Long Way Home the Life History of Chinese-Indonesian Migrants in the Netherlands
The purpose of this paper is to trace the modern history of Indonesia through the experience of two Chinese Indonesians who migrated to the Netherlands at different periods of time. These life stories represent both post-colonial experiences and the Cold War politics in Indonesia. The migration of Chinese Indonesians since the beginning of the twentieth century has had long history, however, most of the previous literature has focused on the experiences of the “Peranakan” group who are not representative of various other groups of Chinese Indonesian migrants who have had different experiences in making their journey to the Netherlands. This paper will present two stories as a parallel to the more commonly known narratives of the “Peranakan” experience
Fiscal Risk in a Monetary Union
A country entering a monetary union gives up the right to determine its own monetary policy. Individual fiscal authorities promise passive fiscal policy, allowing the central monetary authority to use active monetary policy. Since a government, which can print its own money, can honor its nominal debt unconditionally, entrance into a monetary union raises new issues of potential fiscal insolvency. When there is an upper bound on the magnitude of the surplus and stochastic shocks to the surplus, a government can find itself in a position in which it cannot borrow to continue with its desired passive fiscal policy. This paper considers the risk of a fiscal financial crisis in a monetary union under alternative assumptions about how the fiscal authority would respond. The response affects the timing and probability of a crisis. We consider both outright default and policy switching, whereby the fiscal authority in crisis switches to active fiscal policy and the monetary authority switches to passive monetary policy. We apply the model to estimate fiscal risk in the European Monetary Union. Using panel estimates of the parameters in the surplus rule and initial values for government debt and the primary surplus, we simulate fiscal risk under the two alternative fiscal responses to a crisis. We find that countries with initial values bound by the Maastricht Treaty limits are safe, while countries like Italy and Greece, in which debt has strayed far above these limits, might not be.

The ratification of the Escazu Agreement in Peru is a relevant and discussed issue, as it contains important implications in relation to the protection of the environment and human rights in environmental matters, being formally known as the Regional Agreement on Access to Information, Public Participation and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters in Latin America and the Caribbean. It seeks to promote transparency in the States Parties to provide access to environmental information, ensuring that citizens can obtain relevant data. At the same time, it strengthens the public and active participation of society in the formulation of policies, projects and decisions that affect their environment. Finally, it guarantees that citizens and communities affected by environmental damage have access to legal remedies and effective justice mechanisms, ensuring the protection of their rights, these being some of the reasons that support the need to ratify the Escazú Agreement in Peru. Therefore, it can have a positive impact in terms of its commitment to environmental protection and human rights, enclosing a legal duty of the country to comply with its provisions, which can be subject to debate and consideration by government authorities and Congress, being a significant step towards a more comprehensive and sustainable approach in the management of natural resources and environmental protection. For this purpose, the qualitative method was used, by means of documentary compilation, demonstrating that it did meet the expected results
Ekspresi IFN-Γ oleh Sel T CD4+ dan CD8+ Setelah Stimulasi Antigen Fusi ESAT-6- CFP-10 pada Pasien Tuberkulosis Paru Aktif
Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major global health problem. T-cells mediated immunity contribute to protection from Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells secreted interferon gamma (IFN-γ) to stimulate fusion of phagolyzosome and produce free radicals for killing mycobacteria. Early secretory antigenic target 6 kD(ESAT-6) and culture filtrate protein 10(CFP-10) are dominant M. tuberculosis antigens in inducing IFN-γ. This study compared CD4+ and CD8+T-cells expressing IFN-γ with and without ESAT-6- CFP-10 fusion antigen stimulation in active tuberculosis patients. Peripheral blood mononuclear cellsfrom active TB patients were cultured with and without ESAT-6-CFP-10 fusion antigen. CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells expressing IFN-γ were examined using flow cytometry.CD4+ T-cells expressing IFN-γ after antigen stimulation compare to controls(1.51%±1.7 vs 1.23%±0.86; p=0.08),and CD8+ T-cells (1.58%±0,99 vs 1.92%±1.13; p=0.86).CD4+ and CD8+T-cells expressing IFN-γ after antigen stimulation (1.51%±1.7 vs 1.58%±0,99; p=0.94).There were no significant differences of CD4+ and CD8+T-cells expressing IFN-γ after ESAT-6-CFP-10 fusion antigen stimulation in active pulmonary tuberculosis patients

Low-energy behavior of spin-liquid electron spectral functions
We calculate the electron spectral function for a spin-liquid with a spinon
Fermi surface and a Dirac spin-liquid. Calculations are based upon the
slave-rotor mean-field theory. We consider the effect of gauge fluctuations
using a simple model and find the behavior is not strongly modified. The
results, distinct from conventional Mott insulator or band theory predictions,
suggest that measuring the spectral function e.g. via ARPES could help in the
experimental verification and characterization of spin liquids.Comment: 7 pages, 7 figure
The museum world: Career skills and training for jobs in textile and clothing historic collections
Since the turn of the 20th century, textiles and clothing historic (TCH) collections have inspired designers, helped teach textiles and clothing history classes, and enhanced our understanding of history and different cultures (Queen & Berger, 2007; Sauro, 2009; Marcketti, Fitzpatrick, Keist, & Kadolph, 2011). Recently, museums have begun to hold blockbuster fashion exhibits to increase foot traffic, fundraise, and reach a more diverse audience (Anderson, 2000). In light of this trend and the highly competitive museum field, it is necessary to explore the skills and knowledge that make professionals working in these specific collections successful. Thus, the purpose of this research was to understand the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in TCH collections, where professionals learned those skills and gained that knowledge, how professionals\u27 schooling and formal training prepared them for their careers, how professionals network, and their career paths. Ten TCH collection professionals were interviewed and an internet survey was distributed to the members of Costume Society of America. Both interview and survey results indicated that knowledge of textiles and clothing, museum practices, and liberal arts were crucial to success. Skills emphasized included knowledge of textiles and clothing history, knowledge of textile science, object handling, cataloguing, and having a broad liberal arts background. Professionals advised students to intern extensively, attend conferences, and be very patient when applying for jobs
