Branching ratio of the electromagnetic decay of the Sigma(+)(1385)
The CLAS detector was used to obtain the first ever measurement of the electromagnetic decay of the Sigma*(+)(1385) from the reaction gamma p -\u3e K-0 Sigma*(+)(1385). A real photon beam with a maximum energy of 3.8 GeV was incident on a liquid-hydrogen target, resulting in the photoproduction of the kaon and Sigma* hyperon. Kinematic fitting was used to separate the reaction channel from the background processes. The fitting algorithm exploited a new method to kinematically fit neutrons in the CLAS detector, leading to the measured decay widths ratio Sigma(+)(1385)-\u3eSigma(+)gamma/Sigma(+)(1385)-\u3eSigma(+)pi(0)=11.95 +/-.2.21(stat)(-1.21)(+0.53)(sys)%and a deduced partial width of 250.0 +/- 56.9(stat)(-41.2)(+34.3)(sys) keV. AU-spin symmetry test using the SU(3) flavor-multiplet representation yields predictions for the Sigma*(+)(1385)-\u3eSigma(+)gamma and Sigma*(0)(1385)-\u3eLambda gamma partial widths that agree with the experimental measurements
Double K-S(0) Photoproduction off the Proton at CLAS
The f0 (1500) meson resonance is one of several contenders to have significant mixing with the lightest glueball. This resonance is well established from several previous experiments. Here we present the first photoproduction data for the f0 (1500) via decay into the K-S(0) K-S(0) channel using the CLAS detector. The reaction Îłp -\u3e fJp -\u3e K-S(0) K-S(0) p, where J = 0,2, was measured with photon energies from 2.7-5.1 GeV. A clear peak is seen at 1500 MeV in the background subtracted invariant mass spectra of the two kaons. This is enhanced if the measured four-momentum transfer to the proton target is restricted to be less than 1.0 GeV2. By comparing data with simulations, it can be concluded that the peak at 1500 MeV is produced primarily at low t, which is consistent with a t-channel production mechanism

Comment on the narrow structure reported by Amaryan et al
The CLAS Collaboration provides a comment on the physics interpretation of
the results presented in a paper published by M. Amaryan et al. regarding the
possible observation of a narrow structure in the mass spectrum of a
photoproduction experiment.Comment: to be published in Physical Review
A comparison of forward and backward pp pair knockout in 3He(e,e'pp)n
Measuring nucleon-nucleon Short Range Correlations (SRC) has been a goal of
the nuclear physics community for many years. They are an important part of the
nuclear wavefunction, accounting for almost all of the high-momentum strength.
They are closely related to the EMC effect. While their overall probability has
been measured, measuring their momentum distributions is more difficult. In
order to determine the best configuration for studying SRC momentum
distributions, we measured the He reaction, looking at events
with high momentum protons ( GeV/c) and a low momentum neutron
( GeV/c). We examined two angular configurations: either both protons
emitted forward or one proton emitted forward and one backward (with respect to
the momentum transfer, ). The measured relative momentum distribution
of the events with one forward and one backward proton was much closer to the
calculated initial-state relative momentum distribution, indicating that
this is the preferred configuration for measuring SRC.Comment: 8 pages, 9 figures, submitted to Phys Rev C. Version 2 incorporates

Exclusive eta electroproduction at W \u3e 2 GeV with CLAS and transversity generalized parton distributions
The cross section of the exclusive eta electroproduction reaction ep -\u3e e\u27p\u27eta was measured at Jefferson Laboratorywith a 5.75 GeV electron beam and the CLAS detector. Differential cross sections d(4) sigma/dtdQ(2) dx(B)d phi(eta) and structure functions sigma(U) = sigma(T) + epsilon sigma(L), sigma(TT), and sigma(LT), as functions of t, were obtained over a wide range of Q(2) and x(B). The eta structure functions are compared with those previously measured for pi(0) at the same kinematics. At low t, both pi(0) and eta are described reasonably well by generalized parton distributions (GPDs) in which chiral-odd transversity GPDs are dominant. The pi(0) and eta data, when taken together, can facilitate the flavor decomposition of the transversity GPDs
Differential cross sections and polarization observables from CLAS K* photoproduction and the search for new N* states
The reaction gamma p -\u3e K*(+)Lambda was measured using the CLAS detector for photon energies between the threshold and 3.9 GeV at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. For the first time, spin-density matrix elements have been extracted for this reaction. Differential cross sections, spin density matrix elements, and the Lambda recoil polarization are compared with theoretical predictions using the BnGa partial wave analysis. The main result is the evidence for significant contributions from N(1895) 1/2(-) and N(2100) 1/2(+) to the reaction. Branching ratios for decays into K*Lambda for these resonances and further resonances are reported. (C) 2017 The Author. Published by Elsevier B.V
Transverse Polarization of in Photoproduction on a Hydrogen Target in CLAS
Experimental results on the hyperon transverse polarization
in photoproduction on a hydrogen target using the CLAS detector at Jefferson
laboratory are presented. The was reconstructed in the
exclusive reaction via the
decay mode. The was reconstructed in the
invariant mass of two oppositely charged pions with the identified in
the missing mass of the detected final state. Experimental data
were collected in the photon energy range = 1.0-3.5 GeV
( range 1.66-2.73 GeV). We observe a large negative polarization of
up to 95%. As the mechanism of transverse polarization of hyperons produced in
unpolarized photoproduction experiments is still not well understood, these
results will help to distinguish between different theoretical models on
hyperon production and provide valuable information for the searches of missing
baryon resonances.Comment: pages 1
Induced polarization of {\Lambda}(1116) in kaon electroproduction
We have measured the induced polarization of the in the
reaction , detecting the scattered and
in the final state along with the proton from the decay .The present study used the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS),
which allowed for a large kinematic acceptance in invariant energy
( GeV) and covered the full range of the kaon production
angle at an average momentum transfer GeV.In this experiment a
5.50 GeV electron beam was incident upon an unpolarized liquid-hydrogen target.
We have mapped out the and kaon production angle dependencies of the
induced polarization and found striking differences from photoproduction data
over most of the kinematic range studied. However, we also found that the
induced polarization is essentially independent in our kinematic domain,
suggesting that somewhere below the covered here there must be a strong
dependence. Along with previously published photo- and electroproduction
cross sections and polarization observables, these data are needed for the
development of models, such as effective field theories, and as input to
coupled-channel analyses that can provide evidence of previously unobserved
-channel resonances.Comment: 13 figure
Cross sections for the ÎłpâK*+Î and ÎłpâK*+ÎŁ0 reactions measured at CLAS
The first high-statistics cross sections for the reactions ÎłpâK*+Î and ÎłpâK*+ÎŁ0 were measured using the CLAS detector at photon energies between threshold and 3.9 GeV at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. Differential cross sections are presented over the full range of the center-of-mass angles, and then fitted to Legendre polynomials to extract the total cross section. Results for the K*+Î final state are compared with two different calculations in an isobar and a Regge model, respectively. Theoretical calculations significantly underestimate the K*+Î total cross sections between 2.1 and 2.6 GeV, but are in better agreement with present data at higher photon energies
