Baseline tests of the EPC Hummingbird electric passenger vehicle
The rear-mounted internal combustion engine in a four-passenger Volkswagen Thing was replaced with an electric motor made by modifying an aircraft generator and powered by 12 heavy-duty, lead-acid battery modules. Vehicle performance tests were conducted to measure vehicle maximum speed, range at constant speed, range over stop-and-go driving schedules, maximum acceleration, gradeability limit, road energy consumption, road power, indicated energy consumption, braking capability, battery charger efficiency, and battery characteristics. Test results are presented in tables and charts
Baseline tests of the C. H. Waterman DAF electric passenger vehicle
An electric vehicle was tested as part of an Energy Research Development Administration (ERDA) project to characterize the state-of-the-art of electric vehicles. The Waterman vehicle performance test results are presented in this report. The vehicle is a converted four-passenger DAF 46 sedan. It is powered by sixteen 6-volt traction batteries through a three-step contactor controller actuated by a foot throttle to change the voltage applied to the 6.7 kW motor. The braking system is a conventional hydraulic braking system

Researchers explore Arctic freshwater\u27s role in ocean circulation
A critical, but insufficiently understood, component of global change is the influence of Arctic freshwater input on water mass exchange between the Arctic Ocean and Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Four of the Earth\u27s 10 largest river systems, the Mackenzie, Ob,Yenisei, and Lena, contribute water to the Arctic shore (Figure 1) from a vast watershed that drains continental interiors. This river discharge flows into the world\u27s largest contiguous continental shelf and supplies over 50% (1823 km3 ) of the riverine input to the Arctic Ocean
Baseline tests of the Zagato Elcar electric passenger vehicle
The Elcar vehicle performance test results are presented. The Elcar Model 2000 is a two-passenger vehicle with a reinforced fiberglass body. It is powered by eight 12-volt batteries. The batteries are connected to the motor through an arrangement of contactors operated from a foot pedal in conjunction with a hand-operated switch. These contactors change the voltage applied to the 2-kilowatt motor. Acceleration tests, operating characteristics, and instrumentation are described
Exponential Mixing for a Stochastic PDE Driven by Degenerate Noise
We study stochastic partial differential equations of the reaction-diffusion
type. We show that, even if the forcing is very degenerate (i.e. has not full
rank), one has exponential convergence towards the invariant measure. The
convergence takes place in the topology induced by a weighted variation norm
and uses a kind of (uniform) Doeblin condition.Comment: 10 pages, 1 figur
L\'evy-areas of Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes in Hilbert-spaces
In this paper we investigate the existence and some useful properties of the
L\'evy areas of Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes associated to Hilbert-space-valued
fractional Brownian-motions with Hurst parameter . We prove
that this stochastic area has a H\"older-continuous version with sufficiently
large H\"older-exponent and that can be approximated by smooth areas. In
addition, we prove the stationarity of this area.Comment: 18 page
Statistical properties of stochastic 2D Navier-Stokes equations from linear models
A new approach to the old-standing problem of the anomaly of the scaling
exponents of nonlinear models of turbulence has been proposed and tested
through numerical simulations. This is achieved by constructing, for any given
nonlinear model, a linear model of passive advection of an auxiliary field
whose anomalous scaling exponents are the same as the scaling exponents of the
nonlinear problem. In this paper, we investigate this conjecture for the 2D
Navier-Stokes equations driven by an additive noise. In order to check this
conjecture, we analyze the coupled system Navier-Stokes/linear advection system
in the unknowns . We introduce a parameter which gives a

Stochastic evolution equations driven by Liouville fractional Brownian motion
Let H be a Hilbert space and E a Banach space. We set up a theory of
stochastic integration of L(H,E)-valued functions with respect to H-cylindrical
Liouville fractional Brownian motions (fBm) with arbitrary Hurst parameter in
the interval (0,1). For Hurst parameters in (0,1/2) we show that a function
F:(0,T)\to L(H,E) is stochastically integrable with respect to an H-cylindrical
Liouville fBm if and only if it is stochastically integrable with respect to an
H-cylindrical fBm with the same Hurst parameter. As an application we show that
second-order parabolic SPDEs on bounded domains in \mathbb{R}^d, driven by
space-time noise which is white in space and Liouville fractional in time with
Hurst parameter in (d/4,1) admit mild solution which are H\"older continuous
