Modeling the Monotonic and Cyclic Viscoplastic Soil Behavior
We describe a class of viscoplastic constitutive models capable of simulating the monotonic and cyclic rate-dependent soil behavior. These models are developed by enriching their inviscid counterparts with a viscous character to model the irreversible deformation that develops with time. The viscoplastic strain rate is of the Duvaut-Lions type whose magnitude increases with the distance of the stress point from its projection onto the inviscid solution. With appropriate choice of an inviscid elasto-plastic soil model, one can generate quasipreconsolidation effects during creep and account for the influence of frequency on the shape and width of hysteresis loops formed during cyclic loading
The expulsion of the Moors from Kingdom of Valencia (1609) led to the exile of more than a third of the Valencian population. This paper analyzes, an Ethnopoetic perspective, the dialogue between the historical facts and the popular narrative cycle about the Valencian Moors, founded on a specific repertoire of legends. It deals with five thematic aspects: hidden treasures, pirate attacks, interfaith loves, returning Moors and enchanted Moorish women
This article studies the presence of literature in Revista de Catalunya between 1924 and 1931. The book reviews published into «Cròniques Catalanes»
section define this presence, ans also represent Revista de Catalunyas stance as regards to cultural change occurred in country since Primo de Rivera dictatorship. Domènec Guansé was the outstanding contributor, not only for giving

Ethnopoetic research in universities and digital archives: The Canpop database
This article discusses data, analysis and ideas that have come out of the Canpop project at the University of Alacant. The project has combined ethnopoetic research and university teaching to set up an on-line digital archive comprising the lyrics and audio recordings of 2342 folk songs. The Canpop project has one clear and simple aim: to create a virtual domain in which people can share and distribute not only a collection of folk songs but also the audio recordings of the songs being performed (their ethnopoetic acts). The project has been underway for six years so far, and the results indicate that the resource is useful for raising awareness of our ethnopoetic heritage, and for training teachers and linguists in our universities working in the fields of educational research, dialectological documentation, creating teaching materials, raising awareness of our ethnopoetic heritage, comparative literature, corpus linguistics and, most clearly, oral folk literature. So, the results of the Canpop project suggest a new direction for the management of on-line digital archives, particularly in the field of ethnopoetic university research. This article is a product of a line of research on Catalan folk literature funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness through the research and development project FFI2015-64128-P (MINECO/FEDER)
If we care to look behind a laugh or smile there is always a tragedy. In fact, humour is based in failure and is a strategy particular to humans for overcoming or sublimating life’s inclemencies. Thus we invent and tell jokes that betray the weakness of political and religious institutions that are supposed to confer us a certain social dignity; we laugh at the vulnerability of the human body, we make fun of things that remind us that we are after all just animals, and mortal ones at that. Indeed, we only have to think of the inexhaustible mine of scatological and sexual stories, of the amusing things that bring out anthropomorphic gestures in animals, of the black humour surrounding the circumstances and rituals of death, of the instinctive laughter caused by watching an accident that has been caught on video camera, etc. Naturally, languages are also a source of laughter and calamities; when language stumbles, that is, when words fail, it not only draws attention to the presumptuous dignity of humans, but also highlights the dramatic limitations that restrict the way we communicate and perceive the world. In the final analysis, the failure of language is the failure of the human soul, naked, orphaned, isolated and terribly alone in the face of the complexities of existence. In this paper we offer some analytical reflections regarding the underlying humour in different popular stories that have traditionally been catalogued as type ATU 1699 (Misunderstanding Because of Ignorance of a Foreign Language) to see if we can distinguish certain subtypes among them
