change management capacity of their companies is regular. 55% indicate that the training of tourism personnel is regular, 60% express that the differentiation strategy of their company is bad. These results reflect that Cañete tourism companies must implement strategic management for the development of productive capacities for their organizations, improving competitiveness through new products, services and processe

Tackling Noise: Technology Integration for Improved Noise Pollution Monitoring

    No full text
Noise pollution derived from motor vehicles, especially those with noisy engines, constitutes a significant challenge in urban environments, impacting quality of life and public health. In this context, the present study focuses on the implementation of an advanced technological solution: a web-based system specifically designed to monitor and manage noise pollution in Tarapoto, Peru. The execution of this project was structured in 4 key phases. The first phase involved extensive data collection and definition of the project scope. In the second phase, the system architecture was established based on initial observations. The third phase focussed on evaluating and improving system functionalities, while the fourth involved rigorous testing and corrections. The successful implementation of this system led to a significant improvement in the noise pollution monitoring process, reducing reporting times and improving data-driven decision making. This project not only provides a valuable tool for authorities in the management and mitigation of noise pollution, but also encourages community awareness and active participation in the sustainable management of the urban acoustic environment
