Fixed and Mobile Phoning in Italian Regions
The telecommunication diffusion and it?s interaction with the socio-economic environment was analysed both in terms of introduction of new technologies in the market and their diffusion/substitution process with respect to former technologies. Nevertheless, the word ?innovation? should be referred to products in a more general sense, so avoiding limitations to technology but also keeping track of all those characterising elements of products inside the market. Due to a similar approach, should be considered as innovative a product even if it doesn?t contain technological components different with respect to pre-existing ones, but also if a former technology is sold using totally innovative formulas. This modified viewpoint requires a more flexible approach to the diffusion process. This approach can enhance the interest on studying those different answers adopted by different socio-economic environments, to analyse the characteristic elements enabling the identification of categories with similar behaviour. 1D and 2D site amplification effects at Tarcento (Friuli, NE Italy), 30years later
A temporary accelerometer network has been installed in Tarcento (Friuli, NE Italy), a small town heavily hit by the 1976-1977 Friuli earthquake sequence, as a part of an ongoing research project aimed at ground motion simulation and generation of shakemaps in the near-field of an earthquake. The network operated from October 2008 to April 2010 and consisted of three K2 accelerographs with internal Episensor, distributed over a linear array of about 1.5km length. Tarcento town had been chosen, at the end of the 1970s, as the ideal site for a pilot microzonation study, the first of this kind in Italy, in which a substantial number of field (and laboratory) tests were carried out in order to assess the mechanical properties of local alluvium deposits and their complex (3D) geometrical configuration. The data from the temporary network, illustrated herein, allow for proper verification and review of some of the quantitative predictions formulated in the 1980 study. As argued in the discussion section, we also believe that the data are apt to provide valuable information of more general interest on the complex seismic response of alluvium-filled valleys, and we show therein how the observations can be interpreted in the light of presently available parametric simulation studies and simplified criteria for handling basin amplification effect
Deep Water Archaeology in Italy and in the Tyrrhenian Sea
The paper presents the history of the research in Deep water archaeology in Italy and the recent activities carried out by Fondazione Azionemare in collaboration with the Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici of the Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Through a preliminary presentation of some shipwrecks dated to the Roman period, discovered by the Fondazione Azionemare and investigated, thanks also the photogrammetry, with the archaeologists of the Venetian university, the article analysis the characteristics and the potentialities of these contexts which present an excellent level of conservation
Integrated Approach Including Docking, MD Simulations, and Network Analysis Highlights the Action Mechanism of the Cardiac hERG Activator RPR260243
hERG is a voltage-gatedpotassium channel involved inthe heartcontraction whose defections are associated with the cardiac arrhythmiaLong QT Syndrome type 2. The activator RPR260243 (RPR) representsa possible candidate to pharmacologically treat LQTS2 because it enhancesthe opening of the channel. However, the molecular detail of its actionmechanism remains quite elusive. Here, we address the problem usinga combination of docking, molecular dynamics simulations, and networkanalysis. We show that the drug preferably binds at the interfacebetween the voltage sensor and the pore, enhancing the canonical activationpath and determining a whole-structure rearrangement of the channelthat slightly impairs inactivation
