Impact of activation cross-section uncertainties on the tritium production in the HFTM specimen cells
The prediction of the tritium production is required for handling procedures of samples, safety & maintenance and licensing of the International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility (IFMIF). A comparison of the evaluated tritium production cross-sections with available experimental data from the EXFOR data base has shown insufficient validation. And significant discrepancies in evaluated cross-section libraries, including lack of tritium production reactions for some important elements, were found.
Here, we have addressed an uncertainty analysis to draw conclusions on the reliability of the tritium prediction under the potential impact of activation cross-section uncertainties. We conclude that there is not sufficient experimental validation of the evaluated tritium production cross-sections, especially for iron and sodium. Therefore a dedicated experimental validation program for those elements should be desirable
Understanding Charge Transfer in Donor-Acceptor/Metal Systems: A Combined Theoretical and Experimental Study
We develop an effective potential approach for assessing the flow of charge
within a two-dimensional donor-acceptor/metal network based on core-level
shifts. To do so, we perform both density functional theory (DFT) calculations
and x-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) measurements of the core-level
shifts for three different monolayers adsorbed on a Ag substrate. Specifically,
we consider perfluorinated pentacene (PFP), copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) and
their 1:1 mixture (PFP+CuPc) adsorbed on Ag(111).Comment: 12 pages, 10 figure
Microsolvation of NO3 -: Structural exploration and bonding analysis
Exploration of the potential energy surfaces (PESs) of various microsolvated species associated with the microsolvation of the nitrate anion using density functional theory methods uncovers a rich and complex structural diversity previously unnoticed in the scientific literature for the [NO3(H2O)n]−, n = 1–6 clusters. Two types of interactions are at play in stabilizing the clusters: traditional water to water and charge assisted nitrate to water hydrogen bonds (HBs). The formal negative charge on oxygen atoms in nitrate strengthens hydrogen bonding among water molecules. There is outstanding agreement between available experimental data (sequential hydration enthalpies, IR spectra, and vertical detachment energies) and the corresponding expectation values obtained from our structures. Each PES is heavily populated in the vicinities of the corresponding global minimum with multiple structures contributing to the experimental properties. The last two statements, in conjunction with results from other works (see for example Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys. 2014, 16, 19241) place a warning on the generalized and naive practice of assigning experimental observations to individual structures
Isotopic prediction calculation methodologies: application to Vandellos-II Reactor cycles 7-11
Determining as accurate as possible spent nuclear fuel isotopic content is gaining importance due to its safety and economic implications. Since nowadays higher burn ups are achievable through increasing initial enrichments, more efficient burn up strategies within the reactor cores and the extension of the irradiation periods, establishing and improving computation methodologies is mandatory in order to carry out reliable criticality and isotopic prediction calculations. Several codes (WIMSD5, SERPENT 1.1.7, SCALE 6.0, MONTEBURNS 2.0 and MCNP-ACAB) and methodologies are tested here and compared to consolidated benchmarks (OECD/NEA pin cell moderated with light water) with the purpose of validating them and reviewing the state of the isotopic prediction capabilities. These preliminary comparisons will suggest what can be generally expected of these codes when applied to real problems. In the present paper, SCALE 6.0 and MONTEBURNS 2.0 are used to model the same reported geometries, material compositions and burn up history of the Spanish Van de llós II reactor cycles 7-11 and to reproduce measured isotopies after irradiation and decay times. We analyze comparisons between measurements and each code results for several grades of geometrical modelization detail, using different libraries and cross-section treatment methodologies. The power and flux normalization method implemented in MONTEBURNS 2.0 is discussed and a new normalization strategy is developed to deal with the selected and similar problems, further options are included to reproduce temperature distributions of the materials within the fuel assemblies and it is introduced a new code to automate series of simulations and manage material information between them. In order to have a realistic confidence level in the prediction of spent fuel isotopic content, we have estimated uncertainties using our MCNP-ACAB system. This depletion code, which combines the neutron transport code MCNP and the inventory code ACAB, propagates the uncertainties in the nuclide inventory assessing the potential impact of uncertainties in the basic nuclear data: cross-section, decay data and fission yield
TRUFA: A user-friendly web server for de novo RNA-seq analysis using cluster computing.
Application of next-generation sequencing (NGS) methods for transcriptome analysis (RNA-seq) has become increasingly accessible in recent years and are of great interest to many biological disciplines including, eg, evolutionary biology, ecology, biomedicine, and computational biology. Although virtually any research group can now obtain RNA-seq data, only a few have the bioinformatics knowledge and computation facilities required for transcriptome analysis. Here, we present TRUFA (TRanscriptome User-Friendly Analysis), an open informatics platform offering a web-based interface that generates the outputs commonly used in de novo RNA-seq analysis and comparative transcriptomics. TRUFA provides a comprehensive service that allows performing dynamically raw read cleaning, transcript assembly, annotation, and expression quantification. Due to the computationally intensive nature of such analyses, TRUFA is highly parallelized and benefits from accessing high-performance computing resources. The complete TRUFA pipeline was validated using four previously published transcriptomic data sets. TRUFA's results for the example datasets showed globally similar results when comparing with the original studies, and performed particularly better when analyzing the green tea dataset. The platform permits analyzing RNA-seq data in a fast, robust, and user-friendly manner. Accounts on TRUFA are provided freely upon request at https://trufa.ifca.es
Relationship between Determinants of Health, Equity, and Dimensions of Health Literacy in Patients with Cardiovascular Disease
Background: Health literacy (HL) has been linked to empowerment, use of health services, and equity. Evaluating HL in people with cardiovascular health problems would facilitate the development of suitable health strategies care and reduce inequity. Aim: To investigate the relationship between different dimensions that make up HL and social determinants in patients with cardiovascular disease. Methods: Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study in patients with cardiovascular disease, aged 50-85 years, accessing primary care services in Valencia (Spain) in 2018-2019. The Health Literacy Questionnaire was used. Results: 252 patients. Age was significantly related with the ability to participate with healthcare providers (p = 0.043), ability to find information (p = 0.022), and understanding information correctly to know what to do (p = 0.046). Level of education was significant for all HL dimensions. Patients without studies scored lower in all dimensions. The low- versus middle-class social relationship showed significant results in all dimensions. Conclusions: In patients with cardiovascular disease, level of education and social class were social determinants associated with HL scores. Whilst interventions at individual level might address some HL deficits, inequities in access to cardiovascular care and health outcomes would remain unjustly balanced unless structural determinants of HL are taken into account

RFC 9303 Locator/ID Separation Protocol Security (LISP-SEC)
IETFThis memo specifies Locator/ID Separation Protocol Security (LISP-SEC), a set of security mechanisms that provides origin authentication, integrity, and anti-replay protection to the LISP's Endpoint-ID-to-Routing-Locator (EID-to-RLOC) mapping data conveyed via the mapping lookup process. LISP-SEC also enables verification of authorization on EID-Prefix claims in Map-Reply messages
