Comparison of AIA and FIDIC Construction Contracts with an equivalent Egyptian contract

    Get PDF
Precisely drafting the infrastructure construction contract is a way to ensure the success and continuity of the project without any complications, and through which the rights and duties of each party involved in the project are determined. International standard contract conditions such as FIDIC and AIA contribute significantly to reducing disputes between the parties; yet, due to the absence of a standard construction contract in Egypt, the infrastructure construction industry became more complicated in recent years and contractual commitments are often not carried out in a good faith. This research aims to highlight the major causes of contractual conflicts that may be addressed in infrastructure construction projects and to compare and analyze the Egyptian Construction Contract (ECC), International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC), and American Institute of Architects (AIA) construction contracts for the clauses that cause disputes in the Egyptian infrastructure construction contract in order to improve, develop, and enhance the ECC as well as overcome the obstacles that hinder the development of infrastructure construction projects, leading to an increase in the chances of achieving basic project success indicators (cost, time, quality, and safety)

Modular Approach to Machine Reading Comprehension: Mixture of Task-Aware Experts

In this work we present a Mixture of Task-Aware Experts Network for Machine Reading Comprehension on a relatively small dataset. We particularly focus on the issue of common-sense learning, enforcing the common ground knowledge by specifically training different expert networks to capture different kinds of relationships between each passage, question and choice triplet. Moreover, we take inspi ration on the recent advancements of multitask and transfer learning by training each network a relevant focused task. By making the mixture-of-networks aware of a specific goal by enforcing a task and a relationship, we achieve state-of-the-art results and reduce over-fitting

Autism is a neurological disorder characterized by qualitative impairments in social interaction, qualitative impairments in communication, and restricted repetitive, stereotyped patterns of behavior, interests, and activities. Autistic Spectrum Disorders are relatively common without known etiology can be found in 80-90% of cases. The aim of this study is to recognize the risk factors for Autistic Spectrum Disorders at Assiut City. The study was descriptive research design; it was conducted in all autism centers at Assiut city which includes 7 centers and included 47 parents who agree to participate in this study selected by convenient sample. The study included a structured interview sheet; this sheet divided into two parts Socio demographic characteristics, and parent’s knowledge about risk factors of Autism. The main findings of the study are: male represent a higher prevalence (72.3%) rate of autism than females (27.7%), and autistic children were more prevalent among families living in urban areas (80.9%) than rural (19.1%). The present study clears that (63.8%) of the fathers and 61.7% of the mothers had university level, the majority (85.1%) of autistic parents’ children hadn’t consanguinity degree while only (14.9%) from them had consanguinity from first degree (cousin), the vast majorities (97.9%) of studied children haven’t family history of autism; the present study found that all mothers of studied children hadn't any history of rubella, diabetes, thyroid and infectious diseases while only (4.3%) were exposed to eclampsia. The study recommended that, increase of public awareness about the risk factors of autism and its prevention by community leaders, mass media, and others especially at rural area. The curriculum of medicine and nursing faculties should include the Autistic Spectrum Disorder (risk factors, diagnosis and different treatment methods). Further studies should be conducted and gained a lot of attention for Autistic children and their parents. Key wards: Autism - Autism Spectrum Disorders – Risk factor

MHD Flow of a Micropolar Fluid past a Stretched Permeable Surface with Heat Generation or Absorption

    Get PDF
This work considers steady, laminar, MHD flow of a micropolar fluid past a stretched semi-infinite, vertical and permeable surface in the presence of temperature dependent heat generation or absorption, magnetic field and thermal radiation effects. A set of similarity parameters is employed to convert the governing partial differential equations into ordinary differential equations. The obtained self-similar equations are solved numerically by an efficient implicit, iterative, finite-difference method. The obtained results are checked against previously published work for special cases of the problem in order to access the accuarcy of the numerical method and found to be in excellent agreement. A parametric study illustrating the influence of the various physical parameters on the skin friction coefficient, microrotaion coefficient or wall couple stress as well as the wall heat transfer coefficient or Nusselt number is conducted. The obtained results are presented graphically and in tabular form and the physical aspects of the problem are discussed

Natural Language Processing is one of the fastest growing areas of computer science, spe- cially with the recent evolution of computational processing techniques and equipments. Due to the tremendous amount of exceptions, rules and complexities, the automatic ex- ploration of meaning in textual information is a nontrivial task. Social networks usually add another layer of complexity to the problem, due to the high level of unstructured data available. However, artificial neural networks are usually a great tool to derive meaning from unstructured information. This project intends to explore three different areas on the intersection between Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing. For each area, a different application was built, using a different social network as background. The Sen- timental Analysis model built with IMDB data was superior than the Kaggle benchmark, reaching 86% of accuracy. The model for the question normalization task of Quora, even without pre-established benchmarks, were compared between different vector-comparison strategies. Finally, a chatbot application, using Twitter and public data sets, had inter- esting results, but still far from a human-like model
