A note on the relationship between rational and trigonometric solutions of the WDVV equations

Legendre transformations provide a natural symmetry on the space of solutions to the WDVV equations, and more specifically, between different Frobenius manifolds. In this paper a twisted Legendre transformation is constructed between solutions which define the corresponding dual Frobenius manifolds. As an application it is shown that certain trigonometric and rational solutions of the WDVV equations are related by such a twisted Legendre transform

Gambaran Sanitasi Tempat Berdagang Warung Penyet Di Kecamatan Tembalang

District Tembalang is one of the sub-district in the city of Semarang with many colleges so that there are many penyet restaurant. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the contamination of Salmonella sp on a vegetables penyet in District Tembalang, Semarang City. This study is observational analytical survey method using cross sectional design. These samples included 40 penyet restaurant observed water and vegetables fresh vegetables supplied to consumers. Data were analyzed by frequency distribution and bivariate with chi square test. The results showed the storage of vegetables vegetables using plastic bags (50%); the basket (27.5%) and sacks (22.5%). Sanitation trade places category is good (57.5%). There is a statistically significant relationship between sanitation trade places (p = 0.006) with Salmonella sp contamination in fresh vegetables. Beberapa Faktor yang Berpengaruh terhadap Keluhan Nyeri Punggung Bawah pada Penjual Jamu Gendong

Background: Herbal Tonic Beverage Carriers are considered as high risk group of low backpain occurrence due to their activities such as bending position, lifting and carrying heavy loads. This study aims to analyze factors influencing low back pain occurrence among herbaltonic beverage carriers.Method: It was a cross sectional analytical study involved 30 herbal tonic beverage carriers in Geneng Village, Mijen Sub-district, District of Demak. Chi-square and logistic regression were employed as analysis tools.Result: This study found that age (p=0.355), working period (p=1.000), duration of lifting (p=0.433), weight of load (p=0.029) and lifting technique (p=0.628) have no correlation with low back pain occurrence. Multivariate analysis showed that sitting position was the only factor which predicts the occurrence of low back pain. Regarding this finding, it isrecommended for herbal tonic beverage carriers to have a better working position during their works in order to prevent their vertebrae from injury.Keyword : Low back pain, herbal tonic beverage carrier

The Optical/Near-IR Colors of Broad Absorption Line Quasars, Including the Candidate Radio-Loud BAL Quasar 1556+3517

A candidate radio-loud broad absorption line quasar (RLBAL) has been reported by Becker et al. (1997). We present JHK observations of this object and three other radio-detected BALs taken with the new Michigan-Dartmouth-MIT/Ohio State/Aladdin IR Camera (MOSAIC) on the KPNO 4-meter. The candidate RLBAL 1556+3517 has B-K=6.63, redder than all but one or two known z>1 quasars. This strongly suggests the observed continuum of this quasar is reddened by dust. Even when this extreme reddening is taken into account 1556+3517 is still probably radio-loud, although near-IR spectroscopy to measure its Balmer decrement will be needed to verify this. In addition, since it is a flat-spectrum object, VLBI observations to determine the extent (if any) to which beaming affects our estimate of its radio luminosity will be needed before 1556+3517 can be unequivocally declared a radio-loud BAL. We also use our data and data from the literature to show that optically selected BALs as a class have B-K colors consistent with the observed distribution for optically selected quasars as a whole. Thus there is currently no evidence that the tendency of optically selected BALs to be preferentially radio-intermediate (Hooper, Francis, & Impey 1993) is due to extinction artificially lowering estimated BAL optical luminosities. Rapidly Spinning Black Holes in Quasars: An Open Question

Wang et al. (2006) estimated an average radiative efficiency of 30% -- 35% for quasars at moderate redshift. We find that their method is not independent of quasar lifetimes and thus that quasars do not necessarily have such high efficiencies. Nonetheless, it is possible to derive interrelated constraints on quasar lifetimes, Eddington ratios, and radiative efficiencies of supermassive black holes. We derive such constraints using a statistically complete sample of quasars with black hole mass estimates from broad Mg II, made both with and without the radiation pressure correction of Marconi et al. (2008). We conclude that for quasars with L/LEdd > 0.02, lifetimes can range from 140 to 750 Myr for Schwarzschild black holes. Coupled with observed black hole masses, quasar lifetimes of < 140 Myr would imply that radiatively inefficient accretion or BH mergers must be important in the accretion history of quasars. Given reasonable assumptions about the quasar population, if the average quasar lifetime is < 1 Gyr, and if radiatively inefficient accretion is unimportant, then not many BHs with Eddington ratio < 0.2 can be rapidly spinning.Comment: 14 pages, 3 figures, accepted by ApJ on Sep 200
