The Kohn mode for trapped Bose gases within the dielectric formalism
The presence of undamped harmonic center of mass oscillations of a weakly
interacting Bose gas in a harmonic trap is demonstrated within the dielectric
formalism for a previously introduced finite temperature approximation
including exchange. The consistency of the approximation with the Kohn theorem
is thereby demonstrated. The Kohn modes are found explicitly, generalizing an
earlier zero-temperature result found in the literature. It is shown how the
Kohn mode disappears from the single-particle spectrum, while remaining in the
density oscillation spectrum, when the temperature increases from below to
above the condensation temperature.Comment: 6 pages revte
Alloying, de-alloying and reentrant alloying in (sub-)monolayer growth of Ag on Pt(111)
An in-situ nanoscopic investigation of the prototypical surface alloying
system Ag/Pt(111) is reported. The morphology and the structure of the
ultrathin Ag-Pt film is studied using Low Energy Electron Microscopy during
growth at about 800 K. An amazingly rich dynamic behaviour is uncovered in
which stress relieve plays a governing role. Initial growth leads to surface
alloying with prolonged and retarded nucleation of ad-islands. Beyond 50%
coverage de-alloying proceeds, joined by partial segregation of Pt towards the
centre of large islands in violent processes. Upon coalescence the irregularly
shaped vacancy clusters are filled by segregating Pt, which then take a compact
shape (black spots). As a result at around 85% coverage the strain of the
initially pseudo-morphological film is almost completely relieved and
Pt-segregation is at its maximum. Further deposition of Ag leads to transient
re-entrant alloying and recovery of the pseudo-morphological layer. The black
spots persist even in/on several layers thick films. Ex-situ atomic force
microscopy data confirm that these are constituted by probably amorphous
Pt(-rich) structures. The (sub-)monolayer films are very much heterogeneous
Visualization of steps and surface reconstructions in Helium Ion Microscopy with atomic precision
Helium Ion Microscopy is known for its surface sensitivity and high lateral
resolution. Here, we present results of a Helium Ion Microscopy based
investigation of a surface confined alloy of Ag on Pt(111). Based on a change
of the work function of 25\,meV across the atomically flat terraces we can
distinguish Pt rich from Pt poor areas and visualize the single atomic layer
high steps between the terraces. Furthermore, dechanneling contrast has been
utilized to measure the periodicity of the hcp/fcc pattern formed in the 2--3
layers thick Ag/Pt alloy film. A periodicity of 6.65\,nm along the
surface direction has been measured. In terms of
crystallography a hcp domain is obtained through a lateral displacement of a
part of the outermost layer by of a nearest neighbour spacing
along . This periodicity is measured with atomic
precision: coincidence between the Ag and the Pt lattices is observed for 23 Ag
atoms on 24 Pt atoms. The findings are perfectly in line with results obtained
with Low Energy Electron Microscopy and Phase Contrast Atomic Force Microscopy.Comment: 15 pages, 7 figure
Surface bubble nucleation phase space
Recent research has revealed several different techniques for nanoscopic gas
nucleation on submerged surfaces, with findings seemingly in contradiction with
each other. In response to this, we have systematically investigated the
occurrence of surface nanobubbles on a hydrophobised silicon substrate for
various different liquid temperatures and gas concentrations, which we
controlled independently. We found that nanobubbles occupy a distinct region of
this phase space, occurring for gas concentrations of approximately 100-110%.
Below the nanobubble phase we did not detect any gaseous formations on the
substrate, whereas micropancakes (micron wide, nanometer high gaseous domains)
were found at higher temperatures and gas concentrations. We moreover find that
supersaturation of dissolved gases is not a requirement for nucleation of

Phase diagram of the random field Ising model on the Bethe lattice
The phase diagram of the random field Ising model on the Bethe lattice with a
symmetric dichotomous random field is closely investigated with respect to the
transition between the ferromagnetic and paramagnetic regime. Refining
arguments of Bleher, Ruiz and Zagrebnov [J. Stat. Phys. 93, 33 (1998)] an exact
upper bound for the existence of a unique paramagnetic phase is found which
considerably improves the earlier results. Several numerical estimates of
transition lines between a ferromagnetic and a paramagnetic regime are
presented. The obtained results do not coincide with a lower bound for the
onset of ferromagnetism proposed by Bruinsma [Phys. Rev. B 30, 289 (1984)]. If
the latter one proves correct this would hint to a region of coexistence of

Unusual Complexes of P(CH)3 with FH, ClH, and ClF
© 2020 by the authors.Ab initio MP2/aug’-cc-pVTZ calculations have been performed to determine the structures and binding energies of complexes formed by phosphatetrahedrane, P(CH)3, and HF, HCl, and ClF. Four types of complexes exist on the potential energy surfaces. Isomers A form at the P atom near the end of a P-C bond, B at a C-C bond, C at the centroid of the C-C-C ring along the C3 symmetry axis, and D at the P atom along the C3 symmetry axis. Complexes A and B are stabilized by hydrogen bonds when FH and ClH are the acids, and by halogen bonds when ClF is the acid. In isomers C, the dipole moments of the two monomers are favorably aligned but in D the alignment is unfavorable. For each of the monomers, the binding energies of the complexes decrease in the order A > B > C > D. The most stabilizing Symmetry Adapted Perturbation Theory (SAPT) binding energy component for the A and B isomers is the electrostatic interaction, while the dispersion interaction is the most stabilizing term for C and D. The barriers to converting one isomer to another are significantly higher for the A isomers compared to B. Equation of motion coupled cluster singles and doubles (EOM-CCSD) intermolecular coupling constants J(X-C) are small for both B and C isomers. J(X-P) values are larger and positive in the A isomers, negative in the B isomers, and have their largest positive values in the D isomers. A two-qubit Bell inequality for which POVM measurements are relevant
A bipartite Bell inequality is derived which is maximally violated on the
two-qubit state space if measurements describable by positive operator valued
measure (POVM) elements are allowed rather than restricting the possible
measurements to projective ones. In particular, the presented Bell inequality
requires POVMs in order to be maximally violated by a maximally entangled

Pour caractériser l\'environnement social et écologique du Colobe Vert (Procolobus verus), des observations régulières par tranche de 15 minutes d\'animaux focaux dans trois groupes ont été méné. Les observations et les enregistrements de cris occasionnels (Ad libitum) ont permis de répertorier huit (8) types de cris unitaires émis par différentes classes
de sexes et d\'âges. Ces cris peuvent être regroupés en quatre catégories selon les contextes sociaux dans lesquels ils interviennent : les cris a, b et c en cas de prédation et de trouble (présence de prédateur, cris d\'alarme d\'autres espèces), les cris f et g en situation de conflit (combat entre individus), les cris b, c et e en contexte de stabilité (calme
apparent), et les cris b, c et e pour signaler des rencontres inter-groupes (rencontre avec d\'autres groupes de singes).In order to knod how Olive Colobus monkeys (Procolobus verus) interact with their social and ecological environment, we carried out regular observations by 15 minutes old section of focal animals in three groups. These observations
associated with the recordings of occasional calls (Ad libitum) enabled us to index eight (8) types of unit calls emitted by various sex and age classes. These calls can be gathered into four types according to social contexts in which they happened : the calls a, b and c in context of predation and disturbance (presence of predator, alarm calls from other monkey species), the calls f and g in a situation of conflict (fights between individual), the calls b, c and e as a signal of stability (peaceful context), and the calls b, c and e in case of intergroup encounters (encounter with other monkey groups).
