    Influence of Sports Participation on the Behaviors of Customersof Sports Services: Linear and Qualitative Comparative Analysis Models

In fitness centers, managers try to know what their customers are looking for in order to create more personalized experiences, as well as to improve their health. This study seeks to understand the influence that sports frequency has on the future behavior of users of a sports center, using two complementary methodologies. A sample of 383 users of a private sports center was used. The two complementary methodologies used were linear models and comparative qualitative analysis, based on the combination of sets. The results show how sports frequency influences the process of creating users’ future behaviors. Considering that none of the variables are necessary, it is observed that perceived value has a significant influence on users’ future behaviors. The use of two complementary methodologies provides a more complete understanding, which helps sports managers to plan and manage effectively to ensure user satisfaction and loyalty. In addition, facilities can incentivize customers through loyalty programs and promotions to maintain their engagement,as well as healthy styles to encourage service recommendations.Ciencias de la Actividad Física y del Deport

    Residents’ Perception of the Impact of Sports Tourism on Sustainable Social Development

    The analysis of the social perception of citizens and evaluations of the impact of sport tourism and their support for tourism development can be of great use in the formulation of policies aimed at social cohesion and local development. These actions favor social participation and inclu‐ sion, equal opportunities, and more positive attitudes towards sports tourism and inclusive sport. This study aims to analyze the perception and predisposition towards the support of citizens on the impact of sport tourism from a multidimensional perspective. Specifically, this study evaluates the social perception on four measures: social impact, cultural impact, environmental impact, and local policies. The sample of this study is composed of 607 people living in Gran Canaria. A survey with two scales were used, one on the perception of the social, cultural, environmental, economic, and political–administrative impact and the other was on the predisposition to support the development of sport tourism from the perspective of sustainable and inclusive social development. Using the partial least square methodology, the results show that all the study variables were significant ex‐ cept for social impact. It is concluded that there is a favorable social perception towards sport tour‐ ism. The results of this study might have a effect on the planning of the tourism sector in Gran Canaria as well as on the policies and regulations governing this activity.Ciencias de la Actividad Física y del Deport

    Relación entre la actividad física, los hábitos alimentarios y el consumo y actitud hacia las drogas en un instituto valenciano

    El presente estudio tiene como objetivo conocer el interés por la actividad física y la práctica deportiva de 224 (111 chicos y 113 chicas) alumnos de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria y Bachillerato en un instituto de la ciudad de Valencia, así como relacionar dichos hábitos con la alimentación y el consumo de drogas. Para realizar el estudio se utilizó un cuestionario de elaboración propia, formado por veintitrés ítems de los cuales se extrajeron los resultados. Los resultados mostraron que los adolescentes estudiados tienen, en general, buenos hábitos deportivos aunque obtienen peores valores en los hábitos de consumo de sustancias o tiempo dedicado a las nuevas tecnologías. En lo que se refiere a la relación de los distintos hábitos, se han encontrado diferencias significativas en función del sexo y el ciclo educativo en algunas de las variables, pero no en función de la realización de práctica deportiva.The present study aims to meet the interest in physical activity and sports of 224 students (111 boys and 113 girls) from a high school in the city of Valencia, as well as to relate these habits with food and drug use. For the study used a questionnaire, composed of twenty-three items of which the statistical results were obtained. The results showed that studied teenagers have, in general, good sports habits although they get worst values in the consumption habits of substances or time dedicated to new technologies. In what it refers to the relationship of the different habits, found significant differences based on sex and the educational cycle in some variables, but not on the sport practice.Educació

    De los diferentes modelos que se encuentran en la literatura, existe un consenso en identificar la satisfacción como una variable que tiene relación directa sobre las intenciones futuras de los usuarios. En este trabajo se relaciona la satisfacción de los espectadores de un evento de baloncesto con el día y la hora a la que prefieren se programen los partidos, así como la relación con las intenciones de seguir asistiendo como espectadores. El objetivo de este trabajo es identificar el grado de satisfacción de los espectadores con la programación de los partidos y su relación con las intenciones futuras.There is a consensus in the literature identifying satisfaction as a variable directly related on the future intentions of users.     Análisis de los efectos de la educación emprendedora en deporte ¿El género es un condicionante?

    Debido a las altas tasas de desempleo juvenil en España, y a que el deporte es un sector que se encuentra en crecimiento, se deben de buscar fórmulas para fomentar el emprendimiento y así mejorar la empleabilidad de los futuros graduados del sector deportivo. Sin embargo, pese a que poco a poco está aumentando el número de emprendedores, todavía existe una brecha de género entre el número de hombres y mujeres emprendedoras. Por consiguiente, el objetivo de este estudio es analizar si la educación emprendedora deportiva tiene un efecto diferente en los estudiantes en función del género de éstos. Para ello, se ha analizado una muestra de 45 estudiantes de Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte de la Universidad de Valencia que se encontraban realizando un curso de gestión deportiva y emprendimiento. Se realizó un diseño longitudinal, con un pre-test y un post-test, utilizando un cuestionario para medir dichos efectos. Los resultados muestran que la educación emprendedora tuvo diferente impacto en función del género de los estudiantes, a pesar que ambos mejoraron en la percepción del clima universitarios hacia el emprendimiento, los hombres mejoraron significativamente su control del comportamiento percibido mientras que las mujeres mejoraron su percepción de las habilidades emprendedoras. Finalmente, se proponen una serie de implicaciones prácticas a la hora de realizar políticas de educación deportiva desde la universidad para el fomento del emprendimiento deportivo tanto en estudiantes de género masculino como femenino

    Can regional culture values affect the entrepreneurial intentions of Sport Science students? An analysis of two Spanish regions

    Entrepreneurship is a key factor in fostering the development of the countries and regions economies. The regional culture is an aspect that can affect the entrepreneurial intentions of university students and it has not been investigated in students of the sport sector. Therefore, the aims of this study are to know if there are differences between the entrepreneurial intentions and their different entrepreneurial variables among students of Sport Sciences (SS) of two Spanish universities of different regions (Valencia and Sevilla), and to know if the predictive variables of the entrepreneurial intentions of these students are different. Thus, a survey has been administered to 172 Sport Sciences (SS) students from the last course of Valencia and Sevilla. The results show that there are statistically significant (p <.05) differences between the Sport Science students from Valencia and Sevilla in the variables of perceived control behaviour, subjective norm and attitude toward behaviour. As for the predictor variables of the entrepreneurial intensions also differences were found, being in the case of the Valencia´ students the attitude towards the behaviour the only predictive variable. In the case of the Sevilla´ students all the cognitive variables related to the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), as well as proactivity were predictive variables of the entrepreneurial intentions. These results are discussed, highlighting the influence of the regional culture on the entrepreneurial intentions of these students. Finally, it concludes that the culture plays an important role in the entrepreneurial intentions of Sport Sciences students and a series of practical implications for the sports politicians and governors of the different universities are presented.Ciencias de la Actividad Física y del Deport

    La influencia del género y de la formación académica en la intención de emprender de los estudiantes de ciencias de la actividad física y el deporte

    Objeto: El objetivo del presente artículo es conocer si existen diferencias en las variables que explican la intención de emprender de los estudiantes universitarios de Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte atendiendo a la formación y al género de éstos. Diseño/metodología: Para conocer las intenciones de emprender y las distintas variables relacionadas con el emprendimiento se utilizó un cuestionario previamente validado. Éste fue administrado a 578 estudiantes pre-graduados (1er - 4º curso) y post-graduados de Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte de Valencia. Aportaciones y resultados: Se encontraron diferencias significativas (p≤0.05) en las variables que predicen la intención de emprender según género y formación de los estudiantes. En ambos géneros la actitud y el control percibido resultaron ser las variables predictoras de la intención de emprender, y en los hombres también la norma subjetiva. Limitaciones: La muestra de estudiantes sólo pertenece a la titulación de Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte de Valencia, por lo que los resultados no son extrapolables a toda la población de estudiantes. Implicaciones prácticas: Para favorecer el espíritu emprendedor y de esta manera formar graduados más preparados para su inserción en el mundo laboral se deben crear programas que fomenten la actitud hacia la conducta del emprendimiento y el control del comportamiento percibido. Implicaciones sociales: Aumentar el número de emprendedores en el sector deportivo, reduciendo la brecha de género, así como mejorar la calidad del emprendimiento, ya que éste es un aspecto clave debido al impacto positivo que este fenómeno genera sobre la economía. Valor añadido: Conocer si existen diferencias en función de la formación y el género debido a la masiva incorporación de la mujer al mundo laboral deportivo y su baja intención de emprender, con el objetivo de formar tanto a graduados como graduadas con habilidades emprendedoras.Purpose: The objective of this article is to know if there are differences in the variables that explain the entrepreneurial intention of the Physical Activity and Sport Science students addressing academic training and gender of them. Design/methodology/approach: To know entrepreneurial intentions and the different variables related to entrepreneurship, a questionnaire previously validated was used. The questionnaire was provided to 578 students pre-graduated (1st-4th course) and post-graduate of Physical Activity and Sport Science degree of Valencia. Findings: Statistically significant differences (p ≤ 0.05) in the variables that predict entrepreneurial intention of Physical Activity and Sport Science students by gender and training were found. In both genders, the attitude towards entrepreneurship and the perceived behavior control were the predictors of entrepreneurial intentions and in men also the subjective norms. Research limitations/implications: The students sample belongs only to the Physical Activity and Sport Science degree of Valencia, so the results cannot be extrapolated to the entire population. Practical implications: It should be developing the attitude toward the behavior of entrepreneurship and perceived behavioral control to promote entrepreneurship. In this way, the graduates will be more prepare for insertion into the working world. Social implications: To increase the number of entrepreneurs (male and female) in the sports sector throughout the education, reducing the gender gap in entrepreneurship and improve the quality of entrepreneurship, as this is a key issue because of the positive impact that this phenomenon generates on the economy Originality/value: It is interesting to know the predictor variables of entrepreneurial intentions, and to know if there are differences based on education and gender due to the massive entry of women into the sport workplaces and low intention to undertake of the.     All-cause mortality in the cohorts of the Spanish AIDS Research Network (RIS) compared with the general population: 1997Ł2010

    Abstract Background: Combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) has produced significant changes in mortality of HIVinfected persons. Our objective was to estimate mortality rates, standardized mortality ratios and excess mortality rates of cohorts of the AIDS Research Network (RIS) (CoRIS-MD and CoRIS) compared to the general population. Methods: We analysed data of CoRIS-MD and CoRIS cohorts from 1997 to 2010. We calculated: (i) all-cause mortality rates, (ii) standardized mortality ratio (SMR) and (iii) excess mortality rates for both cohort for 100 personyears (py) of follow-up, comparing all-cause mortality with that of the general population of similar age and gender. Results: Between 1997 and 2010, 8,214 HIV positive subjects were included, 2,453 (29.9%) in CoRIS-MD and 5,761 (70.1%) in CoRIS and 294 deaths were registered. All-cause mortality rate was 1.02 (95% CI 0.91-1.15) per 100 py, SMR was 6.8 (95% CI 5.9-7.9) and excess mortality rate was 0.8 (95% CI 0.7-0.9) per 100 py. Mortality was higher in patients with AIDS, hepatitis C virus (HCV) co-infection, and those from CoRIS-MD cohort (1997. Conclusion: Mortality among HIV-positive persons remains higher than that of the general population of similar age and sex, with significant differences depending on the history of AIDS or HCV coinfection

    La calidad de servicio y la satisfacción de los usuarios de servicios deportivos se constituyen como elementos importantes para la gestión de centros deportivos. Este trabajo presenta el análisis de la satisfacción y la calidad percibida de los espectadores de un evento deportivo puntual, el Campeonato del Mundo de atletismo en pista cubierta celebrado en Valencia. Se analiza una muestra de 666 espectadores. Para ello se utiliza un cuestionario autoadministrado con una escala de calidad de servicio basada en el modelo tridimensional que ha mostrado buenos índices de fiabilidad. Los resultados indican una alta valoración de la calidad percibida y la satisfacción de los espectadores del mundial. Estos resultados ayudan a la compresión de los eventos deportivos y deben permitir implementar estrategias de gestión que mejoren la calidad ofrecida en los eventos deportivos.The sevice quality and the satisfaction of the users of sport services are constituted like important elements for the management of sport centers. This work presents/displays the analysis of the satisfaction and the perceived quality of the spectators of an precise sport event, the Championship of the World of athletics indoor celebrated in Valencia. A sample of 666 spectators is analyzed. For it a questionnaire autoadministrado with a scale of service quality on watch based on the three-dimensional model is used that has shown good reliability indices. The results indicate a high valuation of the perceived quality and the satisfaction of the spectators of the competition.     La calidad percibida de los espectadores de eventos deportivos, el caso de una reunión internacional de atletimo

    El trabajo presenta el análisis de la calidad percibida de los espectadores de un even- to puntual como es una Reunión Internacional de Atletismo (RIA). Se estudia una muestra de 685 sujetos de los aproximadamente 3500 asistentes al evento. Para la obtención de los datos se utilizó un cuestionario adaptado para el evento compuesto por seis área. Dicha herramienta fue administrada en la gradas de la instalación, durante los últimos momentos de la competición y tras haber concluido la misma. La calidad percibida por los espectadores del evento es elevada y se muestran satisfechos con el servicio recibido. No se hallaron diferencias estadísticamente significativas en función de la edad, el género y la práctica deportiva, pero si en función del grado de asistencia a eventos deportivos. Estos resultados ayudan a la compresión de los even- tos deportivos y en consecuencia deben de permitir implementar estrategias de gestión que mejoren la calidad de los servicios ofrecidos.This work presents the analysis of the perceived quality of the punctual event specta- tors like the Athletic International Meeting. It studies a sample of 685 subjects of about 3500 assistants at the event. To obtain the data, an adapted questionnaire was used for the even compound by six areas, this tool was given to the terraces of the installa- tion during the end of the competition and when it was finished. The perceived qua- lity by the event spectators is high and they feel satisfied by the received service. There weren’t found significant statistic differences because of the age, gender and the sport practice, but there were found them by the grade of assistance to the sports events. There results help to understand the sports events and as a result they could allow to obtain systems of management that improve the quality of the offered services.Ciencias de la Actividad Física y del Deport
