Inertial Frame Independent Forcing for Discrete Velocity Boltzmann Equation: Implications for Filtered Turbulence Simulation
We present a systematic derivation of a model based on the central moment
lattice Boltzmann equation that rigorously maintains Galilean invariance of
forces to simulate inertial frame independent flow fields. In this regard, the
central moments, i.e. moments shifted by the local fluid velocity, of the
discrete source terms of the lattice Boltzmann equation are obtained by
matching those of the continuous full Boltzmann equation of various orders.
This results in an exact hierarchical identity between the central moments of
the source terms of a given order and the components of the central moments of
the distribution functions and sources of lower orders. The corresponding
source terms in velocity space are then obtained from an exact inverse
transformation due to a suitable choice of orthogonal basis for moments.
Furthermore, such a central moment based kinetic model is further extended by
incorporating reduced compressibility effects to represent incompressible flow.
Moreover, the description and simulation of fluid turbulence for full or any
subset of scales or their averaged behavior should remain independent of any
inertial frame of reference. Thus, based on the above formulation, a new
approach in lattice Boltzmann framework to incorporate turbulence models for
simulation of Galilean invariant statistical averaged or filtered turbulent
fluid motion is discussed.Comment: 37 pages, 1 figur
Asymptotic behaviour of the spectrum of a waveguide with distant perturbations
We consider the waveguide modelled by a -dimensional infinite tube. The
operator we study is the Dirichlet Laplacian perturbed by two distant
perturbations. The perturbations are described by arbitrary abstract operators
''localized'' in a certain sense, and the distance between their ''supports''
tends to infinity. We study the asymptotic behaviour of the discrete spectrum
of such system. The main results are a convergence theorem and the asymptotics
expansions for the eigenvalues. The asymptotic behaviour of the associated
eigenfunctions is described as well. We also provide some particular examples
of the distant perturbations. The examples are the potential, second order
differential operator, magnetic Schroedinger operator, curved and deformed
waveguide, delta interaction, and integral operator
Studies for a Photon Collider at the ILC
One option at the International Linear Collider is to convert the electron
beams into high energy photon beams by Compton scattering a few millimetres in
front of the interaction region. Selected physics channels for this option have
been analysed and technical issues have been studied. So far no showstoppers
for this option have been found.Comment: V2: Minor changes, accepted by NI
DogOnt - Ontology Modeling for Intelligent Domotic Environments
Abstract. Home automation has recently gained a new momentum thanks to the ever-increasing commercial availability of domotic components. In this context, researchers are working to provide interoperation mechanisms and to add intelligence on top of them. For supporting intelligent behaviors, house modeling is an essential requirement to understand current and future house states and to possibly drive more complex actions. In this paper we propose a new house modeling ontology designed to fit real world domotic system capabilities and to support interoperation between currently available and future solutions. Taking advantage of technologies developed in the context of the Semantic Web, the DogOnt ontology supports device/network independent description of houses, including both “controllable ” and architectural elements. States and functionalities are automatically associated to the modeled elements through proper inheritance mechanisms and by means of properly defined SWRL auto-completion rules which ease the modeling process, while automatic device recognition is achieved through classification reasoning.
