    Chemins de vie. Dix-neuf visages et paroles de migrant-e-s, 1956-2012

    Dix-neuf entretiens avec des migrant-e-s ont été réalisés et analysés par des étudiant-e-s du Master d’histoire moderne et contemporaine des Universités Lyon 2 et Lyon 3.Ces migrant-e-s appartiennent à diverses générations (le plus âgé, Ferdinand Gonzalez, est née en 1935 et la plus jeune, Anaïs Quenette, en 1995) et sont d’origines géographiques variées (Europe, Afrique du Nord et subsaharienne, Amérique latine…). Ce sont des femmes et hommes qui ont émigré en France pour des raisons de travail, mais aussi pour suivre leurs parents, rejoindre un-e conjoint-e ou simplement pour faire des études supérieures. Certain-e-s ont demandé leur naturalisation, d’autres pas.Le fil rouge qui a été choisi pour structurer les entretiens est celui de « l’insertion » envisagée sous diverses facettes : le départ et les réactions de l’entourage, les représentations liées à la France, mais aussi les réactions des Françaises face à l’Autre, l’insertion sur le marché du travail, l’apprentissage de la langue, le logement comme les différents réseaux tissés dans l’exil, les différentes identités induites et bousculées par la migration.Le volume est organisé en deux parties. La première est l’analyse des entretiens en six grandes thématiques. La deuxième partie regroupe la retranscription intégrale des entretiens menés, qui sont classés par ordre alphabétique des noms de famille, qui peuvent être des pseudonymes. Les retranscriptions sont précédées de quelques lignes méthodologiques sur les conditions de l’entretien

    A MALDI-TOF MS database for fast identification of Vibrio spp. potentially pathogenic to marine mollusks

    In mollusk aquaculture, a large number of Vibrio species are considered major pathogens. Conventional methods based on DNA amplification and sequencing used to accurately identify Vibrio species are unsuitable for monitoring programs because they are time-consuming and expensive. The aim of this study was, therefore, to develop the MALDI-TOF MS method in order to establish a rapid identification technique for a large panel of Vibrio species. We created the EnviBase containing 120 main spectra projections (MSP) of the Vibrio species that are potentially responsible for mollusk diseases, comprising 25 species: V. aestuarianus, V. cortegadensis, V. tapetis and species belonging to the Coralliilyticus, Harveyi, Mediterranei, and Orientalis clades. Each MSP was constructed by the merger of raw spectra obtained from three different media and generated by three collaborating laboratories to increase the diversity of the conditions and thus obtain a good technique robustness. Perfect discrimination was obtained with all of the MSP created for the Vibrio species and even for very closely related species as V. europaeus and V. bivalvicida. The new EnviBase library was validated through a blind test on 100 Vibrio strains performed by our three collaborators who used the direct transfer and protein extraction methods. The majority of the Vibrio strains were successfully identified with the newly created EnviBase by the three laboratories for both protocol methods. This study documents the first development of a freely accessible database exclusively devoted to Vibrio found in marine environments, taking into account the high diversity of this genus

    A series of novel derivatives exhibiting high affinity and selectivity towards the COX-2 enzyme in the (aza) indazole series was developed. A short synthetic route involving a bromination/arylation sequence under microwave irradiation and direct C–H activation were established in the indazole and azaindazole series respectively. In vitro assays were conducted and structural modifications were carried out on these scaffolds to furnish compound 16 which exhibited effective COX-2 inhibitory activity, with IC50 values of 0.409 µM and an excellent selectivity versus COX-1. Radiolabeling of this most potent derivative [18F]16 was achieved after boron ester release and the tracer was evaluated in vivo in a rat model of neuroinflammation.     Maternal obesity increases hypothalamic miR-505-5p expression in mouse offspring leading to altered fatty acid sensing and increased intake of high-fat food

    In utero exposure to maternal obesity programs increased obesity risk. Animal models show that programmed offspring obesity is preceded by hyperphagia, but the mechanisms that mediate these changes are unknown. Using a mouse model of maternal obesity, we observed increased intake of a high-fat diet (HFD) in offspring of obese mothers that precedes the development of obesity. Through small RNA sequencing, we identified programmed overexpression of hypothalamic miR-505-5p that is established in the fetus, lasts to adulthood and is maintained in hypothalamic neural progenitor cells cultured in vitro. Metabolic hormones and long-chain fatty acids associated with obesity increase miR-505-5p expression in hypothalamic neurons in vitro. We demonstrate that targets of miR-505-5p are enriched in fatty acid metabolism pathways and overexpression of miR-505-5p decreased neuronal fatty acid metabolism in vitro. miR-505-5p targets are associated with increased BMI in human genetic studies. Intra-cerebroventricular injection of miR-505-5p in wild-type mice increased HFD intake, mimicking the phenotype observed in offspring exposed to maternal obesity. Conversely, maternal exercise intervention in an obese mouse pregnancy rescued the programmed increase of hypothalamic miR-505-5p in offspring of obese dams and reduced HFD intake to control offspring levels. This study identifies a novel mechanism by which maternal obesity programs obesity in offspring via increased intake of high-fat foods. [Abstract copyright: Copyright: © 2024 Dearden et al.     A Taxonomically-verified and Vouchered Checklist of the Vascular Plants of the Republic of Guinea

    Abstract The Checklist of the Vascular Plants of the Republic of Guinea (CVPRG) is a specimen-based, expert-validated knowledge product, which provides a concise synthesis and overview of current knowledge on 3901 vascular plant species documented from Guinea (Conakry), West Africa, including their accepted names and synonyms, as well as their distribution and status within Guinea (indigenous or introduced, endemic or not). The CVPRG is generated automatically from the Guinea Collections Database and the Guinea Names Backbone Database, both developed and maintained at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, in collaboration with the staff of the National Herbarium of Guinea. A total of 3505 indigenous vascular plant species are reported of which 3328 are flowering plants (angiosperms); this represents a 26% increase in known indigenous angiosperms since the last floristic overview. Intended as a reference for scientists documenting the diversity and distribution of the Guinea flora, the CVPRG will also inform those seeking to safeguard the rich plant diversity of Guinea and the societal, ecological and economic benefits accruing from these biological resources
