Heavy quark potential in the instanton liquid model
We study the heavy quark potential in the instanton liquid model by carefully
measuring Wilson loops out to a distance of order 3. A random instanton
ensemble with a fixed radius = 1/3 generates a potential
growing very slowly at large . In contrast, a more realistic size
distribution growing as at small and decaying as at
large , leads to a potential which grows linearly with . The string
tension, however, is only about 1/10 of the phenomenological value.Comment: LATTICE98(confine
A Generalization of the Ramanujan Polynomials and Plane Trees
Generalizing a sequence of Lambert, Cayley and Ramanujan, Chapoton has
recently introduced a polynomial sequence Q_n:=Q_n(x,y,z,t) defined by Q_1=1,
Q_{n+1}=[x+nz+(y+t)(n+y\partial_y)]Q_n. In this paper we prove Chapoton's
conjecture on the duality formula: Q_n(x,y,z,t)=Q_n(x+nz+nt,y,-t,-z), and
answer his question about the combinatorial interpretation of Q_n. Actually we
give combinatorial interpretations of these polynomials in terms of plane
trees, half-mobile trees, and forests of plane trees. Our approach also leads
to a general formula that unifies several known results for enumerating trees

Correct path-integral formulation of quantum thermal field theory in coherent-state representation
The path-integral quantization of thermal scalar, vector and spinor fields is
performed newly in the coherent-state representation. In doing this, we choose
the thermal electrodynamics and theory as examples. By this
quantization, correct expressions of the partition functions and the generating
functionals for the quantum thermal electrodynamics and theory are
obtained in the coherent-state representation. These expressions allow us to
perform analytical calculations of the partition functions and generating
functionals and therefore are useful in practical applications. Especially, the
perturbative expansions of the generating functionals are derived specifically
by virtue of the stationary-phase method. The generating functionals formulated
in the position space are re-derived from the ones given in the coherent-state
representation
Meso-scale transboundary units for the management of coral reefs in the South China Sea area
Local communities and local government units are recognized as the primary stakeholders and participants in the management of coral reef resources and the primary beneficiaries of small-scale fishing activities in the nearshore areas of the coastal zone. The issues relating to the management of the coastal zone are multi-faceted and some issues are largely intertwined with national policy and development goals. Thus, national governments have jurisdiction over these nearshore coastal resources to harmonize policies, monitor resource use and provide incentives for sustainable use. However, the natural boundaries of these reef resources, the processes that support reef ecosystems, and the local or national affiliation of the people who benefit from them may transcend the boundaries of the local and national management units. Therefore, efforts to arrest the decline in fish catch and loss of biodiversity for reefs require management interventions and assessment activities to be carried out at varying scales. In Southeast Asia, some aspects of reef and reef resources management â particularly in deciding the allocation of catch among competing fisheries, development of sustainable harvest strategies, use of broodstock for restocking or stock enhancement programs, protection of nursery and spawning areas, designation of systems of marine protected areas, and the identification of representative, adequate and comprehensive areas for biodiversity conservation in the region â may require the definition of larger management units. At the regional level, multi-country initiatives will need to define units for the transboundary management of resources. The use of large marine ecosystems (LMEs) to identify and manage fisheries resources may be a starting point; however, given the relatively sedentary nature of coral reef-dwelling and reef-associated organisms compared with other pelagic and demersal species, meso-scale transboundary units within the LMEs have to be defined. This paper provides suggestions for transboundary management units for coral reef and reef-associated resources in Southeast Asia based on information from genetic structures of model organisms in the region. Optimization on the financial management of the bank with goal programming model
Financial management is crucial for planning bankâs asset and liabilities while takingconsideration for multiple objectives. The objective of this study is to develop a GoalProgramming (GP) model to optimize the financial management of Public Bank Berhad inMalaysia. Six goals from the financial statements namely total asset, total liability, total equity, profit, earning and optimum management items are investigated for the period from 2011 to 2015. The results of this study indicate that all six goals are fully achieved by using the GP model. This study is significant because it helps to develop a mathematical model to examine the financial strengths of Public Bank Berhad in Malaysia. Besides that, the potential improvement on liability, equity, profit, earning and optimum management item of Public Bank Berhadcan be identified in this study based on the deviation from the target value.Keywords: Asset; Liability; Equity; Profit; Earning; Optimum Management Item
Neutrino-Deuteron Scattering in Effective Field Theory at Next-to-Next-to Leading Order
We study the four channels associated with neutrino-deuteron breakup
reactions at next-to-next to leading order in effective field theory. We find
that the total cross-section is indeed converging for neutrino energies up to
20 MeV, and thus our calculations can provide constraints on theoretical
uncertainties for the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory. We stress the importance of
a direct experimental measurement to high precision in at least one channel, in

By using the Newton interpolation formula, we generalize the recent
identities on the Catalan triangle obtained by Miana and Romero as well as
those of Chen and Chu. We further study divisibility properties of sums of
products of binomial coefficients and an odd power of a natural number. For

Surface tension of the isotropic-nematic interface
We present the first calculations of the pressure tensor profile in the
vicinity of the planar interface between isotropic liquid and nematic liquid
crystal, using Onsager's density functional theory and computer simulation.
When the liquid crystal director is aligned parallel to the interface, the
situation of lowest free energy, there is a large tension on the nematic side
of the interface and a small compressive region on the isotropic side. By
contrast, for perpendicular alignment, the tension is on the isotropic side.
There is excellent agreement between theory and simulation both in the forms of
the pressure tensor profiles, and the values of the surface tension.Comment: Minor changes; to appear in Phys. Rev.
Some congruences involving central q-binomial coefficients
Motivated by recent works of Sun and Tauraso, we prove some variations on the
Green-Krammer identity involving central q-binomial coefficients, such as where is
the Legendre symbol and is the th cyclotomic polynomial. As

The quadratic spinor Lagrangian is equivalent to the teleparallel theory
The quadratic spinor Lagrangian is shown to be equivalent to the teleparallel
/ tetrad representation of Einstein's theory. An important consequence is that
the energy-momentum density obtained from this quadratic spinor Lagrangian is
