Astrometry and photometry with HST-WFC3. I. Geometric distortion corrections of F225W, F275W, F336W bands of the UVIS-channel

An accurate geometric distortion solution for the Hubble Space Telescope UVIS-channel of Wide Field Camera 3 is the first step towards its use for high precision astrometry. In this work we present an average correction that enables a relative astrometric accuracy of ~1 mas (in each axis for well exposed stars) in three broad-band ultraviolet filters (F225W, F275W, and F336W). De l'analyse des pratiques rédactionnelles des mémoires d'un master professionnel à l'évaluation de cette analyse.

La production du mémoire professionnel constitue un des enjeux praxéologique et pédagogique de la formation professionnelle à l'université. La mise à jour des pratiques rédactionnelles des mémoires réalisés les années antérieures peut constituer un moyen de perfectionnement de l'activité d'écriture de nouveaux étudiants qui ont encore à s'affirmer dans leur statut d'auteur. Nous prendrons appui sur les activités de formation mises en œuvre en 2006-2007 dans le master professionnel « conseil en développement professionnel » dispensé à l'Université de Toulouse-Le Mirail -France-. Il a été demandé aux 18 étudiants de la promotion actuelle (2007) d'analyser de manière comparative et critique des titres, plans et résumés de mémoires soutenus en 2006. L'évaluation des effets de cette analyse sur les représentations et pratiques discursives des étudiants a ensuite été étudiée. Ces derniers ont été consultés sur le bénéfice qu'ils déclaraient avoir retiré de cette démarche d'objectivation des stratégies d'écriture de leurs pairs

A PSF-based approach to Kepler/K2 data. I. Variability within the K2 Campaign 0 star clusters M 35 and NGC 2158

Kepler and K2 data analysis reported in the literature is mostly based on aperture photometry. Because of Kepler's large, undersampled pixels and the presence of nearby sources, aperture photometry is not always the ideal way to obtain high-precision photometry and, because of this, the data set has not been fully exploited so far. We present a new method that builds on our experience with undersampled HST images. The method involves a point-spread function (PSF) neighbour-subtraction and was specifically developed to exploit the huge potential offered by the K2 "super-stamps" covering the core of dense star clusters. Our test-bed targets were the NGC 2158 and M 35 regions observed during the K2 Campaign 0. We present our PSF modeling and demonstrate that, by using a high-angular-resolution input star list from the Asiago Schmidt telescope as the basis for PSF neighbour subtraction, we are able to reach magnitudes as faint as Kp~24 with a photometric precision of 10% over 6.5 hours, even in the densest regions. At the bright end, our photometric precision reaches ~30 parts-per-million. Our method leads to a considerable level of improvement at the faint magnitudes (Kp>15.5) with respect to the classical aperture photometry. This improvement is more significant in crowded regions. We also extracted raw light curves of ~60,000 stars and detrended them for systematic effects induced by spacecraft motion and other artifacts that harms K2 photometric precision. Universalismo, sujeto y tecnología de comunicación desde Judith Butler : Desestabilizando los marcos de guerra

En el presente trabajo abordaré la relación que establece Judith Butler sobre la concepción, que denominará occidental y masculina, de los conceptos de sujeto y universal y los criterios desde los cuales se censuró o permitió la difusión de las imágenes de la guerra llevada adelante por Estados Unidos contra Irak. En este sentido, intentaré dar cuenta de cómo, según la autora abordada, ciertas concepciones epistemológicas sobre el sujeto y los universales dan lugar a la guerra y también a un modo específico de transmisión de imágenes. An Empirical Pixel-Based Correction for Imperfect CTE. I. HST's Advanced Camera for Surveys

We use an empirical approach to characterize the effect of charge-transfer efficiency (CTE) losses in images taken with the Wide-Field Channel of the Advanced Camera for Surveys. The study is based on profiles of warm pixels in 168 dark exposures taken between September and October 2009. The dark exposures allow us to explore charge traps that affect electrons when the background is extremely low. We develop a model for the readout process that reproduces the observed trails out to 70 pixels. We then invert the model to convert the observed pixel values in an image into an estimate of the original pixel values. We find that when we apply the image-restoration process to science images with a variety of stars on a variety of background levels, it restores flux, position, and shape. This means that the observed trails contain essentially all of the flux lost to inefficient CTE. The Space Telescope Science Institute is currently evaluating this algorithm with the aim of optimizing it and eventually providing enhanced data products. The empirical procedure presented here should also work for other epochs (eg., pre-SM4), though the parameters may have to be recomputed for the time when ACS was operated at a higher temperature than the current -81 C. Passos e descompassos: práticas em saúde mental na perspectiva da integralidade

The study is about the way to put in practice the mental health of the Unified Health System (SUS) in the perspective of the integrality. It is based on the building of the complex thinking by Edgar Morin, for instances, the recursively, dialogue and hologram. For that, initially, it id presented a section: Integrality and mental health in the SUS in light of Morin‟s complexity of health theory, that evaluate deeply the historical aspects of these systems of health, an important change in the model of public health attention in Brazil. Furthermore, is based on the different roots in search of attention‟s integrality, described in the SUS theories, pointing to the possibilities and difficulties in the adequate warranty of the mental health attention. Looking up the trouble practices performed nowadays in the city of Porto Alegre, based on the perspective of the integrality, this research offers a second section named: “Practices in mental health in the SUS: situations in the city of Porto Alegre”. Based on the qualitative approach, it was associated the complex thoughts to the field question perspectives through a discursive practice. Thus, it´s build the theme-field, based on the possibility of inserting on spaces that discuss matters of the area for a period of ten months. Surveyed people entered in spaces that shaped the theme-field and the data were collected through journal field recordings and documents from the public domain. The section includes entries of articulation and developing strategies for confronting the challenges of integrality in the field of health, more specifically in mental health practices, through critical theoretical constructs that show the use of the method as possibility of practice of care in act. The analysis resulted in the visibility not only in the creation acts and innovation in the building of the whole action in mental health, but also in the fragility through this net is exposed, due to diffuse interests, few investments and not articulated social politics.A pesquisa trata das circunstâncias de efetivação das práticas em saúde mental no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) na perspectiva da integralidade. Apóia-se nos operadores do pensamento complexo propostos por Edgar Morin, a saber, a recursividade, a dialogicidade e o holograma. Inicialmente é apresentada a seção: “Integralidade e Saúde Mental no SUS à luz da Teoria da Complexidade de Morin”, que aprofunda teoricamente aspectos da história da construção desse sistema de saúde, uma mudança ousada do modelo de atenção em saúde pública no Brasil. Além disso, trata de seus desdobramentos na busca pela integralidade da atenção, preconizada nos pressupostos do SUS e aponta possibilidades e entraves na garantia adequada da atenção em saúde mental com base em reflexões associadas ao pensamento complexo. Visando a problematização das práticas atuais em saúde mental no Município de Porto Alegre, tendo em vista a perspectiva da integralidade, a pesquisa oferece a segunda seção chamada: “Práticas em saúde mental no SUS: situações do Município de Porto Alegre”. Apoiada em uma abordagem qualitativa, associa o pensamento complexo à perspectiva do campo-tema e à análise da produção de sentidos no cotidiano através das práticas discursivas. Assim, constrói-se o campo-tema, com base na inserção em espaços de interlocução sobre assuntos da área pelo período de dez meses. Participaram da pesquisa pessoas inseridas nos espaços que compuseram o campo-tema e os dados foram coletados através de diário de campo, gravações e documentos de domínio público.A seção contempla movimentos de articulação e elaboração de estratégias de enfrentamento dos desafios da integralidade no campo da saúde, mais especificamente nas práticas de saúde mental, através de construções teórico-críticas que mostram o uso do método como possibilidade de práticas de cuidado em ato. A análise possibilitou a visibilidade não apenas de atos de criação e inovação na construção de ações integradas em saúde mental, como também da fragilidade à que está exposta essa rede, devido a interesses difusos, escassos investimentos e políticas sociais desarticuladas
