Expanding borders of communication and collaboration through the network: digital competence as a means to promote academic interculturality

Las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación han permitido el establecimiento de espacios virtuales que modifican el modo de interacción social. En este trabajo se analiza la percepción de los futuros docentes del grado de Educación Infantil sobre el uso de redes digitales para fomentar la interculturalidad académica. Se ha utilizado una metodología cuantitativa, basada en la aplicación de un cuestionario construido ad hoc. Entre los resultados se resalta principalmente el uso social que los estudiantes hacen de las redes digitales por encima del académico para la comunicación y colaboración entre iguales. Bullying among Teens: Are Ethnicity and Race Risk Factors for Victimization? A Bibliometric Research

Bullying is a problematic situation that negatively affects thousands of children and adolescents in today’s world. The multicultural society resulting from globalization has caused different reactions throughout society. In the school context, some authors indicate that ethnicity and race are risk factors for being victims of bullying. Therefore, the purpose of this paper was to analyze the scientific production on racial or ethnic bullying with the greatest impact at present, considering nine variables: Publication date, authors, organizations, countries, journals, type of document, area of research, language, and reference with more impact (cites). We conducted a bibliometric study through systematic review, documentary quantification, and data visualization techniques. We analyzed 831 documents, with a notable increase in recent years (2011–2019), highlighting the production from Dewey Cornell (University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, USA). On the other hand, the results showed that ethnic identity constitutes a differential factor in harassment appearing, accompanied by very poor socio-economic and cultural levels favoring depressive tendencies and drug consumption in the ethnic harassed. In short, bullying has a negative impact both physically and psychologically on the victims. Studying the Hall-Petch effect regarding sub-micrometer steel (0.6% C)

Este trabajo describe la obtención y caracterización mecánica de una aleación de acero 0,6% C con estructura de tamaño de grano inferior a 1 μm. El proceso para la obtención de piezas masivas se inicia sometiendo el polvo a severa deformación plástica en un molino planetario de bolas y a continuación se realiza la consolidación a alta presión y temperaturas entre 350 y 500 °C. El estudio de la evolución del tamaño de grano muestra que los consolidados sin tratamiento térmico posterior conservan su estructura en el rango nanométrico. En muestras con tratamiento térmico se observa un crecimiento controlado debido a los numerosos puntos de nucleación y la presencia de precipitados de cementita. Los resultados de dureza y tamaño de grano obtenidos cumplen la relación de Hall -Petch. Finalmente se analiza la influencia de las técnicas de obtención y de caracterización mecánica empleadas en este trabajo frente a diferentes fuentes bibliográficas.Postprint (published version

Application of Robot Programming to the Teaching of Object-Oriented Computer Languages

Object-oriented programming (OOP) abstract concepts are often difficult to understand for students, since it is not easy to find the equivalence of such concepts in daily life. In this paper we will study if an interdisciplinary approach based on an introduction to robotics and robot programming helps the student in acquiring theOOPconcepts. For our experiments, we selected a sample of thirty individuals among students with an adequate knowledge of procedural programming. This sample was divided into two groups of fifteen students each: for the first one we used a standard introductory approach to C#, whereas for the second one we developed an experimental course that included a demonstration program that illustrated OOP basic concepts using the features of a specific type of commercial ball-shaped robot with sensing, wireless communication and output capabilities. After the courses, both groups were evaluated by completing a multiple-choice exam and aC#programming exercise. Our results show that the student group that attended the course including the robot demo showed a higher interest level (i.e. they felt more motivated) than those students that attended the standard introductory C# course. Furthermore, the students from the experimental group also achieved an overall better mark
