Rest-frame stacking of 2XMM catalog sources : Properties of the Fe Kalpha line
The aim of this work is to characterize the average Fe K emission properties
of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) in the source rest-frame. We selected a sample
of 248 AGNs from the 2XMM catalog, covering a wide redshift range 0 < z < 5 and
with the EPIC-PN net 2-10 keV rest-frame counts >=200 and power law photon
indices in the range 1.5-2.2. We employed two fully independent rest-frame
stacking procedures to compute the mean Fe K profile. The counting statistics
for the integrated spectrum is comparable to the one available for the best
studied local Seyferts. To identify the artifacts possibly introduced by the
stacking procedure, we have carried out simulations. We report that the average
Fe K line profile in our sample is best represented by a combination of a
narrow and a broad line. The equivalent widths of the narrow and broad
(parametrized with a diskline) components are ~30 eV and ~100 eV, respectively.
We also discuss the results of more complex fits and the implications of the
adopted continuum modeling on the broad line parameters and its detection
significance.Comment: 13 pages, 13 figures, Accepted for publication in A&
Preventive and Protective Solution for Corrosion in Concrete through Chemistry
Damage caused by corrosion of concrete structure has been recognized as one of the major problem affecting service life of structure. But corrosion cannot be stopped compl-etely.It can be reduced if certain practices to combat corrosion are applied. Permeability is the gateway of corrosion. Hence corrosion - permeability interaction has been presented in this paper. Water proofing has been
suggested as preventive solution for concrete structure
exposed to corrosive environment . Structures are damaged due to corrosion in concrete.Suitable and effective
repair system is unavoidable protective solution for corrosion affected concrete structure. In the present paper the authors have made an attempt to present prev-entive and protective solution of corrosion in concrete through chemistry. Repair material, its criteria , various techniques and methodology has also been discussed. The
approach is also illustrated by presenting two case studies
Proterozoic Charnockites at 1.6 & 1.0 Ga in the Eastern Ghats Belt, India, Mirror Secular Evolution of Continental Crust
As the Earth continued to cool down, the chemistry of granitic rocks reflect the changing conditions &/or processes of continental crust formation. Compared to the 1.0 Ga charnockites, the 1.0 Ga charnockites in the Eastern Ghats Belt, are more potassium and Rubidium rich, with more negative Eu anomalies and show much less HREE fractionation. Thus the 1.0 Ga charnockites are more evolved in composition and this is consistent with secular evolution of the continental crust throughout the Proterozoic era
Epidemiological Profile of Complete Suicidal Poisoning Cases Autopsied at Autopsy Centre, RIMS, Ranchi
Background: Suicidal behaviour is any deliberate action that has potentially life-threatening consequences, such as taking a drug overdose, deliberately consuming poison, hanging, drowning, burn etc. The aim of this study was to illustrate the epidemiological profile of complete suicidal poisoning cases autopsied at Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi, India. Methods: All cases autopsied at autopsy centre of department of forensic medicine and toxicology between April 2013 to October 2014 evaluated. Data obtained from the Information regarding the socio-demographic, mode of suicides, time of incidence, place of incidence, occupation, etc were gathered from the police papers like inquest report, dead body challan etc, and through detailed interviews of the relatives, neighbours, friends, and police officials accompanying the dead bodies. Results: Total 3492 cases were autopsied, out of which only 180 cases were due to acute self-poisoning, suicidal in nature. This was 5.2% of the total cases autopsied at centre. The ratio of male and female suicide by poisoning was almost equal (M: F = 1.22: 1). The majority of victims were married, unemployed, from joint family and middle economic class. The most important agents of poisoning were agrochemical pesticides among these majorities were due to organophosphate. Conclusion: More than 50% of victims from both male and female were in between 15 years to 30 years. The maximum victims were consumed poison at evening (between 4 PM to 8 PM) during summer season. The Agrochemicals were the preferred agents with organophosphates alone responsible for about 50% of suicidal mortalities followed by aluminium phosphide
Transmission Electron Microscope Studies of Thin Films of CdSe Vacuum Evaporated from Knudsen-Type Source
A Knudsen-type evaporation source was used for the vacuum deposition of thin films of CdSe to study their growth and microstructure on to air-cleaved KCI and mica substrates under different rates of evaporation and substrate temperatures. The conditions for the growth of epitaxial films of this material onto mica have also been established and their photoconducting properties evaluated. CdSe films prepared by this source retain their stoichiometry and compare well with those prepared by other sources of vacuum evaporation
