Avaliação da amplitude articular do joelho: correlação entre as medidas realizadas com o goniômetro universal e no dinamômetro isocinético
CONTEXTUALIZAÇÃO: O instrumento mais utilizado pelos terapeutas para mensuração da amplitude de movimento (ADM) articular é o goniômetro universal. No entanto, há carência de estudos que analisem a confiabilidade das medidas da ADM do joelho realizadas no dinamômetro isocinético. OBJETIVO: O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar a correlação entre as medidas de ADM na articulação do joelho, realizadas com o goniômetro universal e no dinamômetro isocinético. MÉTODO: Foram avaliados 38 voluntários saudáveis (27 mulheres, 11 homens), com idade de 36 ± 11 anos, com limitação mÃnima de 20° na ADM de extensão do joelho. No membro dominante de cada sujeito foram realizadas três mensurações da ADM do joelho com o goniômetro e três mensurações no dinamômetro. RESULTADOS: Os resultados deste estudo mostraram que há alto grau de correlação entre as medidas da ADM do joelho obtidas com o goniômetro universal e no dinamômetro isocinético (Coeficiente de Correlação de Pearson = 0,90). CONCLUSÃO: Com os procedimentos realizados, tanto o goniômetro universal como o dinamômetro isocinético podem ser utilizados para avaliação da ADM do joelho, pois ambos apresentam mensurações confiáveis.<br>BACKGROUND: The instrument most often used by therapists for measuring joint range of motion (ROM) is the universal goniometer. However, there is a lack of studies analyzing the reliability of knee joint ROM measured by the isokinetic dynamometer. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between the knee joint ROM measurements made using a universal goniometer and an isokinetic dynamometer. METHOD: 38 healthy volunteers (27 women, 11 men) aged 36 ± 11 years were evaluated. All of them had a minimum knee extension ROM limitation of 20°. Three knee ROM measurements were made using the universal goniometer and another three using the isokinetic dynamometer, on each subject's dominant limb. RESULTS: The results showed a high degree of correlation between the knee ROM measurements made using the two instruments (Pearson correlation coefficient = 0.90). CONCLUSION: From the procedures performed, both the universal goniometer and the isokinetic dynamometer can be used to evaluate knee ROM, since they both present reliable measurements
What is ‘anti’ about anti-reaches? Reference frames selectively affect reaction times and endpoint variability
Reach movement planning involves the representation of spatial target information in different reference frames. Neurons at parietal and premotor stages of the cortical sensorimotor system represent target information in eye- or hand-centered reference frames, respectively. How the different neuronal representations affect behavioral parameters of motor planning and control, i.e. which stage of neural representation is relevant for which aspect of behavior, is not obvious from the physiology. Here, we test with a behavioral experiment if different kinematic movement parameters are affected to a different degree by either an eye- or hand-reference frame. We used a generalized anti-reach task to test the influence of stimulus-response compatibility (SRC) in eye- and hand-reference frames on reach reaction times, movement times, and endpoint variability. While in a standard anti-reach task, the SRC is identical in the eye- and hand-reference frames, we could separate SRC for the two reference frames. We found that reaction times were influenced by the SRC in eye- and hand-reference frame. In contrast, movement times were only influenced by the SRC in hand-reference frame, and endpoint variability was only influenced by the SRC in eye-reference frame. Since movement time and endpoint variability are the result of planning and control processes, while reaction times are consequences of only the planning process, we suggest that SRC effects on reaction times are highly suited to investigate reference frames of movement planning, and that eye- and hand-reference frames have distinct effects on different phases of motor action and different kinematic movement parameters
Liposomes in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine
Liposomes are vesicular structures made of lipids that are formed in aqueous solutions. Structurally, they resemble the lipid membrane of living cells. Therefore, they have been widely investigated, since the 1960s, as models to study the cell membrane, and as carriers for protection and/or delivery of bioactive agents. They have been used in different areas of research including vaccines, imaging, applications in cosmetics and tissue engineering. Tissue engineering is defined as a strategy for promoting the regeneration of tissues for the human body. This strategy may involve the coordinated application of defined cell types with structured biomaterial scaffolds to produce living structures. To create a new tissue, based on this strategy, a controlled stimulation of cultured cells is needed, through a systematic combination of bioactive agents and mechanical signals. Satisfação no trabalho da equipe de enfermagem: revisão integrativa
Job satisfaction consists of a feeling of wellbeing, resulting from the interaction of several occupational aspects, and may influence the worker's relationship with the organization, clients and family. Hence, it becomes important for the quality of nursing care to reflect on this topic in depth. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the scientific evidence related to job satisfaction in Brazilian nursing. An integrative literature review was carried out in the databases LILACS, MEDLINE, BDENF and Cochrane Library, totaling 17 publications, categorized in: Job Satisfaction, Job Dissatisfaction and Associated Factors. It was concluded that job satisfaction is determined by a complex network of factors and may vary depending on the group studied. Additional research, particularly of evidence level III in different nursing fields, covering all of Brazil, is necessary to support the implementation of occupational improvements.La satisfacción en el trabajo consiste en un sentimiento de bienestar resultante de la interacción de varios aspectos ocupacionales, pudiendo influenciar la relación del trabajador con la organización, clientes y familia. Es importante para la calidad de la asistencia de enfermerÃa realizar una reflexión profunda sobre este tema, por eso se objetivó en este estudio analizar las evidencias cientÃficas referentes a la satisfacción en el trabajo del equipo de enfermerÃa brasileño. Se trató de una revisión integradora de la literatura en las bases de datos LILACS, MEDLINE, BDENF y Biblioteca Cochrane, totalizando 17 publicaciones categorizadas en: Satisfacción en el Trabajo, Insatisfacción en el Trabajo y Factores Asociados. Se concluyó que la satisfacción en el trabajo es determinada por una red compleja de factores, pudiendo variar conforme el grupo estudiado. Nursing workload in the emergency department: a methodological proposal
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to propose a methodology for identifying the nursing workload in the Emergency Department (ED). METHODS: this is methodological research, undertaken in a public general hospital in the municipality of São Paulo, Brazil, in the areas: triage, shock room, emergency room, suturing room, and medication/procedures for adult and pediatric patients rooms, using different strategies and instruments. Due to the characteristics of the data collection, distinct samples were obtained in each of the areas. RESULTS: The average daily workload, in hours, corresponded to: triage 48; shock room 30.9; emergency 170.6; observation of adult patients 293.6; observation of pediatric patients 108.7; medication/procedures in adult patients 175.5; medication/procedures in pediatric patients 60.4; and suturing 7.9. CONCLUSION: The instruments used for data collection were shown to be appropriate and made it possible to construct a methodological proposal for identification of workload of nursing professionals in E.D. in a general public hospital
