CLUMPY: a code for gamma-ray signals from dark matter structures
We present the first public code for semi-analytical calculation of the
gamma-ray flux astrophysical J-factor from dark matter annihilation/decay in
the Galaxy, including dark matter substructures. The core of the code is the
calculation of the line of sight integral of the dark matter density squared
(for annihilations) or density (for decaying dark matter). The code can be used
in three modes: i) to draw skymaps from the Galactic smooth component and/or
the substructure contributions, ii) to calculate the flux from a specific halo
(that is not the Galactic halo, e.g. dwarf spheroidal galaxies) or iii) to
perform simple statistical operations from a list of allowed DM profiles for a
given object. Extragalactic contributions and other tracers of DM annihilation

Early Maladaptive Schemas among children: a new way to screen for depressed child
How can children’s schemas evolve into adult schemas that are responsible for depression? To answer
this question, we translated Schmidt, Joiner, Young, and Telch’s (1995) Early Maladaptive Schema
Questionnaire into French and adapted it to children. We administered the questionnaire to two groups
of children in years seven to ten (N = 252), one group containing children suffering from depression
and the other containing children with no psychiatric disorders. The results provided insight into the
structure of depression schemas. From a clinical perspective, we stress the possibility of using this
tool to individually or collectively detect «normal» and «abnormal» schemas in children

Recent Results From the EU POF-PLUS Project: Multi-Gigabit Transmission Over 1 mm Core Diameter Plastic Optical Fibers
Recent activity to achieve multi-gigabit transmission over 1 mm core diameter graded-index and step-index plastic optical fibers for distances up to 50 meters is reported in this paper. By employing a simple intensity-modulated direct-detection system with pulse amplitude or digital multi-tone modulation techniques, low-cost transceivers and easy to install large-core POFs, it is demonstrated that multi-gigabit transmission up to 10 Gbit/s over 1-mm core diameter POF infrastructure is feasible. The results presented in this paper were obtained in the EU FP7 POF-PLUS project, which focused on applications in different scenarios, such as in next-generation in-building residential networks and in datacom applications
Terrestrial groundwater and nutrient discharge along the 240-km-long Aquitanian coast
We collected samples from sea water, runnel water, beach pore waters, water from the unconfined surficial aquifer discharging at the beach face, groundwater, and rainwater from the Aquitanian coast in order to determine the flux of dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), phosphorus and silica from terrestrial submarine groundwater discharge (SGD). The flux of fresh groundwater was obtained from a water balance calculation based on precipitation and evapotranspiration and assessment of the coastal watershed from hydrograph separation. Waters with intermediate salinities between sea water and freshwaters are found all along the 240-km-long coast, indicating that SGD is ubiquitous. The estimated fresh water flux is 2.25 m3 d− 1 m− 1 longshore. Terrestrial SGD provides a DIN flux of 9·106 mol each year to the adjacent coastal zone. This flux is about four times lower than the release of DIN due to tidally driven saline SGD. The freshwater DIN flux is low because the upland land use consists almost exclusively of pine forest. Dissolved organic nitrogen represents more than 60% of the total dissolved nitrogen flux. Dissolved iron, phosphorus and silica have much higher concentrations in the anoxic forest aquifer than in the fresh-water end-member of the subterranean estuary sampled in the upper beach aquifer. This suggests that the salinity gradient of the estuary does not correspond to a redox gradient. The redox front between anoxic groundwater and fresh oxic waters occurs below the soil-depleted foredune/yellow dune. Anoxic P- and Si-rich waters seep directly on the beach face only in the north Gironde, where the foredunes are eroded. This study reveals the role of the sandy foredune aquifer in biogeochemical fluxes from SGD, which is to dilute and oxidize waters from the unconfined surficial upland aquifer
Evaluation of Corn Response to In-Season Potassium Fertilization Using Dry Fertilizer
In-season application of potassium (K) fertilizer may offer an alternative to remediate deficiencies developed during the growing season. The objective of this study was to determine corn response to topdress K application under deficient K soil conditions. Treatments included a control and 50 lb K2O/a in-season broadcasted at the V8 growth stage. The fertilizer source was potassium chloride (KCl). Measurements collected were plant biomass and tissue nutrient concentration at reproductive stage (R6), and grain yield. Potassium fertilization increased yield at the location evaluated in this study. The in-season fertilized treatment produced higher yield compared to the control (P \u3c 0.09). The late K fertilization had higher K concentration and uptake in the plant at R6 (P \u3c 0.06) with the same plant biomass as the control treatment. Also, broadcasting KCl at V8 resulted in a higher K/Mg ratio late in the season (R6). Preliminary results of this study suggest that in-season applications using dry K fertilizers could be used when pre-plant fertilization was not done. Nevertheless, for a dry growing season, corn response might be limited

Design of the strut braced wing aircraft in the agile collaborative MDO framework
The paper describes the deployment of the AGILE Development Framework to investigate the Strut Braced Wing aircraft configuration. The design process consists of a multilevel multidisciplinary architecture, progressing from the initial conceptual synthesis to the physics based analysis. All the main disciplinary domains, including on board system design and cost assessment, are accounted for in the assembled workflow. Due to the specific characteristics of the Strut Braced Wing configuration, the aeroelastic analysis is the main focus of the study and it is addressed at both high and low fidelity levels. The integration of the engine-wing system is also included in the design process. All the design competences, which are hosted at the different partners, communicate via CPACS (Common Parametric Aircraft Configuration Schema) data schema. All the results generated, including the multidisciplinary design process itself, will be published and made available as part of the AGILE Overall Aircraft Design database
Acromioplasty during repair of rotator cuff tears removes only half of the impinging acromial bone.
To date, there is no consensus on when and how to perform acromioplasty during rotator cuff repair (RCR). We aimed to determine the volume of impinging bone removed during acromioplasty and whether it influences postoperative range of motion (ROM) and clinical scores after RCR.
Preoperative and postoperative computed tomography scans of 57 shoulders that underwent RCR were used to reconstruct scapula models to simulate volumes of impinging acromial bone preoperatively and then compare them to the volumes of bone resected postoperatively to calculate the proportions of desired (ideal) vs. unnecessary (excess) resections. All patients were evaluated preoperatively and at 6 months to assess ROM and functional scores.
The volume of impinging bone identified was 3.5 ± 2.3 cm <sup>3</sup> , of which 1.6 ± 1.2 cm <sup>3</sup> (50% ± 27%) was removed during acromioplasty. The volume of impinging bone identified was not correlated with preoperative critical shoulder angle (r = 0.025, P = .853), nor with glenoid inclination (r = -0.024, P = .857). The volume of bone removed was 3.7 ± 2.2 cm <sup>3</sup> , of which 2.1 ± 1.6 cm <sup>3</sup> (53% ± 24%) were unnecessary resections. Multivariable analyses revealed that more extensive removal of impinging bone significantly improved internal rotation with the arm at 90° of abduction (beta, 27.5, P = .048) but did not affect other shoulder movements or clinical scores.
