Pertinence de la prise en compte des dimensions sociales des sciences pour renouveler la conception des sciences au primaire : illustration de la position d’une future enseignante

Différents auteurs reconnaissent la pertinence de renouveler la conception scolaire des sciences la plus courante, ainsi que les stratégies d’enseignement qui y sont liées. Pour plusieurs, s’inspirer de travaux de sociologie des sciences représente une avenue intéressante en ce sens. Dans ce qui suit, nous décrivons comment des chercheurs en éducation ont interprété ces dimensions sociales des sciences, nous soulignons la fécondité de certaines propositions pour renouveler les conceptions des sciences de futurs enseignants et présentons, à titre illustratif, la position d’une enseignante du primaire en formation initiale.Diverse authors are increasingly recognizing the import of renewing current scholastic conceptions pertaining to the nature of science and the associated pedagogical practices. Many are inspired by work undertaken in the sociology of science. In this paper, we briefly describe : 1) how some educational researchers have interpreted various social aspects of science ; 2) the relevance of such proposals in light of pre-service teachers’ conceptions of science ; and 3) how these illustrations figure in the case of a student teacher at the elementary level.Diferentes autores reconocen la pertinencia de renovar la concepción escolar más común de las ciencias así como las estrategias de enseñanza relacionadas con ella. Fotografieren im Sachunterricht – Ergebnisse aus einer Fallstudie

Im Unterschied zur dominierenden Stossrichtung innerhalb des medienpädagogischen Diskurses, welcher die Rezeption von Fotografien im schulischen Unterricht thematisiert, fokussiert der vorliegende Artikel auf das Fotografieren, das produktive Bilder-Machen von Schülerinnen und Schülern im Rahmen des Sachunterrichts. Anhand einer Berner Studie, die sich dem Zusammenhang von Repräsentationsmodus und Lernprozess widmete, geht der Artikel der Frage nach, wie sich fotografisch gelöste Beobachtungsaufgaben von sprachlich realisierten unterscheiden, welchen Aufschluss sie geben über die Lern- und Konstruktionsprozesse von Kindern und wie sie für das Lernen im Sachunterricht genutzt werden könnten. Der fallkontrastierende Vergleich macht deutlich, wie unterschiedlich, ja disparat die fotografischen Lösungswege sind, die die Kinder eingeschlagen haben, und wie wenig sie sich – im Unterschied zu den sprachlich arbeitenden Kindern – von Instruktionen lenken liessen. Dieser konstruktive Aspekt des Mediums Fotografie könnte im Sachunterricht deshalb – wenn gezielt eingesetzt und methodisch reflektiert – zur Realisierung eines mehr selbstgesteuerten Lernens dienen, in welchem der subjektive Blick auf die Welt als Teil der Wissenskonstruktion integriert würde

First-principles Calculations of Engineered Surface Spin Structures

The engineered spin structures recently built and measured in scanning tunneling microscope experiments are calculated using density functional theory. By determining the precise local structure around the surface impurities, we find the Mn atoms can form molecular structures with the binding surface, behaving like surface molecular magnets. The spin structures are confirmed to be antiferromagnetic, and the exchange couplings are calculated within 8% of the experimental values simply by collinear-spin GGA+U calculations. We can also explain why the exchange couplings significantly change with different impurity binding sites from the determined local structure. The bond polarity is studied by calculating the atomic charges with and without the Mn adatoms

Questions and positions on education for sustainable development at university in France: example of short professional cycles?

The questions focus on the emergence of education for sustainable development in the French university. The case study discusses the curricular examination of the Bachelor of Territory Professional Planning in 17 universities and the diachronic evolution, between 2001 and 2011, of their educational content around sustainable development. The analysis leads to a reflection on the specificity of French contexts, compared to international positions. Indeed, the legitimacy of the education provided is queried against the economization of the educational sphere. Didactic problems are posed by the reduction of distances between social practices and knowledge mobilized for the teachings. Fostering Community and Civic Engagement in Low Income Multicultural Schools through Transformative Leadership

In this study, we examine how transformative leadership enables students from a low-income and multicultural neighbourhood to learn about democracy, re-sponsible citizenship, and community engagement at school. As part of a graduate seminar on critical pedagogy and cultural studies in education, in-depth group interviews were conducted with students in three different schools. The objective of the study was to give voice to these students and to better un-derstand how and why they had decided to become involved in a democracy-oriented school project.
