Entanglement of two-mode Bose-Einstein condensates
We investigate the entaglement characteristics of two general bimodal
Bose-Einstein condensates - a pair of tunnel-coupled Bose-Einstein condensates
and the atom-molecule Bose-Einstein condensate. We argue that the entanglement
is only physically meaningful if the system is viewed as a bipartite system,
where the subsystems are the two modes. The indistinguishibility of the
particles in the condensate means that the atomic constituents are physically
inaccessible and thus the degree of entanglement between individual particles,
unlike the entanglement between the modes, is not experimentally relevant so
long as the particles remain in the condensed state. We calculate the
entanglement between the modes for the exact ground state of the two bimodal
condensates and consider the dynamics of the entanglement in the tunnel-coupled

Perspectives for the detection and measurement of Supersymmetry in the focus point region of mSUGRA models with the ATLAS detector at LHC
This paper discusses the ATLAS potential to study Supersymmetry for the
"Focus-Point" region of the parameter space of mSUGRA models. The potential to
discovery a deviation from Standard Model expectations with the first few
of LHC data was studied using the parametrized simulation of the
ATLAS detector. Several signatures were considered, involving hard jets, large
missing energy, and either -tagged jets, opposite-sign isolated electron or
muon pairs, or top quarks reconstructed exploiting their fully hadronic decays.
With only 1 of data each of these signatures may allow to observe
an excess of events over Standard Model expectation with a statistical
significance exceeding 5 standard deviations. An analytical expression was
derived for the shape of the distribution of the dilepton invariant mass
arising from the three-body leptonic decay of the neutralinos under the
hypothesis of heavy scalars, which is appropriate for the focus-point scenario.
The resulting function was used to fit the distribution of the dilepton
invariant mass obtained with simulated LHC data, and to extract the value of
two kinematic endpoints measuring the and
the mass differences. This information was
used to constrain the MSSM parameter space compatible with the data
Quantum Cryptography Using Single Particle Entanglement
A quantum cryptography scheme based on entanglement between a single particle
state and a vacuum state is proposed. The scheme utilizes linear optics devices
to detect the superposition of the vacuum and single particle states. Existence

Quantum teleportation of entangled coherent states
We propose a simple scheme for the quantum teleportation of both bipartite
and multipartite entangled coherent states with the successful probability 1/2.
The scheme is based on only linear optical devices such as beam splitters and
phase shifters, and two-mode photon number measurements. The quantum channels
described by multipartite maximally entangled coherent states are readily made

Multipartite entanglement for entanglement teleportation
The scheme for entanglement teleportation is proposed to incorporate
multipartite entanglement of four qubits as a quantum channel. Based on the
invariance of entanglement teleportation under arbitrary two-qubit unitary
transformation, we derive relations of separabilities for joint measurements at
a sending station and for unitary operations at a receiving station. From the
relations of separabilities it is found that an inseparable quantum channel
always leads to a total teleportation of entanglement with an inseparable joint
measurement and/or a nonlocal unitary operation.Comment: slightly modifie
Event Reconstruction in the PHENIX Central Arm Spectrometers
The central arm spectrometers for the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic
Heavy Ion Collider have been designed for the optimization of particle
identification in relativistic heavy ion collisions. The spectrometers present
a challenging environment for event reconstruction due to a very high track
multiplicity in a complicated, focusing, magnetic field. In order to meet this
challenge, nine distinct detector types are integrated for charged particle
tracking, momentum reconstruction, and particle identification. The techniques

Phosphorothioate antisense oligonucleotides induce the formation of nuclear bodies
Antisense oligonucleotides are powerful tools for the in vivo regulation of gene expression. We have characterized the intracellular distribution of fluorescently tagged phosphorothioate oligodeoxynucleotides (PS-ONs) at high resolution under conditions in which PS-ONs have the potential to display antisense activity. Under these conditions PS-ONs predominantly localized to the cell nucleus where they accumulated in 20-30 bright spherical foci designated phosphorothioate bodies (PS bodies), which were set against a diffuse nucleoplasmic population excluding nucleoli. PS bodies are nuclear structures that formed in cells after PS-ON delivery by transfection agents or microinjection but were observed irrespectively of antisense activity or sequence. Ultrastructurally, PS bodies corresponded to electron-dense structures of 150-300 nm diameter and resembled nuclear bodies that were found with lower frequency in cells lacking PS-ONs. The environment of a living cell was required for the de novo formation of PS bodies, which occurred within minutes after the introduction of PS-ONs. PS bodies were stable entities that underwent noticeable reorganization only during mitosis. Upon exit from mitosis, PS bodies were assembled de novo from diffuse PS-ON pools in the daughter nuclei. In situ fractionation demonstrated an association of PS-ONs with the nuclear matrix. Taken together, our data provide evidence for the formation of a nuclear body in cells after introduction of phosphorothioate oligodeoxynucleotides
Proximity effect at superconducting Sn-Bi2Se3 interface
We have investigated the conductance spectra of Sn-Bi2Se3 interface junctions
down to 250 mK and in different magnetic fields. A number of conductance
anomalies were observed below the superconducting transition temperature of Sn,
including a small gap different from that of Sn, and a zero-bias conductance
peak growing up at lower temperatures. We discussed the possible origins of the
smaller gap and the zero-bias conductance peak. These phenomena support that a
proximity-effect-induced chiral superconducting phase is formed at the
interface between the superconducting Sn and the strong spin-orbit coupling
material Bi2Se3.Comment: 7 pages, 8 figure
Centrality Dependence of the High p_T Charged Hadron Suppression in Au+Au collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 130 GeV
PHENIX has measured the centrality dependence of charged hadron p_T spectra
from central Au+Au collisions at sqrt(s_NN)=130 GeV. The truncated mean p_T
decreases with centrality for p_T > 2 GeV/c, indicating an apparent reduction
of the contribution from hard scattering to high p_T hadron production. For
central collisions the yield at high p_T is shown to be suppressed compared to
binary nucleon-nucleon collision scaling of p+p data. This suppression is
monotonically increasing with centrality, but most of the change occurs below
30% centrality, i.e. for collisions with less than about 140 participating
nucleons. The observed p_T and centrality dependence is consistent with the
particle production predicted by models including hard scattering and
subsequent energy loss of the scattered partons in the dense matter created in
