Verilog implementation of the VESA DSC compression algorithm

Video games and sport practice
We present a study that aims to knowing the level of attachment to new technologies and videogames of teens who take a formal and regular sport practice as well as finding out the common characteristics among young people who are athletes and intensive videogame players at the same time. We have employed qualitative methods in a case-study
design. 14-16 year-old-students from Barcelos
Secondary School were the target-population in this research. The data were collected through semistructured interviews whose content was analysed afterwards.
Findings show that these teenagers see large
opportunities to value leisure time in both activities; they also refer socialization as a strong impulse towards those actions; they are stimulated by a strong intrinsic motivation; competitive spirit distinguishes all these youngsters; they recognize educational value to both activities and they see them as an opportunity of learning and development of specific and overall skills
Transnational cooperation in the european research area : opportunities and challenges from the management of scientific research funding initiatives
The European Research Area (ERA), "single market" for research and researchers, intends to be the premier location to share data, compare results, carry out multi-disciplinary studies, transfer and protect new scientific knowledge and gain access to centres of excellence and state-of-the-art equipment. It is organized on the basis of three fundamental principles: the open access, the mobility of researchers and the coordination of the national scientific research programmes.
In the context of the transnational cooperation, an attempt will be made to identify and discuss the possibilities of organizational strategy and financial exploitation, resulting from an active participation in the ERA research funding initiatives, that are offered to FCT and that may come to be offered to other national organizations with purposes related to the financial support and management of Science, Technology & Innovation programmes.N/

A Model for Managing Civil Construction Company Systems
At the beginning of the 20th century, organizations in a globalized and highly competitive environment face two options—either they stagnate by keeping their traditional old fashioned procedures, or they make the decision to look forward and change their current procedure, as they attempt to survive competition and become new competitive organizations that can play a more active role in the future market. Organizational changes are naturally linked to risks, and risks mean opportunities, as well as losses. However, as companies try to modify their procedures and adapt their staff and routine to some novelty, they have a good chance to change risks into opportunities. For most companies, adaptation means the use of modern quality management techniques, such as QCC (Quality Control Circle) or other similar techniques and procedures aimed at improvements such as developing their functions, doing their job, and acting as an organization. Actually, civil engineering companies operating in Brazil have had their success closely related to the way they understand, face, and conduct their adaptation. Although such procedures are useful for a traditional organization to change into a modern one with a competitive edge, there is a previous step that should not be overlooked when considering civil construction companies renewal. This paper presents a management systems model for civil engineering companies that desire to renew and improve their performance. It combines appropriate tools according to their proper uses and creates several subsystems: a functional scope subsystem, a management subsystem, an operational subsystem, an information management subsystem, and an organizational behavior subsystem. The use of this model will provide engineers and managers with efficient and efficacious techniques and procedures for civil construction companies to survive in today’s global, competitive world market
HOW TO MEASURE GAIN-SHARING IN AN OUTSOURCING RELATIONSHIP: A CASE STUDY IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ENVIRONMENT
This study aims to approach the issue of gain-sharing measurement in an information technology outsourcing relationship as a component of remuneration policies for contracted services among companies. The methodology encompass three steps: (i) bibliographical revision on outsourcing relationship in information technology environment and pricing in outsourcing decisions; (ii) a case study in which the problem of gain-sharing measurement emerges in the relationship (providing information technology services) between two large-scale international companies that operate in Brazilian credit card market; (iii) discussion of the findings of the case study on basis of the revised literature. The contributions of the paper are: (i) to identify the main issues related to outsourcing decisions and pricing in outsourcing relationship; (ii) to present a description of the characteristics and behavior of costs in information technology environment; and (iii) to provide an analysis and discussion about the method adopted by the companies for gain-sharing measurement. The bibliographical research showed a lack of literature regarding to the specific subject of gain-sharing measurement. The findings of the empirical study indicated that information technology companies are highly structured with fixed costs and that gain-sharing method adopted by studied companies corresponds to cost efficiency measured through budget parameters
